I saw this movie when I was a young kid in Bangkok, Thailand. It brings me back to a time when I was full of innocence and hope. The world was much calmer and people would smile and look you in the eye. I really miss that time. This song is just so beautiful. When I hear it, it makes me yearn for those times. Music has become so ghetto and cold and calculated. American idol and modern music is just very cold.

EJ wasn't happy with the end product after the Friends soundtrack was finished, but back then he might just have had a bad experience doing a soundtrack; not every musician enjoys doing one because they lose a great deal of control of their own music

I agree. This is my all time favorite Elton John song! I don't understand how it never really endured with the public. It's a brilliant song that encapsulates the feeling of young love sort of in the same way as The Beach Boy's "Wouldn't it be nice?" did.

I found out last year Anicee died of cancer..i was very in love with her in my youth after i saw the movie Paul and Michelle -i,m still looking for the movie but can only find Friends (movie on dvd) bought it directly but if someone knows where i can get Paul and michelle i could finally close that episode of my life :(

I was so thrilled to have actually found this. The song has been in my mind for years - I have sung it to lull my kids to sleep as they were growing up; never was quite sure of the words having seen the film only one and no internet in those days to know more.
