who gives a fuck if he got fat!! people who bring this up are lost assholes!! Hiram was a great guitarist and thats all that matters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It doesn´t matter how you look like.He got fat but he was one of the best guitar player in the world. The Big Problem with today´s generation is they are obsessed to be 65kg/men and 35kg/women...and today´s artists...they can´t sing, they are only dancing like prostitutes and nothink else.
It was sad to see him in Vienna perform in front of 30 to 60 people but those were the best concerts. Great fun, and magic in the air.
He played with Richard Muller in Bratislava - just half an hour away from Vienna. We could not get in there - 10.000 tickets sold... Live is sometimes crazy!
His Little Wing versions and dear prudence werde magic. The only version that comes close to that is on his homepage.
I´m so happy that he autographed my Cort Bullock on his last Vienna concert ;-)
RIP Hiram. A great player. His demons took him after he'd beaten cancer from what I read in an obituary. He supposedly went on a crack binge after a tour, and his body was so depleted after fighting cancer and years of substance abuse (he gone clean in the past), it achieved critical mass and broke down. I'd not seen images of him after gaining so much weight. But what a great musician. Gone too soon. God needed him in Heaven to play with the angels.
I meet him a couple of times. Great guy but the last time I met him...boy...he didn´t look good.
He got rid of the cancer - he published on the net.
I think someone posted he was playing with Richard Muller in Slovakia when he passed.
Just don´t know what to belive. Don´t believe the offical version ;-(
I will miss him very much as his concerts took a place in my heart and after having seen the best of the best I tell you his live performances are my top 3 ever... hard to beat!
softspoken; Hiram had throat cancer & it's possible the steroid treatment made him bloat. My goodness, he was brave. To me Hiram was like Sonny Sharrock and Jimi combined. Totally "outside the box" at times. What a terrible loss to the guitar world and not a mention of it in the daily news. Now if it had been John Mayer we would've heard!
Yes he was brave, he was so far out sometimes, and he played with great inspiration and heart, in a very acomplished way, he was damn good!
yeah it is sad, not a word in the news, not even that much on (good) music TVs, just small parts of concerts, in WDR and SWR, but where's 3Sat, they call themselves "the music channel", and where is Mezzo? not a f*** word
softspoken33; You have good reason to be angry! The guy deserve FAR more recognition. Hiram Bullock played with more major artists than most other guitarists ever dreamed. Miles Davis rated him highly so why don't the critics wake up!
guiterry: My apologies for any offence. I'm sure John Mayer is a fine guy but he's abit too "pretty boy-pop" orientated for me.(prefer Chris Duarte) But i wouldn't wish John any harm. The difference to me is that some guys take themselves too seriously whereas guys like Hiram Bullock just said "damn it all, let's have some FUN!" Hiram's going to missed.
Not at all man, and I didn't think you meant any harm to Mayer. Both are fine talents. Cris Duarte is good too. But it is an absolute shame that Hiram's death was pretty much met with ZERO coverage. I actually found about it on YouTube. How tragic is that. All the best bro.

It is a Cort signature model, he also uses a couple of guitars hand made for him by a Korean luthier

Hiram Bullock is a unique guitarist, a master of grooves, with a lots of technique and knowledge!
check his last records, the man is in shape, in tottal control!
he's fat probably because he left drugs and alcohol.
he's just great!
