  • if you save the council in 1 do they carry over to number 2?

  • @Skidmarkish Yes but they make a brief appearence

  • i kinda feel bad for saren becouse of the stuff sovereign did to him

  • Chek my Mass Effect Video :)

    /watch?v=NHui0FxOB-o

  • Everyone: yay lets celebrate!

Shepard: must stop reapers...must stop reapers...must stop reapers

  • yet again another boss battle in a rpg game

  • i let the council die but my reason was simple karmic payback -.- they didn't help sheppard why the hell should sheppard save them when if the roles were reversed they wouldn't save sheppard and we all know it XD

  • @Anime2GW but that gives more of a reason to save them because even though you know they are stuck up about been on the council and your race isn't and you know if they had to choose between saving you or been the first inline for the drinks vending machines you know full well they would choose first inline choice, you saved them anyway showing that you and your race has more heart than any living thing put together :)

  • Honestly after going into ME2, I wouldn't be surprised if the Council tried to turn against you in the court martial in ME3...jerks. I would have let them die but I was trying to be a badass hero, not a badass anti-hero

  • mass effect is the only rpg i have ever enjoyed. the others all seem like same old same old and i can never get into the whole medieval thing of the dragon age series.

  • @kirielvids - You simply haven't played any real RPG. Or, you haven't played anything that would tell you ME2 isn't an RPG. I have nothing against consoles, but it really lowered the standards for gaming. In GOW and ME2, you see a waist high barrier and think "Hey cool! I'm a scifi commando and there's a waist high barrier. Let's take cover!" and accept it. It's not your fault, EA's been dumbing gamers down for decades.

  • @ToiletBomberAlpha GOW is not an RPG though. ME is not turn based so the mechanics and gameplay can not possibly be the same as most turn based RPG games where you have much more complex combinations of items, powers etc to level up since the focus is not on the action/fighting. You can not compare this to turn based RPGs. You're comparing apples to oranges if you compare ME to a turn based RPG game. Bioware also puts a lot of time and effort into possible actions and consequences.

  • @ThePhazon - Never said GOW was an RPG, but ME and GOW use cover systems. Same for turn-based RPGs. ME isn't even an RPG, hence why I said console kids will accept any pile of crap. You really should learn how to read.

  • @ToiletBomberAlpha So if it's not an RPG it's a pile of crap? It doesn't have to be fucking EVE Online in order for it to be a good game. And you're still comparing apples to oranges, games WILL emphasize certain aspects more than others, it does not mean they neglected other aspects of that game. The developers simply want it to be more of an action game than an RPG, it doesn't mean it's crap.

  • @ThePhazon yea stop thinking that all because a game isnt turn based means its not an RPG. Go look up what an RPG is A game where the players choices affect gameplay and get to mold your character how you want it to be. Fallout, oblivion, final fatansy, mass effect, hell even pokemon a little lets you do that ok

  • @BeefSupreme101 actually, final fantasy isn't an RPG, not really. You don't mold your character, you merely follow it, with small dialogue choices that make no significant difference. FO and Oblivion, you are the character, you play the role, RPG alright. In Mass Effect, you follow Sheperd, but Sheperd is whoever the player chooses, they RP sheperd, and the choices you make have significant impact.

  • @richardplexx thats what im trying to prove to bomber alpha

  • @ToiletBomberAlpha How is ME not an RPG? You take the perspective of a character and make decisions based on his/her personal choice that are reflected by your choices as that characters. Sounds pretty role-playingish to me.

  • i'd let the council die but i played me2 before me1, so i want to experience it differently, cause imo they dont give you any respect, well maybe the salarian and asari but the turian is a massive asshole! :/

  • I love the music that bioware produces it is amazing, i love the music in both dragon age and mass effect, it stands agains the music that the halo series produces

  • *Shepard climbs over the wreckage*

    Wrex: "Shepard."

  • at 09:50 garrus is like "you fucking pricks ill get you back"

  • The best part of this ending is that there's no real right answer. You have to make a decision and live with the consequences good or bad.

You save the council and humanity is a hero and nobody questions their right to be on the council and have a say in politics. Hold back for Soverign, and you save ships but take control of the galexy in what will pass as a coup. This kind of decision is the mark of a masterpiece in gameing.

  • how come if u let the council live and pick anderson udina's just like: FUCK U!!! pick me bitch!!!

but if you let them die and pick him he's all like: ok

  • I definitely let the Council die, didn't really do it out of spite I just felt like taking out Sov was more important

  • 7:30 for great awesomeness!

  • "Wrex: I hope the council appreciates this"

[Looks at Mass Effect 2 copy]

SCREW THEM, if I have the chance to kill that turian slim ball in the third game, I WILL.

  • i choose saving the Council because Sovergion dies either way

  • @KevinLuhrs Yea and you dont get to meet the council and get you spectre status reinstated in the second one if you dont. Thats why i save them. They will come around in ME3 one way or another.

  • @TexasToast712 I hope after ME3 they insult me then i get to shoot them in the head xD

  • paragon ftw. In ME2 if you kill the council you won't get your specter status back.

I'd rather be the Ultimate Hero vs ultimate badass

  • @richdondie haha i know this is late but i must say tushay

  • it'd be funny if the "humans" were the actual ones who founded the council and not the turians/asari/salarians... it's like how elves are below all the other species in dragon age, yet in other games they're the most prestige (Elder Scrolls, Morrowind/Oblivion/Etc)...

  • If they really want to do a mass effect mmo, it should be the mass effect universe, not the story of Commander Shepard. I would make it take place sometime before, maybe when humans are first introduced to the galaxy or even further back. I just love the universe so much, and can't wait till number 3!!!

  • Is it kinda sad that the joint species (Turian, Salarian, and Asari) fleet got its ass handed to it and just a fraction of the human fleet came in a dominated everything?

  • @360spire Many reasons for that:

    1. they were unprepared

    2. a lot of the citadel fleet was stationed at mass relays expecting an attack there

    3. they were overwhelmed with the massive amount of firepower coming down on them.

  • Dude what level were you when you completed the game? Also you used alot of your powers I just used one and that was the shield boost, but nice job!One more thind did you let Saren/Soverien kill himself and get the achievment.

  • I was upset that Admiral Hackett didn't appear in Mass Effect 2. He's only referenced a few times here and there. He needs to appear in Mass Effect 3. Same voice actor, lol

  • ZOMG!

Captain Anderson is Julius off of Saints Row!

and that commander guy off modern warfare 2!

and dont you think that doctor woman sounds suspiciously like the queen of the locust off gears 2&3!

    hmm... Suspicious...

  • @JackStrawbridge The doctor woman also voices Mon Mothma in the Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast video game.

  • Admiral Hackett = General Shepard (MW2)....completely awesome character

  • Mass effect 2 ending is crazy better!!!!! I love it it's fucking piece of art!!!!!

  • isnt it funny how everybody gives shepard credit for killing sovereign when joker was the one who really did it?

  • @lochnessmonster96 actually, sovereign was saren, metophorically speaking. What im trying to say is Saren gave his turian life for sovereign. So sovereign went "inside" saren, and took over his brain, heart, every single organ in his body. So technichally, since sovereign was saren, shepard actually killed sovereign. Joker just destroyed the lifeless ship. do you get what im saying?

  • @GlauxianCodeXXX

Although this is strange. If its as you say, and Sovereign was unable to survive because of Shepard killing his avatar, then how come Harbinger survives every time you kill a "possessed" collector in ME2?? Not to mention when he releases the Collector General..

Maybe there's some form of hierarchy among the reapers, and Sovereign was below Harbinger; in such way that Sovereign had limited power, and because Harbinger had more power, he could survive letting go of his puppets..

  • @lochnessmonster96 lol, who destroyed Saren's cloning facility in Virmire?

    Who saved Feros?

    Who killed Benezia?

and oh yeah, WHO THE HELL KILLED SAREN?

    XD

  • @lochnessmonster96 probably late comment but its cuz without shepard joker never came throught reapers shield

  • Wrex looks so badass when he shoots Saren in the head.

  • Non default Shepard's look like an ass face

  • MMO's are fun to some extent, but i hope 1 thing will never happen.

NO MASS EFFECT MMO EVER, it will only fuck up the experience.

MMO is tempting offer because it can generate massive income for the company, but at the same time ruin the franchise.

Because people will start bitching at different mechanics of the game and the company will have to please them by nerfing this or nerfing that, wich in the end can ruin the experience of different individuals.

ME should always stay with DLC :) <3

  • Choosing Anderson and letting the council live will probably be the best ideals for the rest of the series, the human council doesn't want ANYTHING to do with Shepard, and Udina is a horrible leader, taking politics over actual military action.

  • @Cotaqownsu you are so right. not only can anderson provide military help to the council, he can also provide diplomatic too.

  • When Wrex shakes his head no and looks over to the wreckage, it was quite a sad moment. I guess Wrex did have a heart under that tough Krogan exterior. Who would've thought?

  • me too and was soo satisfying humans rule.

  • when joker sent that missile through sovereign i was like "FUCK YA!!!". best ending ever

  • hey does anyone know the name of the space station in the backround. I have always wondered. Is it supposed to be the Lazarus Research Station

  • dang dont mess with the alliance

  • i finished mass effect and i let the council die those liars

  • 11:25

The Asari Council member just admitted the Reapers were real!

In ME2, the council says the Reapers are just a myth!

    What the f***!?

  • fucking politicians

  • @JMDub89 sorry i Accidentally thump you down

  • Ah yes, "reapers"

  • the part around 9:35 is pretty hilarious.. anderson calming a krogan, should've been a chick in wrex's spot :)

  • @ciortas1 ya like liara. thats wat i did

  • Comment removed

  • The gameplay(fighting) sucks, but I love the graphics and the story line! !!!SPOILER!!! In my game Ashley killed Wrex, it pissed me off so much I left her in sarens factory with the nuke.

  • if you hhad max charm you could have saved him

  • or max intimidate look it up

  • bahaha, awesome!

  • Didn't played the first one, but finished ME2 twice now

  • You should get the first one to do all the stuff that changes depending on which file from the first game you import! :)

  • Overall - what do you think is the better decision (considering what happens in ME2), saving or killing the council?

  • I'm glad I saved the council just because I can't wait to see their reaction once they find out the reapers have entered the galaxy.

  • Agreed, I want to make the Council live to regret ever doubting me!

  • Probably saving them as the old council at least gives you back your Scpectre status, while the new one won't even meet with you.

  • you can still get your spectre status even if the council is dead, just apoint anderson as the new consul, and he will offer to reinstate your old job (not that it will do much in the sequel)

however the only way to actually meet the council is to save the old one, cuz the new one is too afraid to even look at your face after you let the old one die.

  • @ddpoops2929 saving

  • I had a love/hate relationship with the council, I love to hate them, but if they died, I would have no-one to hate...

Well I can hate the Illusive man, but I can't keep calling him and then disconnecting.

    Hahaha.

  • i just want to save my all my teams mate how do i do it???

  • @adam18man

If you want everyone to survive you have to do their loyalty missions and make sure you buy the upgrades for the Normandy.

  • @JGigs93 you are talking about the 1st game right? 2nd can you upgrade your ship in the 1st game? what do u mean loyalty missions?

  • O no sorry I was talking about 2nd game. And no you can't upgrade the ship in the first one.

  • Also, you need to make sure the specialists are assigned for the correct assignments, such as Tali or Legion as a tech etc. Best chances for Mordin not to die is to make him escort the crew.

  • in the first game, the only squadmates who can die are ashley kaidan and wrex.

to save wrex have a max charm/intimidate or do his personal mission.

kaidan/ashley can't be saved, you must choose one to live and one to die, it's not posible to save both.

in the sequel to save everyone do their personal missions, asing the correct member for each task (tali for the tech, garrus as lead, jack as biotic)

  • so.. did the reaper die?

  • Just a warning: saving the Council in ME2 will make you a more liked person, but you're really gonna wish you let them die in the first.

  • some epic shit.

  • i just finished my first playthrough and i am wondering 2 things... 1: if i play through again and make different decisions, which playthrough will effect my me2 game? 2: i'm a tad confused on the story... isn't the ship that you see on eden prime sovrigen? if it is then whats up with the reavers waiting till now to attack? i thought there was something that saren had to do in order to let the reavers in, but i swear that the ship on eden prime is sovrigne. if anyone can help it would be awsome.

  • @Itmeow

    1) You choose which career file you use to play through ME2, and like ME1 you can play through multiple times.

    2) Yes the ship on Eden Prime is Sovereign. All the other reapers are holding outside of the galaxy. Sovereign was a vangaurd they left behind to open Citidal mass relay to let the reapers in. With Sovereign destroyed, that cannot come to pass.

  • after the credits can you play the same caracter you made in mass effect 1?

  • yea u can

  • @KronicStrafe

You can start a new game with the same character to level him/her up some more but you can't continue your already beaten game.

  • lol Garrus's electronic eye patch thingy...03:32 "IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAND!!!!"

  • y at the beginning of mass effect 2 sheopard is in critical condition

  • Sheopard?

  • @jamesito20 Shepard*

  • i dont get why people always want online for rpgs. rpgs are meant to be solo experiences.

  • @0neofthem playing with other people is fun.

  • on games like borderlands

  • AMEN!!!! I curse the day RPG's started to become soulless empty MMO's.

Online gaming should be restricted to shooters, sports, cars, and strategy games, but RPG's were meant to be inmersive cinematic experiences........

I hope bioware don't end up selling themselves because MMO's DO give A LOT more money than single-player games.

let's hope they choose to please their players rather than their pockets.

  • @Shakduhn: Both MMORPGs and standard RPGs can easily coexist. Both have their own unique strengths and weaknesses. MMOs aren't meant to have deep, compelling narratives.

  • @Shakduhn i disagree. mmo's have a huge potential to be incredible experiences, however making such a game is incredibly difficult. world of warcraft is probably the first rpg to go beyond the call of duty with their expansions, dungeons, and incredible side quests along with replay value. however, i agree that there needs to be a cinematic portion to it--it would take mmo's to the next step. a perfect mmo would beat a perfect regular rpg by principle. the potential is endless with mmo's.

  • @keaneee17 Actually, All MMO's Is Extremely lacking of "Story", WoW got a Half-Assed story... Feels like a Picture book :]

While Mass Effect has gotten Me Chained, Even moved my Bottomless heart... (Made me Save the Council, Yuck!) Mass Effect changed my Life, And the Story is something i should call "Epic"

I am proud to say, That mass effect is a Game i would play 24/7.

    - Commander Shepard.

  • @Shakduhn HEAR HEAR!

  • @Shakduhn well MMOs are good and they can retain the feeling of making your own choices as this is evidencied by Star Wars The Old Republic

i hope they do make a Mass Effect MMO after Star Wars The Old Republic

  • @Shakduhn Star Wars the Old Republic by Bioware looks like a hell of a lotta fun. It's got full voice and all....

other than that... yeah I don't like MMO's.

  • @Shakduhn What's the difference

  • @0neofthem No online game can EVER have a good storyline. Offline RPGs with multiplayer features work SOMETIMES but rarely. Its wierd because the original RPG Dungeons and Dragons could only be fully enjoyed with a good group, but yeah i agree, mass effect was a masterpiece, and it wouldnt have been as good online. I cant wait to play mass effect 2, im a little late to the party but ive been strapped for cash...

  • Saving the council is a good deed...

And as Jacob says in Mass Effect 2, a good deed is like pissing yourself in dark pants, it's a warm feeling, but nobody really notices.

Anybody who plays ME2 will understand what I mean when I say this.

When I play again, I don't intend on saving them. I'm going to do Anderson a favor and not make him Councillor also.

  • if it had online it would kick ass

  • yeah i just started a new game and bought HWM weapons there amazing =D mass effect 2 on friday cnt wait

  • If you can reach level 50 before going to virmire, you have the chance of buying the upgraded HWM X weapons, nothing beats them. But save your money because they cost ALOT. About 850,000 for the asault weapon and something like 1,300,000 for the Sniper rifle.

  • man wrex's armor looks sick. what armor is that?

  • Rage X

  • Yeah Rage armor is my favorite. The other two versions are nice aswell but not as nice as the Rage verion. Don't remember the names of the two others (blue/black and green/black). I think the green one is Battlemaster, isn't it?

  • what you do after finishing the game XD?

  • buy mass effect 2 tommorow and import the character

  • OMFG i just finised mass effect like 20 mins ago and i watch all the credets then go resume game and it just keep bring me bact to the fight with searen can someone please help me it would mean alot

  • if you want to replay the game with the same character with the same stats and items, go to new game then go to select preexisting id.

  • Chilling ending, i love Mass Effect!!! My Mass Effect 2 Steam pre load is complete, can't wait for Tuesday 2 PM EST for it to be unlocked :D

  • Wrex is actually sad for the first time! lol

  • Oh dang. I had them just concentrate on the Sovereign. -shrug- I hope it won't completely affect me in ME2.

  • the fleet survives.

if you save the council the human fleet is cut in half.

  • I did that ending today. I beat the game today that's probably the best one. Having everyone concentrate on Sovereign.

  • My first playthrough I used Ashley/Garrus. Only used Ahsley cuz of her tits. Now I use Liara/Garrus halfway through my playthrough.

  • anderson deserved a spot on the councel after losing his ship and the whole breakout scandle he deserved a prestegious career

  • I dont understand how even though I was level 60, I did not find the Nihlus or Battlemaster armors

  • engineers FTW!

it makes battles much more easier!

unless u prefer guns, then go for Soldier, but dont diss engineer cause someone fails to handle them...

  • Wrex is awesome !!! :)) To bad he isn't in mass effect 2 :( Now we got a krogan who just wants to fight :/

  • i thought wrex would be in mass effect 2 depending on whether or not you killed him on Virmire. that's what i heard anyway.

  • @CikkCris if u kill him, he wont. if you dont, he will be the leader of the Urdnot Clan

  • @Gash1234 yeah he is, if you dont kill him

  • I'm glad someone else appreciates the Garrus Wrex combo. Mass Effect 2 has me even more excited now that I know Garrus is coming back. I just hope that Grunt can live up to Wrex's awsomeness. It's between Grunt and Thane for me right now, Garrus being a definite yes.

  • I enjoyed Wrex while it lasted, but... I killed him. He would have jeopardized the mission. *shrug*

  • I enjoyed the Liara/Garrus combo most. Biotics are so badass!

  • Tali is overrated. She's a tech geek, so what. Wrex kicks ass and actually has a good sense of humor. Pretty much the only character that made me laugh.

  • Have you not played as an Engineer yet? Until that happens, then you can't possibly understand what makes techies so amazing.

  • I played a soldier and a biotic. I tried engineer and didn't like it. It's like a soldier with lame biotics.

I went through the game twice with Liara/Garrus, Tali/Wrex. The sidequests are horrible so I didn't bother going fully as engineer with the uninteresting human characters.

  • i think garrus tali and wrex are the most popular characters

  • hell Bioware sure are awesome makers right?

I mean, they made KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, all awesome games!

  • mass effect 2 soon can't wait

  • all humans did was zerg rush

  • Earth first!

  • That's why I get all my endings in smoking rubble instead of the presidium gardens.

  • wait how the hell is rex alive i always keep trying not to get him killed but that stupid bitch willams keeps killing him so can some one respond to me so how to keep him alive

  • u mean on virmire? u have to convince wrex to forget about the cure. To do so, u need a lot of points in the Charm or Intimidate category.

  • Yeah, and I think it helps to also do Wrex's side mission. The one about his family armor.

  • @assassinx12 or find his family armour

  • haha xD

yeah i know how you feel. first time she killed him for me too. But i was able to load a previous game and noticed that with enough intimidation skill i was able to talk him out of it (and get me an achivement)

  • @tehboxnoob or if you find his family armour, you can save him

  • I remember that battle being incredibly easy yet repetitive. Good on ya for beating him.

  • I always wonder at this point, where exactly is the huge Turian fleet you hear about all through the game? The fleet that is supposedly the pride of the council or something, you'd presume that the fleet could have at least helped out a little...

  • @ArtemisXe I'm presuming that most of the Turian fleet was wiped out by the initial Geth attack and the Alliance fleet that Joker showed up with mopped up the remnants of whatever Geth forces were left.

  • i let those BASTERS DIE .....

  • Haha, me too.

    Damn council.

  • yeah, i let them die without thinking. They never help you or believe you, and that damn turian councilor is the most racist fuck out there! whenever i would finish a major mission, hed have something to say that would just piss me off!

  • Yeah, haha.

I just played beat it again today mainly cuz when I played through the first time I couldn't stop Wrex from getting shot by the biotch Ashley =\ so this time around I kept him alive so I could have him come back in ME2. But yeah, I still let the council die and chose Ashley as the party member to be killed off. Screw them both. haha.

Off subject- I'm totally psyched to see Garrus come back in ME2. He was my favorite character.

  • yeah I love Garrus too. But my favorite was Wrex, but in ME2 apparently he is a leader of a Krogan Homeworld, and I really hope u dont have to fight him! I will just stop playing instead of fighting him! But, in regards to what you said about Ashley, I like her - and i let Kaiden die every time! He is looks really douchey and i dont really like him.

And FINALLY: That chick Tali(the quarian) is so annoying i never ever talk to her or even bring her on a mission. I dont think anybody likes her!

  • No need to get personal with it, it's just a game.

  • Im sorry but i am a game addict, and get very involved in them.

  • Dude. Have you SEEN Tali's fanbase? "Nobody likes her" my ass.

  • i think this was the best ending overall, shows that even though the council was biased towards humanity, they showed that they could be part of it by sacrificing and saving the council. plus, anderson needs a job after being court-marshaled for letting shepard go AWOL :P

  • I chose to save the councial and it was the best choice for everyone

  • No the best choice is to hold back and concentrate on Sovereign.

  • Comment removed

  • okay enjoy letting the entire galaxy die because you wasted your troops on saving an ineffectual parliamentary procedure

  • The humans died with honor, besides they have the other armies and the humans will build more and better ships.

  • Dude you must be a communist if you don't believe in diplomacy

  • sovereign isnt interested in negotiations. you can try if you'd like, but just look at how that ended for saren.

  • I know Saren commits suicide but its better to save a country with its democratic goverment then rebuild it with outsiders and let millions die.

  • Yeah if you're a dick and selfish FUCK.

  • I agree. The council chose not to believe anything Shepard said about the Reapers so I figured they deserved to face the consequences.
