  • I trid some muscle ups at the gym, and got 1, almost 2. These are HARD. Though they'd be easy since its really just a pullup to a dip, but that transition part is really really challenging!! Once i can get a good 8 of these down i'll be happy with it

  • @JayDerrty Hi Jay - Crossfit 'muscle ups ' use a huge kip, jerking your knees up to unweight your body - that's why girls can do them and that's cool, but it's not a Guinness World Record legit muscle up. Crossfit 'pull ups' & m-ups' are nice becuse they encourage people of all strength levels to train. Just witness the top male crossfit competitors on the rope climb to gauge their true quality of bodyweight strength. Train hard.

  • @marcusbondi i should have it known that yesterday (12/8/2011 @ 6:20pm), after many months and many failed attempts, i accomplished my first muscle up!!! i did kip, but nonetheless, it happened. after the first one, the rest came pretty easy!

  • @spartaque14 no, she won the crossfit games this year. the info about her muscle ups is in the december 2011 issue of competitor magazine. her coach is the amazing carl paoli, elite gymnast from spain. either way, like marcus pointed out, crossfitters use a kip where he doesn't.

  • @JayDerrty She was kipping and using momentum. Nice try at putting down the great accomplishment that this man achieved. This guy (jaz) uses all upper body and no momentum to do his m-ups which makes it a strength move. I haven't seen any cross-fit guys that come close to this form and reps.

  • @JayDerrty As far as making money goes I'll agree they didn't fail, they take money from suckers all the time and have made it big doing it. As far as this claim that they're fittest on earth is just bullshit, they've taken a bunch of exercises that have existed for years, poorly mashed them together and claimed it's this great new fitness style. Every CrossFitter I know is a douche too, they always claim to be all badass than I beat them at their own workouts and I don't even do CrossFit.

  • @xXxMrMysteryxXx ive never heard any of them call themselves the fittest on earth. if any of them are making that claim, of course that can be argued. from a strength & conditioning standpoint for sports, it would be horrible to prescribe anything crossfit. there is no periodization to their programming. however, for the average person looking to become stronger, leaner, flexible, etc it's a perfect idea at a reasonable price. where else can you workout for literally pennies?

  • @JayDerrty They label the winner of the CF games "fittest human on the planet" I'm not even joking that's the title they give him, you can look it up. I think CF has a good blueprint but they're are better ways to go about it.

  • @xXxMrMysteryxXx well, if that's the case, we've just found something we can both agree on. rich froning won the 2011 CF games and yes, he's a fkn beast, but is he more fit than colby hall, the guy who is kickin the shit out of the spartan death races across the country? could he survive BUD/S training especially through hell week with 4-5 days of no sleep while still operating effectively? the guy is the best CF'er and that's about it.

Out of thousands of applicants, only 120 are eventually selected for the final 6 month elimination program, which includes ongoing sleep/food/psych deprivation and hell-marches with 40kg for dayts. Jaz finished 1st. He wasn't always beast; extreme training at Bondi Beach made him one. Train hard. Cheers Marcus

  • @JayDerrty There isn't really even a coherent definition of what CrossFit is, they basically claim anything besides bicep curls and leg press is CrossFit. I had a guy ask me at the gym if I do CF because I was deadlifting. So deadlifting is exclusive to CF now? The fuck is wrong with these people. Spealer said in one vid that he only does CrossFit but supplements is with 5,3,1 than says "but that's all still just CrossFit" no you idiot it isn't. This shits been around forever.

  • @xXxMrMysteryxXx I also think that the way they keep things constantly mixed up makes for a perfect "sports specific" (if you will) idea for people involved in stuff like MMA, SpecOps, Police, Fire, etc....professions that always see something different each day the uniform is strapped on. They constantly challenge the 3 energy systems at unexpected times. You never know what you're going to get until you walk into the gym. Just like at work.

  • @Drumheller477 It really does help you with weights, after not touching weights for about 3 years and only doing this stuff occasionally, I tried weights once for fun, DESTROYING my old max on bench and just about every workout.

  • @Drumheller477 Bodyweight training build inner strength.To lift heavy ,you have to lift weights.Inner strength. good for wrestling,boxing,martial arts,etc...If you combine lifting and bodyweight together then you can build all around strength

  • Search for RYAN FORD NINJA WARRIOR CASTING TAPE and you'll find that he can do 30. Skip to 1:08 to see them. I'm having difficulty keeping count because it's sped up but if you look at some of his other videos he might be able to pull it off.

  • @SuckItLily - Hi - Ryan is awesome! But he does not do even ONE SINGLE CORRECT FORM MUSCLE UP - he does 'swinging kipping fly-ups' or something. None of his would qualify as an Offical Guinness World Record Muscle Up. Using Ryan's form, Jaz would do about 200... Train hard - cheers.
