Grab your rolling thunder handle and look at the scale of it to your hand. Now compare Felix' hand to the RT handle in this vid.... big hands are an advantage.
@burning1er Am I right in saying your bench is pretty good in comparison then? Short arms shortens the range of movement. C&J, and Snatch also favored people with smaller builds.
@burning1er I'm not surprised :) My arms and legs are are pretty long. My reach, or "wingspan" is about 76.5" at 5ft 3/4". I do more than double in deadlift in comparison with bench xD Last time i did it anyway. I havent lifted serious in like 4 years.
Look carefully at the size of the handle - like an Apollon Axle, it's not sat in the hand like a dumbbell. I've shaken that hand, and it's massive. An Apollon is akin to the size of a coke can, and when you try to lift it, it spins so that all of the force of the weight rips your grasp open as the weight just heads straight for the centre of the Earth. Being that Mark's one of the country's best lifters, and one of the strongest if not THE strongest grips...
excuse me for ignorance but does 300 pounds count as alot in this? i never tried that but i know i can pretty eaisly lift a 120 DB but i guess this one is harder
@muzimuzi Thing is the handle is a lot thicker than the average handle of a DB. And it gets worse... the handle ROLLS as you lift it. A very thick, revolving handle, with 300 lbs attached to it. So yeah, definitely a lot harder than lifting a DB
Its not the weight thats the issue its the size of the handle its like a coke can in your palm and the handle also spins in your hand so its very hard to grip
im not hating on mark himself but that seems like a dumb lift. i definitly couldnt do that much but it only comes off the ground a few inches id rather stick to dead lifting
@fitzyking1 Did he close his hand around the handle (yes, he did). Then....not only did he do it properly, he did it the only way there is! You can't cheat that lift, there is no way to do it, PERIOD.
rolling thunder are handles sold by ironmind. they attatch to a loading pin and (i think) the handle spins to make the grip much more difficult. ironmind specialise in equipment for improving the grip (and stronman stuff).
this is unbelievable...most strong men with a good grip max out at 225-240..i have been training on this at intervals and it is deceptively difficult..you can do a poundage fairly easily and then 15-20 pounds more will stop you cold..unlike squatting and deadlifting
Whats more impressive here is his grip that handle is fat

Alan7997 11 months ago
@Alan7997 Big hands are always an advantage in grip strength. Just as short legs and long arms are an advantage in deadlifts etc.

@paaaatrika lol, its funny cuz i have long legs, short arms, and small hands for my size. haha, im not complaining tho.
