i never understood how one can read so many notes so quick...
I can understand something like Taiko on Oni on Guitar Hero, but not this.. DJ Max, Beatmania, Pop'n Music, they're personally the extreme of all rhythm games.
It actually has nothing to do with speed, but rather with the spacing between notes. The faster the speed rate, the wider the gaps between notes which makes it much easier to read.
In fact, using a slower notescroll speed is much more difficult since all the notes are cluttered together which makes the notes harder to read. However of course, using a really fast scroll rate isn't that much easier either as notes will fall way faster before you have a chance to react.

How long have you been playing the game? I can barely max combo songs on 4b mode...

As of now, 2 years. I've started with O2Jam which was 7-key, so transitioning to DJ Max on 7-key wasn't much difficult at all.
