I read on the ST: Phoenix website that the producers are petitioning CBS or whoever owns the copyrights to Star Trek to get this to become the next televised Star Trek series; I hope they succeed, it's got a familiar, yet different feeling for me. May the Great Bird of the Galaxy smile upon you, Star Trek Phoenix.
This is pretty sweet, but I would love to see a show based onboard the USS Victory. Lots of history associated with the ship as well as Geordi Le Forge served on it prior to his service on Enterprise.
My biggest suggestion would be to display the titles the second the Phoenix appears. You can then do your "pass under" effect while the title is on screen. Also beware that it seems to drag a touch. I realize that the other Trek series' openings have been 1:50 each, but they either had much more dynamic music or dynamic scenery and were thus able to keep it interesting. Still a very VERY good effort for a fan film.
The warp in effect is terrible and looks like something you'd see on the original playstation. Your "passing under the camera upside down" move is fantastic, but you need to begin the rotation far earlier. Ideally, the ship should be rightside up before the title display - otherwise it's rather disjointed with the ship's name upside down while the title is displayed rightside up. The post-title roll is WAAAAY too fast, it made me dizzy watching it. By far the best effect is the in-warp sequence.
