  • I was at this match. It was brilliant. Perfect revenge. Steve Foster didn't like it though.

  • Mugging off Luton Town? Good work, chaps!

  • LOLza

  • WHAT??? Glenn Roeder?

  • LOL Gazza was mocking it.....

  • Kennys my coach now! I'm gona sit on the ball in a scrimmage and see what he says lol

  • Disgustingly unsporting to take the piss like that. They deserve to be kicked way up in the air for that.

  • @royallen0 retaliation because they did it to us at Kenilworth Road

  • @royallen0

Why do ppl have a problem with showboating?, It's not like they're cheating....the fact that an opponent can do that to you says more about your ability than their conduct....

  • @royallen0 Grrrr yeah grrrr

  • I was there that day. The crowd were egging Kenny to sit on the ball and I couldn't believe it when he acually did it. Great memories.

  • I always tell my mates about this game. Best game I ever went to. Wharton sitting on the ball, gazza keepy ups.

    They were the days !

  • lmfao wtf xD

  • does everyone who watched this match have a youtube account :p

  • sorry about being ignorant but what actually happen? Why did Newcastle play around like that?

  • we were winning 4-0 and in the reverse fixture earlier in the season luton beat us 4-0 and pretty much did the same thing. we complained down there we complained up here, all square in the end

  • @julienlsk : Because Luton did the same thing at Kenilworth Road when they beat us 4-0 earlier in the season. Luton players seemed to be able to give it and take it in good faith. Only problem was their twat of a manager.

  • yes i remember both games i was there they took the total piss out of us down there...so right fully we done it to them but kenny wharton is a legend for doing that ,,,can't remember anyone else doing that since or even before!!

  • By the way, if anyone who is a youngster is wondering who the commentator is, he is/was Charles Harrison and he was what we had to put up with when you listened to the radio, he was fucking clueless and gave the listener no idea of what was actually going on.

  • I was in the scoreboard with my dad and Grandfather and Uncle, my Granda and uncle were visiting from Belfast and were pleased to see O'Neill getting a hat-trick, me? I was just pleased to see us whop Luton and then take the piss, well done on finding this, mate.

  • I remember this well. It was Easter time. They beat us 4-0 on their platic pitch earlier in the season and they took the piss out of us too on that day.

    This was revenge. Sweet.

  • ALAN SHEARER BALL BOY.....

  • its a classic , love it . i was at the match in the corner . happy days .

  • @LeazesPhil me too, loved it!

  • I forgot about Gazza's "keepie-uppie", lol, Charles Harrison, what a poompous arse, fact is if Luton did'nt like having the piss taken out of Them, They should'nt have done it in the first game, cunts.

  • Now that's what you would call "taking the piss".

  • luton

  • Top quality, remember being at this game with my school pals, I must have been about 15. Showboating at it's finest !

  • Remember it as though it was yesterday, great day!!!

  • I was at a talk in a couple of years back where Kenny was speaken and got him to sign an Autograph for my son with the words ' From the man who sat on the ball' Kenny happily obliged .

    Toonarmy

  • Unbelievable to see this was 20 years ago today, getting old!

  • Remember the old Mirandina tune:

I remember hearing this one in the 'corner' about the pure skill Kenny often didn't exhibit:

    "We've got Kenny Wharton,

    He's not from Argentina,

    He's from Cow Gate,

    He's Fu**** GREAT!!!"

Anyone got the pitch invasions at Grimsby?

  • Hey this was my first ever match, still got the programme! Would love to get hold of a copy of the whole match. Can anyone help ? Thanks.

  • me too, i was pretty close to it, left hand side of the goal at the gallowgate end :)

strange tho, in my memory it was gazza who sat on the ball!! :)
