@kattowitz4 Being American is not defined by blood since Americans are not a race you moron. There are Kenyan Americans, Chinese Americans, German Americans etc. If he was born in this country he's every bit as American as you or me.

Maybe if you took a history class you'd know that the people that took over most of North America and dubbed it the United States are from EUROPE. We are ALL mixes of EVERYTHING. @ArghAgrh It's what we call ourselves and what the world recognizes it as. All the other American countries already have their own names- Canada, Mexico, etc. We call ourselves American because.. what else can we call ourselves? United Statians? O.o It sounds silly.
So yes, it is a nationality. People in the US are known as Americans.

@kattowitz4 Define American. My ancestors moved from the United States to Texas when it was Mexico and have been here since, but yet half of me is French, Hawaiian and Portuguese from my Dad's side. The founding fathers were completely European; Jefferson missed the signing of the Constitution because he was in France, but you wouldn't question them. He has no control over what his ancestors did and neither do you.

@kattowitz4 and dear sir you are full american? you do realise this country is made up of individuals who ultimately have ancestors born outside of this country. Be it during the mass immigration influx of the 1890's-1920's or even from the Mayflower era...all Americans in the final analysis have grand-parents or great-grandparents (however degrees you want to go back) that are something else than "American".

Notwithstanding Obama's bumbling and such, how did Dr. Rick Warren take Mr. Obama particularly seriously at all, in the first place? From having interviewed, essentially, Mr. Nobody, aka "The cool new kid on the block", to a true American hero, established, seasoned politician in John McCain (albeit, not at all a strong campaigner of a mainstream candidate towards the U.S. Presidency). Maybe, it indicates enough of an extent of classiness, respect, respectability in Dr. Rick Warren's character.
