  • @chezXzehc , You were just full of Emotions and Fun times .

  • strategery22 - What in the WORLD are you smokin' ???? YES!!! Jerry Jeff Walker wrote this song, and everyone who follows him knows it. Come on!

GIVE ME A BREAK! Boooooo! ;)

  • Good clean vocals.

  • Ilike this but i like Sammy Davis Jr. better he almost makes me cry and I am a grown man.

  • This song brings me on the brink of tears especially the part of losing his dog.

  • Poor sound & who's that singer?

  • @Myrtle791 Jeff Hanna always sang Mr. Bojangles for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, spanning 40 years-In 2007, they are not young men anymore-These guys are still some of the best musicians going-

  • We are seeing them next Monday night!!! Can't hardly wait!!

  • Jerry Jeff Walker is credited with writing this song. I don't believe it. I think he ripped it off from somebody and claimed he wrote it. It sounds like nothing else he ever wrote before or since. Just my songwriter intuition.

  • @strategery22 wtf are you stupid? Jeff wrote the songs, my teacher of knows this. Because hes her second cousin, and the song is a true story it really happened.

  • 2007 these guys still around?

  • I like this song, because it takes you back to old times and things like that.

  • One of my favorites.

  • so few comments for this wonderful song? :(

  • Great song.

  • my idol...........

  • NGDB is absolutely the most underrated, but absolutley one of the most highly influential bands of the past 40 years.

First REALLY heard them on a roadtrip to Denver in '83 when it was my turn to drive, and I saw a cassette called "Dirt, Silver, and Gold." Plugged it in and was hooked ever since.

(Yes, I posted this elsewhere, but it had to be repeated). If you haven't been to a Dirt Band concert, hit one if you can before it's too late.

  • You can still see them in concert and they're still great. Just not quite the same without Ibby (Jimmy Ibbotson), though. He was so much a part of this band for so many years and his absence is very noticeable.

  • I agree but the members have come and gone many times over the years. Jimmy I. Is one of the nicest guys I've ever known. In fact they're all incredible people, I've known them for 30 yrs now and have had some fantastic times with them. Just glad that they're still going after 40+ yrs and hope they're around for many, many more.

  • You can still see them in concert! I going to see them in Oct in Missouri at Wildwood Springs Lodge. Great "up close and Personal" concert. Have dinner with them, talk to them at breaks,- awesome.

  • the best version is off the uncle charley and his dog teddy album. what a great intro

  • important enuff to make a comment

  • bill robison starred with shirly temple

he was mr bojangles not le tang

but letang worked with sammy davis jnr so thats maybe where it comes from

  • this version is the best!!! i don't like Dylan's version...

  • Go to the source. Jerry Jeff Walker.

  • I agree. Jerry Jeff Walker wrote the song and is the source. JJW and David Bromberg have the best version on YouTube. Bromberg is a great guitarist.

  • i name my kid after this,,,,,,mitch here

  • sandman..I agree

  • thank you opigoink!!!

  • just a note...Dr. Henry Letang 91 was a choreographer for the movie Bojangles...the song was written about a black dancer/actor named Bill Robinson. He was a vaudeville performer and danced in many early movies, especially in 1935 and 1938 Shirley Temple movies.

  • Correct!! Mr. Bojangles was in fact a tribute to Bill Robinson.

  • Actually no, that's a common misconception.

  • Mr.bojo did exist you know?

  • yea his real name was henry letang...he just passed away april 27 this year

  • If Jerry Jeff Walker aint singing Bojangles it should'nt even be sang

  • i dont know about that i love both versions

  • great job!!! BRAVO!!!
