Quite remarkable recording isn't it? No Fake Drum Machine/Pitch Adjuster/Tuneless rubbish, just some guys singing a beautiful melody the way music was intended. Thank you for posting.
@Boredofcheesynoodles Que triste tu cuento! Ojala que el Nick pueda descansar en paz, y que su familia quedara tambien con recuerdos de una buena vida, y la gracia del dios.
Bob, I commented on this record when you uploaded it two years ago. I just listened to it again, and it's quite a stunning performance. I note that the Shannon Quartet recorded this early electric record in the same manner as an acoustic and not in the "new" quartet sound of the second half of the '20s.
you don't know the emotions this songs brings to me/ my father was never a man that showed much emotion but he used to sing this to me and my sister when were little children and now we are in our 50's and it can still stop me dead in my tracks just how such a "big" man could be so tender with his daughters/ thanks so much
My father gave me music box that played this tune. I had never heard the words before. I just moved two thousand miles away from my family....this brought me to tears. Thank you for posting it!
I enjoyed this quite a bit, and great audio considering how old it is. The only thing I take issue with is that the title says quartet, but the picture has 5 people in it(quintet). This may simply be an oversight, but I thought I'd bring it to your attention in case you'd want to edit the title.
It wasn't an oversight. The Shannon Quartet and The Revelers (photo) were the same group. They added a fifth member when they sang as the Revelers. I did not seperate them out when I posted this. If you look at some of my recent posts of the Shannon you will see the four quartet members. Thanks for visiting.

Anybody know where I can get this song, complete with full refrain, dots, or better still the chords - please?
This version was beautiful, BTW! - I love hearing these, as they were originally penned, and performed by the best available in the era....
