i had an 8 year old cat along with my jack russell 3 years ago. He was already a year old, the dog and man did they fight alot. My cat was a real fatass though so Jack never really could do anything. We also recently gotten a new kitten and the dog is real fine with it! alot of people think all jack russells want to kill other animals but completely not true!

To all those concerned about them being harmed: if that cat wanted to really hurt that dog, he would have been slashing him with claws, ears back and going for blood. They were playing. It may seem a little rough, but animals are smart enough to hold back. My russell and tonk wrestle all the time, and when it goes too far they will let each other know. Usually a warning growl or hiss is enough to stop it.

To all concerned about our Jack Russell and Cat wrestling in this video. The cat is now 11 years old and the dog is 8 yrs old and although they don't wrestle anymore they get along just fine. They are never left alone together one of us is always in the room supervising. The video was made when the cat was 3yrs old and the jack russell was only about 5 months old.  They respect each other's territory.

We appreciate the comments to all who were concerned about their welfare and eases any fears.

LOL, I had a cat just like that, and I still have the Jack. The only difference is my cat didn't play, she put the fear of GOD into dogs. My Jack, who is an Alpha Female, tried to bark at the cat, all up in her face (in one of their accidental chance encounters). The cat popped the Jack in the snout so hard, you could hear it 20 feet away. Needless to say, the Dog avoided her like the plague after that.

Not to worry my cat is declawed also the cat is 10yrs old now and the dog is 7yrs old and they still get along but don't wrestle anymore! They grew up and learned the meaning of respect for each other and their boundaries.

Truth is Jack Russells normally don't get along with cats. My JRT was 11 wks old when we got him and the cat was already 3yrs old being so young he related to the cat like its mom although the cat is a male. Now my JRT is 7 and cat is 10 and they still get along but don't wrestle like when they were young. Cat ignores him most of the time now but always alert when the dog is around him.
