  • cool video i think 80 feet is hard i only have 80 feet on my rod good job

  • Those trucks sound really great!

  • yep 80 feet weeooo. oh wait that's not even a full standard line,

    fail

  • ahhh more worthless videos they litter the "net"

  • guy looks a lot like steve rajeff, which reminds me (this is directed to all the people who believe casting 120ft is common) with a 5wt rod and unmodified floating line steve rajeff can't cast much further than 120ft. if you don't believe me search "steve rajeff best of the west casting tournament" (a tournament held using 120ft 5wt/wf/f sharkskin tournament fly line, a matched sage tournament casting rod and a small yarn fly simulation) if I recall rejeff won with a 125ft cast

  • Well everyone i know thats doin flyfishin casts 80 ft. About all do 100 ft and most do 120 ft. 120 ft is worth mentioning.

  • 80 ft is not a long cast, its only 24.3 meters! 120 ft+ would be a longh cast in my opinion!

  • Train your casting before you film it.

  • 80 feet is nothing

  • @mhq945 what you sayin ? you can cast more than 80 feet ? if so, dont be stupid ! ive looked on your channel your a little kid who playes with finger skateboards ! haha

  • 80 feet a long cast. I've cast a full lenth 4 wt line out of an 8ft 4 wt rod and I don't consider myself a good caster by any means. This guys casting technique is pretty poor and he putting in a lof of unrequired effort.

  • That my friend, is physicly impossible

  • i thought u said 9 weight, yeah get ur shit straight, its obviously a really heavy rod

  • @BENNYFISHER77 my bad..it was a 5wt. 9ft... :)

  • @BENNYFISHER77 dude get a life, any talented caster can cast 80 feet who cares what its with. its amazing the set of balls some people get when they dont have to show their face

  • LIE thats a load of shit with the flex and extension of his arm he is clearly using a very heavy rod

  • @BENNYFISHER77 dude...I was there. It was a 5wt. Winston Boron

  • @BENNYFISHER77 the boron IIx has a weird tip to it nad theres no fighting butt its as most a 6 weight

  • Ok buddy ur using like a 14 weight rod, any novice fisherman could do that.

  • @BENNYFISHER77 he was actually using a 9 wt. Boron Rod

  • You need to learn how to double haul the correct way if you want to throw 80 ft.

  • You also need to learn how to double hall the correct way before throwing 80 ft.

  • Chuck Norris says 40 feet...!!!

And that his mom throws longer than that..!!

  • I call BS on this one! I was just there (the distance markers are marked with wooden fish). You are NOT holding 70 feet of line in the air with that form! You also have at least 20 feet of line on the ground next to you! Go practice because you are not fooling anyone!

  • @flyfish525 Agree! I flyfish at least 50 days a year, and 80 feet is tough. I've never needed to do it, but even for an experienced flyfisher it's tough. That wasn't even close to 80 feet. lol

  • thing it was 80 cm dawg

  • pics of the distance or it didnt happen!

  • I DONT NEED A CASTING FIELD ITS CALLED MY BACK YARD

  • he's casting very bad...

  • JOAN WULFF CAN THROW IT FARTHER

  • JOAN WULFF CAN THROW IT 80 FEET

  • We cant see that it goes 80 feet.

  • If you want to fish on the other side of the river, and the other side of the pool doesn't belong to you :)

Works great with Spey. Wade out, and cast away, just make sure you don't get caught in the current and WASHED away!! haha

  • Joe Brooks - fished worldwide - wrote for one of the major outdoor magazines long ago. His works are collected and respected: "So, while many anglers talk about what a long line they can throw, more importance should be attached to such things as careful approach, casting from the right

position...having complete control of line and fly, rather than to making a long and beautiful throw...missing a strike, scaring fish...winding up

with only a memory of a fancy cast."

  • who cares how far you can cast,it all about placement as roberteconnors said,i surpose it comes down to some people fish and others talk about it hahaha

  • Really poor technique and casting... there`s no question

  • man i can barly do 50 feet

  • Not to rain on this guy's parade either, but that isn't 80' he's throwing. Unless a person is fishing a 2-handed (spey) rod, striking the fish after a take is not as effective with 80' out. Furthermore, I see this guy as no than intermediate talent. Keep working at it, however.

  • Its more about placement than distance. In the Rapidan River, VA near Hoover Camp, you need to cast 15 feet to a spot 6 inches in diameter.

  • #6 shooting head, 150' no problem. Love my 5 wt sage.

  • @xlrationmarine

150'? Wow. What Sage model rod is this? Please let me in on that line and backing. You are my hero.

  • LOL in your dreams ace...histerical infact.

  • 120 ft with a 5wt is good

  • His back cast was to short to turn 80ft forward. Waste of time.

  • @simon3484

Not really. With anything above a 6wt it's quite possible to throw a whole 35 yd fly line with one cast if you can shoot enough line on the back cast (but I don't think he's letting much go here). But - what's a give away is that he's only retrieving about 5 yards of line between casts. If 80ft is going out - that means he's picking up over 20yds of line off the grass. Now that IS impossible.

  • oh and with a 9wt incase ppl were wondering

  • 80ft isnt that long. i have 90ft line and sometimes go 20ft into my backing(with a very small fly of course). and if you ever even need to cast that far you should be spey casting.

  • youre raping your rod :/

  • Hmmn. Dont' like to rain on anyone's parade but there's a whole pile of line lying on the ground AFTER the cast has been made. Not enough energy in the forward cast to shoot it. Don't know how he gets the leader to turn over if the line isn't snapping tight on the forward cast.

  • You saw it. I saw that same cast. I have been around several champion distance casters, and; this guy has a different cast. Smile.

  • That's interesting thanks

  • a casting field? wtf is this place? what a load shit.

  • Winston Rod Factory....Twin Bridges Montana

  • @fragsarino actually its a good idea faggot....someone wants to know how good the rod is you show them especially if the rod is like $1000

  • i have watched the video several times, this is not a 80 foot cast! his casting technique does not allow him to go further than 30 feet with a 6 wt line.

  • guides!! hum!

  • In what situation would you need to cast 80 ft?

  • Bonefishing.....

  • @ChamoPeskdor pretty much anything in the tropics u need a long ass cast...bonefish, permit, tarpon, the list goes on

  • @JRNY1605 seatrout...

  • @JRNY1605 @ChamoPeskdor pretty much anything in the tropics u need a long ass cast...bonefish, permit, tarpon, the list goes on

  • It didn't even show where it lands, so he can say 200ft if he wants, but how do we know that he actually did it????

  • If your going for distance or fishing in to wind.use the double haul.i can cast a 7wt cortland 444 peach to the backing.or if your wanting more distance than that try a shooting head and 20lb mono.just dont bother trying to fish with this method.i had casting tution with hywel morgan.world casting champion.costly but as they you get what you pay for.

  • With a bit of coaching you can break the 100ft mark.

  • I eat 13 year olds on breakfast every Friday...

  • Homeboy needs to let his backcast lay out better, I wouldn't be surprised to find he had one hell of a tailing loop.

I have personally cleared a 6wt. fly line from my Scott A2 906/4, had a nice tail wind. But hey it's doable. And I have fished with a number of guys who can clear a reel. But we are all guides.

  • he's barely hauling... its like a haul and a half... BIIx is a solid performing rod though, No doubt

  • maybe 30

  • 30ft if he lucky

  • Also no question if thats an 80 foot cast or not lol

  • I cast into hard winds on the ocean regularly and can throw 60-65 feet without too much trouble. 80 feet in dry land with no wind is a piece of cake with a good rod and a clean line.

  • Thats to say hes using a salt fly.

    They are more heavy.

  • I've been flyfishing for twenty years and still haven't met anyone who can cast a full line (120feet). At the end of the day, a spinning rod is still far more efficient than a fly rod will ever be.Unfortunately the fly only snobs will have you believe different.

  • There were a famous caster in my hometown and after seen 15 year old boys cast. He said Ive got nothing to learn you over here...

Most of my friends throw the full line out..

    Sweden rocks

  • What a moronic point to make. You don't use a fly rod for the casting efficiency, you use it for the challenge and to even the playing field with the fish.

  • keep trying

i live in Iceland and there is always wind in your face i do 30 meters in the wind dont push your arm out

  • he is throwing his arms in the forward cast no power

  • spey is the only way!

  • 80 feet is long on a fly rod. I can cast maybe 95 feet at best on fly.

I think the american record for single handed fly casting is 238 feet, which is damn far. I still don't see how that's possible.

  • 80feet? try 80meters

  • lol

  • 80 feet? try 80 yards.

  • looks like the professional wannabe fly fishermen are at it again, posting stupid comments, I don't see a video of you.

  • 80 is not very long.. 90-100 is quite long

  • 80 feet is a long cast. It really is.

  • YUP! For fly fishing, 80 is a "Very long" cast even for a pro...

  • spey cast is the best

  • haha my mom used to work there. xD 80 feet is a long cast. lol
