@Marjeettes you think so only because youre used to it and you understand it (its your mother language) but if you look at it without all that, this version is sang much better than Finnish, I just finished listening to it ;)
this is my favurite part of the movie becouse he waned to go back and he has a bird as his best freind and i love the one who made this movie it means a lot its just like the life was to a horse in old days :( i wish i could save all horses :)

Stefán Hilmarsson, the Icelandic Disney singer :D I love his voice, and I love the Icelandic language so much. I can't wait to go back to Iceland over New Year's
If anyone wonders why Icelandic sounds like a blend between Swedish Finnish Norwegian and Danish Is because those languages was created from Icelandic XDWell not exactly, but yeah It was the same language from the beginning!:D But it didn't sound anything like the original language. Vikings talked that, ya know the runes and stuffXD But I think that was after the languages split upO_o
Haha I learned that in school, and I might not be a hundred % shorexD
WOW... this dude sounds like Bryan Adams, that's creepy... the Polish version sounds like him too... and I know he sang for the English and French one..
i'm in love with the icelandic version... i'm hungarian but i prefer this because icelandic has a power or idk which is missing from the hungarian song. but somehow it remaines melodic as well.. i wanna learn icelandic!: D
i know some people thinking french is difficult to learn....i think they've never tryed to read an icelandic text ^^ but it really sounds really good....and i think there are a few words i understood....if it's right.... greetings from germany ^^
I always feel a bit sad when I think about what a beautiful language swedes used to speak. Weve lost it but youve kept it. :) Be grateful, cause the old wikinglanguage is fantastic! Wish I could understand more of it (:
The only problem I got with reading/singing in Icelandic is that I have no idea how to pronounce ð, þ and all the most of the letters with apostrophes =)
@shimett ð is “th” as in “this”, þ is “th” as in “thin”; á is like “ou” as in “loud”, í and ý are closed i like ee in “teeth”, ú is rounded u as in “put” and ó is like o in “go”. But there is more “problems” with incelandic pronunciation, even the unaccended vowels are not the same that could be expected and the same goes for consonants.
@Glutexokun I have a shirt from Þingvellir and it uses „Ð ð Þ þ Æ æ" and, since I live in Texas, I get the most confused looks when I wear it. "Where is 'pig-n-vellur'?" It also helps that wherever I'm going, I take about a month to learn basics and pronunciation/reading of the language.
Can anybody tell me what is the pronunciation of letters "ð" and "þ" like? Where can I find a translation into English? I will be very grateful for your answers and the English lyrics. :)
@Fathreena These letters were actually added to Icelandic orthography many hundreds of years ago on the basis of English! That's right, English once used these letters. The crossed 'd' -- ð -- is named 'eth', but the 'th' is pronounced like the 'th' in 'thy' or 'either'; the 'b' + 'p' thing -- þ -- is named 'thorn' and it only represents the sound of 'th' in words like 'thigh' or 'ether'. I know it's hard to notice the differences, but try saying 'thy thigh', which sounds like 'ðy þy' :-)
@purzheen Thank you very much for your help! :) It seems to me that you are Icelandic, aren't you? But if not, where do you know such grammatical rules from? :)
I love this song in English, and it works surprisingly well in Icelandic (I mean, it doesn't sound awkward as songs often do when the same tune is given different words!) I don't speak Icelandic - I really want to (it sounds beautiful!)
I like the lyrics in icelandic better than the english version
