I have a 55 (non glass top) 1 owner 52K mile car and the value is in the history of the car. If its original it has history . Thats why I have no time for fibreglass 32 and 34'ss
Sure brings back memories of my '55 convertible. This car was stock everything and with the stock auto-trans. you could still get rubber in3RD GEAR!!!
This one is nice. I just cant get tired of the sound. How is the exoust system modified for the lake pipes ? Any picture you can mail or web site i can look ? I have a 55 crown vici with 272. Every thing is stock. BUT after i have seen this video, i ordered lake pipes. And now i wonder have i but them on. There is no bracket to mount the lake pipes to the body either. This 55 is actually a car that have Been involved in various
movies. (Muhamed ali the greatest, and the tv serie happy days)

When I was about 10 years old one of my brothers friends had a Vicky like this with bubble skirts on it and glass packs. It was the best sounding car I ever heard in my life!
note to lovefordgalaxie. The 312 engine is not original in the 55 ford. Was an option in 56 so it is not stock. That motor is all cammed up with tri carbs with the stick on the floor Im sorry but puts it into the hot rod category. I own 3 55's one is a crown.
turning that beautiful classic into a hotrod is disgusting. Take that motor and stick it in a piece of shit mustang or something. Such a waste. Sorry!!
The engine is an Y-Block V8. It's original. Sometimes Ford superb quality can cause confusion. It's not a modern engine. And the car is not a Hot Rod, just have some kustom features. Learn a little more before writing.
Ok, the 312 was avaliable only for 1956 and up. What I mean is that the car is not fitted with a modern engine, or even a windsor, FE, Cleveland, etc. It's an Y-Block, tri carbs and all, its not a big change on the car's basic engineering. This coulb be done back in the fifthies. Ok you call it a hot rod, but it's not a radical change like it would be for exemple with a modular engine, mustang II front end, 20" rims, or something like that.
I noticed that your motor spins easily to 5 grand without any struggle, did you do any bottom end work? I have a 292 that i am going to be putting a cam in and i was wondering all that you did to your 312?
gooood looooking vickey, sounds great too! never saw one with 3 duce set-up. had a 55, loved it and bought a 56, loved it. my brother bought a 56 merc and put all the crown trim on it and it looked great. i prowled salvage yards and fixed mine up with power windows and seat. never had a transparent top though except a 54 ford. the 54 fords and mercs had this stupid looking transparent top that looked like it was added on as an after thought, but in 1955 and 1956 they got it right!
Wow. That is one beautiful car!! I am only 16 years old, and I can tell you that I still treasure pieces of automobile history like that! Did you rechrome or can you get brand new parts for the 55? I REALLY want to rebuild my own, although I am not too fond of the glass top. I think I'll just get a solid roof. Where did you get all your parts? I'd really like to know! Thanks!
There's some stainless items which require polishing, but I've had alot of the other pieces rechromeed. There is alot of NOS and REPOP parts available for these old cars.
Carlisle, PA. is a great place to go for parts contacts. It's also amazing what's available from ebay.
So that's a good engine sound? Oo hmm.. to the untrained ear it sounds kinda weak and spuddery.

Sweet-- glad you kept the -Y- block- instead of
going the inbred way (modern power) i would trust it
on a route 66 tour-- any distance --A word of warning
need to watch how you over rev that engine--with out
a load on it-(driving)bottom end is not that strong!
she -is a cruiser not a racer- unless speed is around-
35--70 mph.. I know these things- i rebuid a lot of-
vintage engines--and in the old days these engines-
and-flathead engines hauled a lot of moonshine !!!

What a gem! Sounds like my old 56 Vicky 312 that had
a 3/4 cam with walker continental glass packs. I
wouldn't change a thing on that car.

No, it's been gone about 40 years now. Had it in
high school. I'll never forget that idle though.
You're so lucky to own that Crown.
