  • Nice hat :)

  • I have a soft spot in my heart for small little kits . . . awesome!

I like the tip for closed cell foam. I always enjoy seeing how you do things . . . much to learn in observing the details. Good to see the plaque in its new home!

BTW - I need to get caught up on my back log of your videos . . . things have been a bit busy here! ;-)

  • John,

Really enjoyed this video. Am working on a similar unit at the college. I want to build my tuner too. Have a Great Day!!

    Doug,

Thanks for watching my videos and good luck with building the tuner. It would make a great YouTube video series!

  • John,

Great vid,up to ur usual standards. It's gud to see how you go abt things.I like the lil MFJ tuner but how do you measure ur swr?I didn't see a bridge?

Currently I favour resonant dipoles fed with RG174.No need for tuner or bridge, but I miss the flexibility to band hop and use a random wire.

Have you tried a W3EDP?It's a great antenna.I have had a lot of success with it.Email me if you need info on the W3EDP.It shud work wid tt MFJ tuner well..hpe u like my cw abreviations.

    Sandy,

Good to hear from you and hope all is well. Springtime has me busy, but still get a little time for radio.

Actually, I don’t use the tuner as much as I thought I would. Although I do have a small SWR meter that I can put inline, I usually use the Buddistick or a dipole.

Likely I will start leaving the tuner behind and put the battery pack (8 size D batteries) in the tote itself.

Would like a litte more info on the W3EDP if possible...thanks!!

  • [B'ham AL] Good stuff. I need to CW with you while portable-- hey, love the sign from Doc. Suggestion: I use these little boxes to carry things. The lid will come off sometime, somewhere---when you least expect. I would sure get small bungee cords or something to secure that lid. Sometimes you think the lid’s lip is secure on the box and it “ain’t” …. 73 AI4QT

  • @AI4QT

A little behind in getting back to you. I am a little worried abt the lid on the box, the bungee sugestions is good. Let's do CW...I'm slow and still need (lots of) practice!
