  • lovely piece of music

  • I'm hearing "What Child is This".

  • @NorbertsGirl Same... I knew there was a reason why I liked that song during x-mas even though I'm not religious... and here it is. lol

  • @NorbertsGirl thats green sleeves

  • @NorbertsGirl The same music is used in both songs, but greensleeves is the orignal

  • brings tears to my eyes

  • congratulations..............................

  • Wow this gives me chills; it is exquisite

  • Most delightful, but isn't it strange how even this more upbeat version of Greensleeves retains the distinctive feeling of futility and loss whenever we reach a point of no return?

  • Beautiful piece!

  • Mellow, melancholy, and magnificent!

  • what instruments are being played on this version?

  • @johninsalem I presume that is bag pipe ,fiddle.piano, and guitar.

  • Great!! I loved the video and the song!! Thanks

  • I love this type of music, like old celtic foklk music as well as english, even thoguht im a rocker.

  • Truely Amazing. Blessed be

  • OMG.............this is beautiful.........absolutely the best version I've found to date!

  • This was lovely!

  • I want this to play as I walk down the isal it's so beautiful!!!

  • @future6mrs6manson6

I would have to agree with you ^.^ walking down the isle with this song playing on a hill out looking the rising sun at sea and feeling the cool morning grass on your feet as you strode to the one you love. My dream wedding

  • i'm listenin' to it again and again ... i think i should marry, because of the song xD

    I LOVE IT

  • beautiful

  • Greensleeves rocks on the Celtic bagpipes

  • very nice

  • Wow !! an English trad song turned celtic..!!!

    Mint.!!

  • AWESOME :) I ADORE IT!

  • When I hear this song and see these pictures then I realise once again that I´m a real romantic...Wunderful song and pics

  • @maxwellundercover You do realize that this about a man who buys a woman ALOT of stuff, gives her money...but she won't love him. I LOVE GREENSLEEVES, but I heard it was about a "wh*re basically.

He buys her everything, takes care of her...she won't love him. Sad.

  • Greensleeves has a history but also has many interpretations over the years. The melody is used for everything from funerals, weddings, to even Christmas. This is why this emotional piece is such a classic. The original meaning is similar to what you wrote, but many don't know or care as they just are moved by the melody. It's an emotional piece for sure.

  • it always reminds me of Christmas and the baby Jesus, so it can be very emotional in that regard

  • @stonescourt3 yes it sounds like What Child is This.

  • Lovely -

  • Wouwie thats verry good, it's zo...Irisch beautiful

  • wow

  • I really love this virsion.

  • Absolutely beautiful song with breathtaking pictures.

    Great job. (:

  • this is so beautiful I could cry :')

  • Hey,that's great!

  • I adore this piece of music it was the first thing I learned to play on my cornet when I was 12 yrs old. Good memories....

  • Estoy de acuerdo en que esta es una de las mas bellas versiones de este clasico. Me encanta.

  • Beautiful!

  • this makes me think of tudor times and what henry 8th would be like if he lived in 2009, he be penniless with all those divorce settlements LOL

  • Wow. This is probably one of the best versions of this song I have ever heard.

  • like it

  • The melody is older than the instruments.

  • because it was sung at first an as a certain age of stringed instruments progressed then the song was guided with the decision of a harp or a harpsichord

  • Then you would be wrong because both string and reed instruments such as the guitar and bagpipes can traces their liniage back to early egyptian civilization, yes they are not the instuments played today but they consisted of the same basic idea, using the bagpipes as an example the egyptian version would most likely have no drones and if any it would have very few (most likely one) where as the modern highland bagpipes have 3 drones,

  • Actually to add more onto your bagpipes, there is not alot of evidence showing the Celts even got the bagpipes from the Romans, noting once again to how ancient the instrument's origins are.

  • greensleeves dumbass

  • wow this is realy great song and ireland is sooo beautiful

  • I would love the traditional Celtic lyrics for this tune. I'm only familiar with the English lyrics.

  • There are no 'celtic' lyrics for this song, unless you care to get them translated into Welsh or Irish/Scottish Gaelic. The original words, written by King Henry VIII, it is said, are English words.

    tac

  • Actually the song was probably not composed by Henry, but actually might be older.

  • actually England is mainly Celtic, we are only refferred to as Anglo-Saxon because we have the most Anglo-Saxon blood in the British Isles.

Geaneology reports also show this with most showing at least 70% of the Celtic R1B gene in their DNA.

  • Then Give the Ireland to the IRISH!!!! XD

  • I would if I could, it's the ****heads that run the country you need to tell that one to mate.

  • Between your goverment and mine, their all fucking idiots just their to line their pockets! peace m8

  • peace : )

but it'll soon be one big EU government if they have their way. :-(

  • " What child is this, who laid to rest, on Marys lap is sleeping? "

  • thats what child is this?

    it a christmas song

but they have the same tune

"Alas my love, you do me wrong, to cast me of so discourtesly"

  • you know,

everything sound more comforting on the pipes

i wish i had the lung power to play those intsruments of the heavens...

  • Sir - the Irish pipes are not played by lung-power, but by elbow power, that is why they are called uillean pipes - 'elbow' in Irish.

    tadhg ui foghlaidhe

  • and lung power as well surely, they are blowing (just as saxophones are played using lung power)

  • Sir or Madam or Ms - please read what I wrote - the uillean pipes are driven by air from a set of bellows strapped to the elbow and upper arm there are no lungs involved. Have a look at a few other movies - the Chieftains come to mind - and you'll see what I mean.

    tadhg

  • Fantastic rendition of this.

  • whats the name of this song ?

  • Greensleeves

  • :X::X:XXXXXXXXXX

    I love this song

  • really beautiful song , I love it !!

and Sure this will be played at my wedding!! someday of course!

  • There isn't a celtic version of Greensleeves. It's an English folk song.

  • Greensleeves is an English folk song that is widely used for various occasions in modern times. It's an emotional composition and I chose to include it on my Highland Serenade CD and give it a bit of Celtic flavor. It's truly a unique twist for a wedding and I find that many enjoy this arrangement.
