  • Quite remarkable recording isn't it? No Fake Drum Machine/Pitch Adjuster/Tuneless rubbish, just some guys singing a beautiful melody the way music was intended. Thank you for posting.

  • this was hip young music in the 1920s all the young artists and bohemians sang it in cafes. its a long way form the hipster music of today's youth.

  • @Boredofcheesynoodles Que triste tu cuento! Ojala que el Nick pueda descansar en paz, y que su familia quedara tambien con recuerdos de una buena vida, y la gracia del dios.

  • i just got a sing-a-ma-jig that sings this song as an early valentines day gift. :)

  • Bob, I commented on this record when you uploaded it two years ago. I just listened to it again, and it's quite a stunning performance. I note that the Shannon Quartet recorded this early electric record in the same manner as an acoustic and not in the "new" quartet sound of the second half of the '20s.

  • @EdisonSquirrel Did you listen to the new post with improved sound?

  • great man just plain fantastic

  • @aznbmxer182 I posted a cleaner copy a few days ago on my channel. You might want to listen to it at 480p

  • @pax41 no way! awesome!

  • Anybody know where I can get this song, complete with full refrain, dots, or better still the chords - please?

This version was beautiful, BTW! - I love hearing these, as they were originally penned, and performed by the best available in the era....

  • @Tobytrim Try this site webapp1.dlib.indiana.edu/inharmony/welcome.do

BTW, I will repost this with better sound quality today.

  • @pax41Thanks for that!! - Actually , the sound quality on this wasn't too shabby - everything considered

  • finally the full song! lovelovelove!!

  • @coffeescup Glad you like it and I will repost this with better sound quality. This was an early post by me and before I got better at my transfers.

  • you don't know the emotions this songs brings to me/ my father was never a man that showed much emotion but he used to sing this to me and my sister when were little children and now we are in our 50's and it can still stop me dead in my tracks just how such a "big" man could be so tender with his daughters/ thanks so much

  • @waxthedish

Glad I could help you with those fond memories. Thank you for stopping in at my channel.

  • Hey Pax41, when did the Shannon Qtet record this? I believe the music was published in 1910...100 years ago

  • Yes but this is a later group and electric recording.

  • this was my parents "song". my dad used to sing it to my mother. if he could listen to this now he'd be singing the bass with it. :)

  • thank you! :)

  • This one;s for you mama. I miss and love you.

Its almost 2010 and I am keeping my promise to you. I can't go to see the ball drop but I'm loving your music.

  • res-plden-dent!

  • I really should repost this one with improved audio. Thanks for watching

  • My mother always sings this one to my daughter but I never heard the whole song before

  • My Great Aunt used to sing it to me while she ironed. She lived to over 100.

  • My father gave me music box that played this tune. I had never heard the words before. I just moved two thousand miles away from my family....this brought me to tears. Thank you for posting it!

  • You are very welcome.

  • nice post

  • outstanding, thanks so much for posting this!

  • My pleasure, glad you liked it.

  • This is beautiful, and it evokes such happy memories.

    Thank you for posting.

  • I enjoyed this quite a bit, and great audio considering how old it is. The only thing I take issue with is that the title says quartet, but the picture has 5 people in it(quintet). This may simply be an oversight, but I thought I'd bring it to your attention in case you'd want to edit the title.

  • It wasn't an oversight. The Shannon Quartet and The Revelers (photo) were the same group. They added a fifth member when they sang as the Revelers. I did not seperate them out when I posted this. If you look at some of my recent posts of the Shannon you will see the four quartet members. Thanks for visiting.

  • Beautiful!

  • Exquisite version! Thanks so much.

  • it sounds might fine to me...thanks.

  • gee...this is superb...what a marvellous version. you've done it again...

  • wish my copy was in better condition
