"Kids Delight in Spring Book Extravaganza which kicked off with a ceremony featuring books by award-winning children’s author Stephanie Lisa Tara who donated 6,000 hard cover editions. “Our librarian is very excited,” says Samuel Karlin, principal at Bowe Elementary School, Chicopee, MA. “We are giving out the books during National Book Week and every kid will get to keep a new book.” —David Mazor, Founding Executive Director, READER TO READER, Inc.
(AMAZON REVIEW)—On a quiet moonlit beach, a baby green sea turtle stirs from a dream of home. Slowly, slowly with a tap, click, crack, the baby turtle embarks upon a mysterious nighttime journey. Gentle tender verse and enchanting illustrations carry this tranquil tale from sand to sea. Stephanie's first book, I'll Follow the Moon comforts children with its soothing tone and melodic repetition.
I LOVE THIS BOOK—Nicholas Kalitan, PA USA: "I just picked this up for my daughter's 3rd birthday and I think I like it more than she does. It reads like a song and the illustrations are very sweet and happy. Great bedtime story."
This is a beautiful story and the illustrations are superb! I've given this as a gift... always a big hit!
From the book - I'm coming, Mama, I'll see you soon. I know just how... I'll follow the moon (how sweet is that?)—A true classic... perfect gift!, E. CLARK, GA, April 5, 2008
*FROM THE AUTHOR: One night in 2001, about a month after I brought baby Madeline home from the hospital, I noticed something quite strange on the beach in front of our home. Tiny shapes scurrying across the sand. What was this? Baby turtles streaming out of hundreds of small nests, dashing on little green legs in a remarkable race to the sea. "I'm coming Mama..." they seemed to be saying, and I realized that I was witnessing one of nature's sacred events, the love bond between mother and child.
My daughters (4 and 2) are going through a big turtle phase which is why I got this. The story is very sweet and reassuring to a child (spoiler alert: the baby turtle DOES find mommy and they are reunited with much joy). The poetic writing and gorgeous illustrations--and heavy, sturdy paper--makes this a nice aesthetic experience for the adult reading aloud, also. —Branwen
This is one of the best children's books I have ever read! My [...] son, who loves turtles, is inpired to read with this book. Stephanie Lisa brilliantly incorporates the adventure of a baby sea turle hatchng from his egg to his trip into the sea, all the while following the moon to find his mother. The illustrations are beautiful. A must read! -Charlotte Marie Troillo
As a preschool teacher I have found this book to be a marvel in my classroom, not only as a teaching aide but as an enjoyable interactive tool that my students ask for on a daily basis. The use of "blue" as metaphor - a complicated subject to understand, is brilliantly depicted both in the poem (dream in blue/fine blue glow of moon/blue ocean/mother's blue eyes) and in the exquisite watercolor illustrations that accompany the poetry. A magnificent and delightful book! Bravo! -Berkeley, CA
"I stumbled across this book quite by accident, and I found it to be a treasure. The verse is lovely and calm, as are the illustrations. As a new mom who longed for a child for many years and eventually adopted internationally, I found the symbolism achingly beautiful. I have since given the book to several friends who have also waited for their children to find them." -Raleigh, NC

I know just how...I'll follow the moon." The simple words and gentle rhythm makes this a wonderful bedtime story. The watercolor illustrations are solid, yet soft. They beautifully portray the beach and sky in an inviting way that adds to the soothing nature of the book. -Armchair Interviews

Gentle verse along with soft, earth-toned illustrations. Books of Wonder, New York City
Stephanie Lisa Tara and Canadian illustrator Lee Edward Fodi have teamed up to create a lyrical rendition of a green sea turtle's first glimpse of life. Hatched on a moon-washed beach, the baby turtle finds its way by instinct across the expanse of sand to the sea and a rendezvous with its mother. Written in simple verse in the first person, the rhythmic text is full of action and sensory detail and loaded with alliteration and onomatopoeia for an enjoyable read-aloud. -CM Magazine
Readers may recognize Stephanie Lisa Tara’s name from her prior acclaimed picture books but ELIZA’S FOREVER TREES is something different: a novel recommended for elementary school readers or parents who can use this as a nightly read-aloud exploring positive relationships between mothers and their children and kids with their environment. With its evocative sounds, descriptions and thought-provoking insights, this lovely story will prompt discussion and reflection and joy. —Midwest Book Review
What is it about turtles? Slow and steady, they win the race. It's true, green sea turtles are endangered, and it's as if this little baby turtle knows it. He has championed his cause quietly, garnering awards and endorsements and praise - worldwide. What can we say about a one-inch little greenskinned infant like him? Well, we can honor he and his kind, as we honor all mothers everywhere. I'll Follow the Moon, written by a mom for all moms - is a tale of hope, love and dreams. —Stephanie Tara
