And we can never say Viv is more gud than sachin or sachin is more gud than viv. They two no three[Bradman] are great players. Stats also don't take into consideration his Fibrositis (muscle degeneration) which subsequently led to the demise of his eye sight. After the war, he didn't play cricket for another 5 years. To do all that and still average 100 is fucking epic. He is the pinnacle.
Having said that, I'll probably never be blessed enough to witness a player better than Sachin. He is the king of our time.

Bradman even drew record crowds in England, that's how much respect the cricketing world had for him.

1. Bradman's superior batting average.
2. During Bradman's era, there was only a few great batsmen with averages > 50runs. Whereas Tendulkar's era has many. Batting is easier now than it was in Bradman's era. The stats show this.
3. 5 times Bradman has Test scores higher than Tendulkar's highest score of 248, yet Tendulkar has played more than 3 times the number of test matches.

he never played on powdery wickets of India where part timers can turn the ball square, remember six wicket haul by Clarky boy. I am not undermining the fact that Sir Viv was not great, I am a huge fan of the genius, its just that these statements of not wearing helmets in his defense are simply Idiotic. In Viv's era, we never saw teams chasing 300+ totals either, there used to be 60 over games as well. I know his strike rate was always better than Tendulkar, still these comments hold no true.

@darshanshah1983 You can't argue with statistics. Bradman will probably be the greatest player ever. Stats also don't take into consideration his Fibrositis (muscle degeneration) which subsequently led to the demise of his eye sight. After the war, he didn't play cricket for another 5 years. To do all that and still average 100 is fucking epic. He is the pinnacle.
Having said that, I'll probably never be blessed enough to witness a player better than Sachin. He is the king of our time.

Richards played for the possibly the greatest team of all time, where as SRT has been part of an average team. I don't know why the no helmet is such a big issue, SMG never wore any helmet either, but if both of them were playing now, they'd be wearing it, it's the period, eg, even keepers wear helmet now too. ICC rankings for Test batsmen based on their "peaks" has the KING at 5 after Bradman, Hutton, Hobbs and May resp. T'kar is not far behind at 26 :)
The rankings for ODI batsmen based on their "peaks" has the GREATEST ODI BATSMAN EVER Richards perched at no 1 and again FTB T'kar is not far behind at 12 :)
Also both the peaks by T'kar were against the gr8 Zim attack :)

T'kar would have averaged <30 in the Packer Series against four 90 to 100+ mph bowlers bowling together on fast bouncy pitches without helmet without rules protecting batsmen. Your comparing Qadir's one-off over on a subcontinental track with those tracks and attacks over years betrays your utter ignorance. 90% of former cricketers and fans will tell you that Packer was the greatest concentration of cricketing talent ever past present future wrt everything except spin bowling

If Richards had 1) the flat tracks of the 90s and today, 2) minnows like NZ, Zim, Ken, Ban attacks, 3) pathetic WI bowlers like Rose and Dhillon and English ones like Gough and Hoggard, 4) tons of protective gear (even then he would not have worn helmet, abdomen-guard, arm-guard, chest-guard, cock-guard, ass-guard etc like FTB T'kar), 5) a hundred rules crippling bowlers, 6) and if he OPENED in these dream-come-true conditions, Richards would have averaged 200+ and had a sr of 200-250.

When medium-pacer McGrath can make T'kar with helmet duck on a docile pitch into good-length balls, and Donald, Shoaib, Jones etc can hit him on the helmet then on the 70s and 80s pitches, Lillee, Thommo, Imran, Marshall and MANY others would have smashed helmetless T'kar's head to 10000 pieces.

I would rather watch KING Vivian Richards' 153* in 130 vs Lillee-Thompson-Hogg at their deadliest in Aus at the MCG in '79 on a fast bouncy uncovered track without helmet and no rules favoring/protecting batsmen rather than this against shitty club-level bowlers in almost home conditions on the flattest track ever with tons of protective gear and a hundred rules favoring batsmen. Richards was by miles the greatest ODI batsman ever - past present future; Daylight second; We can start from No 3.
