ALL THE years he was in office. He and you have led us into complete depression. We the people are suffering!! Our states are broke and there are no jobs.THis is an accomplishment to you senators?? You should all be fired on the spot. This elections showed this clearly. We will not stand for your outrageous spending and Communism! We work hard for our money! no longer will you and "russ freegold (fakegold)" give it all to the lazy, freeloaders, that do nothing for the future of the country. FU
Sadly, I could not disagree MORE!. This coming from a lifelong Wisconsin resident and independent political person. Why do you think you did not agree with Russ Feingold Senator Mccain on many issues>?? Sure he was your "friend" you say...you say this many times. You did not agree with him because he was a terrible leader that voted for terrible things much like you Mccain. This coming from a lifelong Wisconsin resident. Ask any WI resident and no one knows a single thing Russ did for us in a
Russ was a true maverick and concensus builder. He made great friends on both sides of the aisle, and was willing unlike many members of the upper chamber to put his political carrer at risk to fight for issues that he cared so deeply about. He was a man of character and a voice of bipartisanship when there was hardly any these last 6 years. I may not like McCain much and I did not vote for him in 2008 but this speech goes to show you how many people of all kinds regardless will miss Russ
This was a courageous (and poignant) speech for McCain to give considering the fact that Feingold has long been considered a burr under the saddle of the Senate Dems because he has integrity and fortitude. He could and will never be bought or sold.
Sad that Russ lost? you people Are such assholes! This is the reason that MC was not elected president. Why elect the fake commie when you can get the real thing! The best thing that could happen to us (the US) is obama. This will scare the shit out of real Americans.. McCain-- you have been comprimised in those commie camps, you have probably been altered, thank you for your service, but please shut your fucking mouth!
@pigmanobvious You can't seriously think Obama's a communist. He passed a healthcare bill based around the Republican idea of an individual mandate (thx Romney & Hatch), shelved the massively popular public option, passed a stimulus bill which was 1/3 tax cuts, kept Gitmo operating, extended the War in Afghanistan, and now he's about to sign a law to keep the top income tax bracket at 2.6x lower than it was in the 1950s (91% then vs. 35% now).
You are as clueless as the next repub. Unless you live in Wisconsin and know Russ's track record you should stifle it. If your only attack is calling him a commie then it's clear that you have not a clue on the subject.
@cx4shot The only track record I will mention is his vote for the HC bill. When 60% plus of his constituates say no and he still votes with his party and not his state. I am from WI. I dont know what you call that kind of representation where you come from, but here in the dairy state we say GOOD BYE! Libs are the clueless ones. They think money can just be printed out of thin air and all will be well. That attitude has come from having it too good for too long. They need to study history.
banned lobbyists giving gifts to senators, he was for expanding gun rights, accepted no pay raise, any unused office budgets went back to the state's Treasury totaling $3+Mil, was a huge supporter of a reduction in pork barrel spending and corp. welfare...the list goes on as why Feingold was WI's true voice for the people...You people just wanted anyone that was a Democrat out of office since the HC bill was such a big issue. Feingold did well for this state. We will miss him
@cx4shot No I will have to correct you on gun rights. Fiengold voted for the assult rifle (so called) ban in the 90's which included a ban on high cap magizines. That alone should be enough let people know where he stands on the 2nd Ammendment. Libs do not berlieve in the right of the people to rise up against a tyrannical government. @pigmanobvious You have no idea what a lib is. I'm a liberal that owns many guns and I know what Feingold's stance was on guns. He voted to prohibit the UN from strippinh away US ownership, and voted allowing guns in checked baggage of Amtrak stations. You don't know anything about Feingold except for whatever right wing radio or tv tells you. I'm a lib that wishes for smaller government but I care for the welfare of others. Your posts indicate you are spoonfed info rather than research...
if a true catastrophe occurred I believe the American people would band together unlike republicans drones like you who wish to divide this nation with exaggerations. Also it is not the nature of Americans to uprise against a government since a revolution is usually committed by liberals hence the word LIBERATION. Che Guevera was a liberal that successfully pulled off a revolution. I listed a few of Feingold's positive and all you can come up with was guns? SHEEP!
@pigmanobvious But seriously of this whole conversation you said HC and guns. This proves that you must be one of the many hundred ill informed pseudo tea party members that only rant about HC and guns. Here's a fun fact for you, of all the Red states in the USA they are the ones that take the most Federal money for their states. Do I smell hypocrisy??? Your people bitch about smaller government but in turn want government aid. You need to wake up and realize Ron Johnson is not WI answer.
@cx4shot Everything I said is true. Wi people were 60% against the HC bill and he still voted for it..You are the one who said he was for expanding gun rights which is a lie. I do not need to prove anything as the facts bear me out. If he was pro-gun he would have a NRA "A" rating, which he did not. If Wi was happy with HC he would still be our senator! So YOU own many guns do you? Are you also a NRA member? Oh one more thing-- I like the way you mention the communist Che, it says much!
@pigmanobvious It's an called example as a revolution i.e. uprise. Did I say I was for communism? No. People have been against the health bill since the Nixon era. Yes Nixon was the first to introduce nationalize health care. Even if Russ was against the HC he would of been voted out since WI voters wanted every Democrat out. Do you not realize how much Feingold did for this state? No all you care about is guns and HC. I gave you exampes of his expanded gun rights but you refused to listen.
@cx4shot You did not say you were a commie and I did not call you a commie.. I only thought it signifigant that you would mention one as an example. Nixon was not the first but FDR to try for soc-med. What did Fiengold do for this state? That I do not know' I only know what he did TO this state! KAGEN, SODASAYMORE(or how ever the fuck you spell it) and I do believe Ginsberg. Need I say more?
@pigmanobvious Also why are you getting mad? Because you like being lied to by your party? or the fact your head is so far up your ass that the only thing about Feingold that makes you mad is because what right wing media told you to be mad at? Rush and Fox are your masters so that makes you a follower and a slave to the rightwingers. SHEEP. Whats funny is you think Im a Democrat because I defend Feingold. @pigmanobvious this is why your party is a joke. You supporters tarnished the republican name with your outcries of exaggerations from the media. Its ok sheep, when Ron Johnson ever decides to poke his head back up maybe you will come to light but I'm not holding my breath as your mind is too feeble and simple to comprehend reality. @pigmanobvious Man I cant stand misinformed people that resort using the word commie. By your logic your party are fascists and what bothers me is how Dems and Reps just smear each other. You guys dont care about the county you care about who can be blamed the most.
Actually the first person to introduce healthcare was Truman. Richard Nixon was the first for a health care reform which Obama had passed. I agree with Feingold, I'm a Libertarian voter however I also voted for Russ Feingold.

I nearly cried after watching this video. I love Feingold. He listens to actual constituents (like me!) at listening sessions as opposed to corporate lobbyists. I know his sister, who is a rabbi in Kenosha and a wonderful person as well. I wish him the best for what comes ahead after the end of a US Senate career distinguished by unmatched ethics and integrity.
It is sad that Russ lost because of the very principals he fought against in Campaign Finance Reform Bill. Ron Johnson spent millions of his own money, and received hundreds of millions of outside money, outside of the state of Wisconsin, and in some cases even outside of the United States. Russ stuck by his convictions that elections shouldn't be "bought" and that leaders should be elected for their ideals not their money...
Does Sen. McCain ever reflect that HE is the one who cynically elevated the Tea Party Queen to her position where she can slam and trash a true hero like Russ Feingold?

This video stirred some emotions in me. It's so disappointing to me that we put another pawn into the Senate when we had one of the most principled and genuine politicians in the country representing us.
As much as I grew to dislike McCain in the last decade this was a heartfelt dedication from one friend to another and seems to be one of the rare times the real McCain has peeked out of the partisan shell he's withdrawn into.
And this distraction brought to you by your friendly co-author of the NDAA bill...

Feingold was a great senator. Johnson is a corporate puppet. It is a sad day for Wisconsin.

@Gowalum I'd prefer Feingold-McCain 2012 (or 2016 if I have to).

You were at one point. Remember?
