People see TAS and go like "yeah it's only hacked crap" but this player went out of his way to provide many MANY stances of pure style in the run. He deserves a lot of credit.
@Lakersgay You can't even "cheat" like this on Wii. This is a Tool Assissted Speedrun, so you need an Emulator to slow down the game for you and create savestates.
Not anytime soon. I'm currently working on a Hard Mode with Bass run through MM10 again. Mega Man 9 doesn't have quick switching. This means all weapon switching has to be done through the menu, which results in slower and unattractive game play.
There's a level of showmanship here that's nothing less than fantastic. Showing that Megaman 10's Robot Master weapons can in fact be used in stage-practical application is a feat of its own.
Wow, this is one of the most entertaining and strategically-informative TASes I've ever seen, and the entertainment value is particularly impressive due to the immense lack of glitches. Amazing work, diggidoyo.
I like a good TAS, but when someone like diggidoyo goes out of the way to make a run that's extra entertaining (nonsensical jumping, near death experiences, and big powerup drops EVERYWHERE), that just puts the icing on the cake for me. And I LOVE cake!
@flussence Well, since it's not an NES game, it doesn't run off an NES emulator. And since it's a TAS, it's not on its native system. Logic dictates there must be a Wii emulator.
You expect me to believe that Mega Man--after NINE prequels worth of fighting against Dr. Wily--would suddenly decide, "Oh, Dr. Wily wants to be my friend. Well OF COURSE I'll trust him!"
This game confuses me with the boss battles. I'm used to the Megaman series with bosses that have long invincibility between hits... and yet from the first boss battle on this vid we have Commando Man getting shot multiple times in a row.
you know what i cant wait for, in the future when 360 and Ps3 emulator are made which dont suck so we can see TAS of games like Bayonetta and God of War
Holy crap, I didn't know these kinds of things were capable in this engine.
How did you fire so fast/kill bosses so fast? I thought bosses get a bit of invulnerability when they get damaged? Was that only in the older games or am I recalling incorrectly?
@superkeenenbell Canon is the accepted story and plot elements that are considered "correct" for any given series. For instance, the Mega Man games have a different canon than the Mega Man Megamix manga, as, though the events are similar, they are ultimately different and mutually exclusive.
That... may have been a bad explanation, so if you're still confused you might try checking Wikipedia's page on the subject.

Tool assisted=not a real speed run. I compare this to running a marathon in a golf cart. You know the way to the finish line but you don't have to do the work.
That's because you're being stupid and comparing two things that are inherently incomparable. TAS videos can NOT be compared to standard speedruns, and no player in either camp would even suggest it. Would you look at a soapbox derby and compare it to rally racing? Of course not, that's stupid. So why do it here? A tool assisted speed run is still a speed run, but with slightly different goals.
@GREYIII It's like comparing apples and oranges mate. This is a measure of precision and perfection, not necessarily skill, even though making a successful Tool-Assisted Speedrun is quite a difficult task that takes dedication and patience.
Love how show-offy this TAS is, I enjoy seeing MM runs that actually make use of the weapons, even if it's to off-handedly nuke something behind you with a weapon that makes no difference in the speed. Fun times.
@artman40 Unlikely - the site tends to prefer videos that are done from clean game memory, and hard mode isn't unlocked from the start. That said, that doesn't preclude this run from being a starting point for a hard mode run, now that we have a verifiable "save" that can be used as a starting point.
@artman40 general rule is they won't take a run if it starts from a save file (necessary for hard mode) though they'll take exceptions with good reason (see the current SOTN run)
What happened at 4:02 when you landed on the spikes? I didn't see any kind of glitch, but something must have happened since you didn't die or take damage.
@NonRandomUser Not just you - YouTube seems to have tripped up on transcoding the video (was not like that in what I uploaded). If you watch the main TASVideos site and/or the submission thread, a higher quality downloadable encode / stream will be available in the next day or so.
@Timic83tgwtg Mega Man 9 requires you to go into the pause screen to switch weapons. Thus, the end result either would be disappointingly unentertaining (over half the run spent on the pause screen), or the run's in-game time would be significantly higher than the run at SDA.

ZorakStart 9 months ago
@gamerkim28
According to the runner (diggidoyo), bosses only have 20 frames of invincibility (1/3 of a second).
Older NES games had something like 60 frames (1 whole second).
On addition, the Triple Blade weapon bypasses most bosses' invinicibility frames, allowing even quicker deaths.
