I know what they went through at Wanat, I was in a similar fight at COP Keating 3OCT2009. One of our replacements, SGT Mark Perez, was with 173rd and knew alot of the men killed at Wanat. To those 9 lost at Wanat and the 8 we lost at Keating, we love you and you're always in our thoughts.

lets say i get an airborne infantry contract. is it most likely i'll be stationed at an Airborne unit? or is it up in the air? i don't mind leg infantry, it's just that parachuting is badass.
@britishairborne right. you can have a wish list of where you'd like to be stationed, knowing there are specific units in that base or whatnot. for instance, if you really wanted the 82nd Airborne you would put Fort Bragg at the top of the list. but really, its up to "needs of the Army." so you might find qualified paratroopers serving in a non-jumping unit, called leg Infantry. same Infantry deal, but no jumping. you Brits have it made. correct me if im wrong, you can pick specific units.

great video guys, one of the best us military videos out there. I was there first hand they appear wreckless but these guys do the best they can to minimize any accidents and not take out civs. No denying 173rd professionalism in combat. Bunch of my buddies including my squad leader were at wanat. :( How bout a couple shots thrown in w/ some soccer, the kids and ana to clarify to those who don't understand what we're about next go around.

a brigade is about 1/3 of division the 173rd was smallest autonomous unit to serve in Vietnam, the only unit to do a combat jump there and the still the only unit left that knows how to stand in the door -AIRBORNE-All the Way

The reality is obama has already quit he knew if he refused the request for troops he would be called the president who lost the Afgan war so he agreed to 30,000 troops but also said they will be out in 18 months so at the end of the 18 months he can say hey we gave it our best and it didn,t work out.

The war in Iraq should never have happened it was a major stategic blunder which has cost the U.S dearly 4500 dead soldiers and over 700 billion spent to date.
And that is just the start the on going medical costs of wounded troops will drive the costs even higher.
I wouldn,t have invaded Afganistan after Sep 11 they should have just used special forces to find targets and call in airpower on them.
