  • I suggest adding some blur for speed and maybe an idle animation for the gun

  • Isn't this game loitering UT99's Bunnytrack?

  • 1 weapon, trapped somewhere, no personality, modern looking atmosphere and trying to solve challenges yep this is definitely portal

  • vielen vielen dank super video endlich weiß ich wie es geht :)

  • wow this is really cool

  • It's like quake defrag ?

  • I think Alex Evans got the grappling hook idea from this game

  • Portal + you found the grappling hook + VVVVVVX = this.

    Best_concept_ever!

  • Reminds me of the Q3RA runs. Very nice looking game :)

  • wonderful :D looks great.

  • Now you're thinking with grappling hooks!

  • man i have been lookin for a free download for this one wow its taking for ever

  • looks ok but i wish i could remember this game with a grappling hook it was 2d with saws

  • Had a fun time playing around with this tonight. It's like Portal but not. I say that in a good way. Regardless, posted some gameplay footage of my first attempt.

  • Can this be played online?

  • @NiTro999T

Grappling Hook is a single player game.

  • Give up robot 3D

  • did you go to a video game school? because the audio and visuals are awesome!

  • @LBPThe2nd

    I've studied computer science.

I'm happy that you like the audio and visuals. :)

  • Noticed you havent got many comments in a while.

Is it free? It looks really good, and I hope you get some more attention for it :)

  • reminds me of portal except you have 1 portal

  • I can't help but think of the red plum-bobs as bad moods.

  • Really crazy game ! Never thought it was possible with Java !

  • Funny, I was just starting a flash, 2D version of something like this, when I found this. Though, my grappling gun likely has a few more modes... ah well.

  • look original ,i will try the demo...

  • Cellule by Silence

  • What's the song?

  • Kinda reminds me of Portal, but looks really fun, I'll download the demo no doubt

  • I really like the concept of this game. It's so simple yet executed so well. Do you have any plans for your next project? Also, what language did you write this in? C++?

  • Thank you!

The game is written in Java using the jMonkeyEngine.

  • Cool, i might look into that :o

  • Awesome game! Best 15 € I spend in a long time!

  • why is there gravity if this is supposed to be "outer space"

why does the "grappling hook" only change your inertia instead of "grappling" to surfaces

  • You can also use the hook to stick at blocks. There are puzzles in the demo and full game where you have to. Nice you noticed, that this is not showed in the trailer!

  • Nice game and cool idea. You wouldn't happen to need any more music for the final release? =)

  • Not for this project, but probably for the next. I really like your music.

  • Thanks, happy you like my music and please let me know if you need any for future projects :) Downloaded the Grappling hook demo and had a go! I really like the idea and the ease of navigation/getting started. Good with tutorials too although somewhat easy in the beginning, but that's probably good :)

  • I hope i win the contest for this!

  • i cannot find the mac version on the site. i am interested in your game.

  • The mac version will be available within the next 3 weeks.

  • awesome response time and news thanks

  • If you released this on steam Im sure you would get a lot more attention, + it would work great with steam achieves. I would buy it right now, but sadly i don't have the money. Expect my purchase in the near future!

  • Thanks for your comment.

I defiantly want to see the game in the Steam store.

  • Looks really good. I like how it feels like Quake 3- solid, polished, and satisfying. I might just get this...

  • Thank you very much.

The comparison with Quake 3 is a great honor.

  • its like a portal 2 !!

  • @Spunkyowns

its better cause it written in java.

  • loving it! looks like you have a whole lot of mechanics going on that can keep it entertaining for quite a while.

  • I have even ideas for more puzzles.

I'm pretty sure, that I will release some free additional maps.

  • Probably among JME's top 5 games ever. Awesome work Christian, you're doing a great push for Java in game development!

  • Thank you Erlend :)
