I'm disabled and also a victim of police brutality. I called for police assistance in an emergency and all the police did was beat me up, searched my place without a warrant, stole my brothers last pack of imported smokes and stole food from my fridge and I never got an apology. They did not do their job at all in fact they just acted like jack booted thugs.
The police here in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada are nothing but a big joke that is not funny at all, in fact it sucks. The justice system, lawyers and the whole Sarnia, Ontario, Canadian police department can go fuck themselves in their asses with a vinegar and hot sauce soaked cactus for all I care.
I usually have massive confidence in our police force and the BBC and this is a disgraceful moment for both. I hope a lot more Britons shun this behaviour as I do.

@daeamarth The BBC is accountable to the license fee payers. That's the majority of the British public. Investment into the BBC is dependent on the public continuing to accept a license fee. So, the "investors" of the BBC are a group of millions (the British public), all with completely different political opinions. This ensures the BBC reminds unbiased to actually be acceptable to all those millions, with different views.
@ImNotADoctor5 Odd, I was only aware of the BBC being a private corp(19XX). If it is indeed truly controlled by public interest wholly then I retract my statement. I just did a 2-3 minute look up though and it would appear its about as "public" as PBS is in the US as of some number of months ago. ie: private corp underwriters, privately controlled and frankly the public has no say in what happens. It produces many entertainment shows (Hustle, Dr Who) but has a duty to produce programmes that wouldn't otherwise be commericially viable (like arts, culture, etc.) and to do so free from any advertisers or investors, with strict rules on quality and impartiality, and are accountable to these rules (The BBC Charter).

BBC Worldwide is how anyone outside of the UK experiences the BBC, and it's very different. The BBC is far from perfect, and BBC News gets things wrong, but it's the best news source by far. It's the only news source that is actual news, not opinions.
The thing about the BBC is that they are unbiased. They ask questions on both sides. I guarantee you when they had the police spokesman on they asked the question "what threat could a man in a wheelchair possibly pose?" Its their job to ask questions that provoke a debate. Not pander to the interviewer and paint them as a defenseless victim. I'm sure that is not how he saw himself!

I think that this is a little harsh on the BBC. 90 percent of the time the BBC does a great job. Sure, it fucks it up every so often, but it's still pretty good. In the UK, the newspapers suck and are full of crap but the news from the BBC is normally quite accurate, impartial and pertinent.

@daeamarth The BBC is accountable to the license fee payers. That's the majority of the British public. Investment into the BBC is dependent on the public continuing to accept a license fee. So, the "investors" of the BBC are a group of millions (the British public), all with completely different political opinions. This ensures the BBC reminds unbiased to actually be acceptable to all those millions, with different views.

I just did a 2-3 minute look up though and it would appear its about as "public" as PBS is in the US as of some number of months ago. ie: private corp underwriters, privately controlled and frankly the public has no say in what happens. At best only their tax dollars go into it as "reps" see fit. PS. I love PBS and BBC just skeptical.

@daeamarth Depends what part of the BBC you're looking at. There are two parts of the BBC. There is the main BBC, which operates solely in Britain, funded by a £130 UK TV license. It produces many entertainment shows (Hustle, Dr Who) but has a duty to produce programmes that wouldn't otherwise be commericially viable (like arts, culture, etc.) and to do so free from any advertisers or investors, with strict rules on quality and impartiality, and are accountable to these rules (The BBC Charter).

BBC Worldwide is how anyone outside of the UK experiences the BBC, and it's very different. BBC America, for example (operated by BBC Worldwide) broadcasts almost exclusively commericially viable entertainment programmes. BBC Worldwide is a private corporate.
The only true way to experience the real, high quality BBC, is to live in Britain.

The girl who was tortured to death by her parents for example, it was ITV who had to do a documentary on that to show it was done because her parents thought she was a witch, and as it says in the Bible she needs to be killed. BBC left out that portion of info, but they arn't afraid of labeling attacks racist or sexist.

The thing about the BBC is that they are unbiased. They ask questions on both sides. I guarantee you when they had the police spokesman on they asked the question "what threat could a man in a wheelchair possibly pose?" Its their job to ask questions that provoke a debate. Not pander to the interviewer and paint them as a defenseless victim. I'm sure that is not how he saw himself!
Anyway, I think the British public is savvy enough to see through this argument. The question rejects itself.
