I agree with you crazygut it wont lob off a finger the most it will do is burn you like an abrasive grinder used for steel only with far far less damage because the diamonds are so fine almost like spinning the dull side of a butter knife some of your commentators just don't know jacks**t I'd be happy to send you some geodes from Dugway, Utah. Also I just built a rock saw and will have a video of 4" - 10" geodes getting cut on my saw. cool video showing how easy it is.
Opa is correct, it is actually MORE dangerous to wear gloves with things like Saws or drill presses, because fabric of the glove can get sucked in, and pull your hand in.
@crazygut yes a diamond blade can cut you if you think it cant your nuts it slices through rock man and you think it cant cut you lol when you lop off a hand or finger you will know better
In my experience, and please note that I was a professional tile setter for 6 years, while working with my father who was a licensed contractor for over 20 years before he retired. There is NO WAY that you can lob off a finger on diamond blade saw that we used. Tile work can require precise cuts which requires close contact to the blade. In this instance i was using and 8" blade, but my father and I had bigger machines with bigger blades.
Note that the blades on this machine are solid discs, that have a band of embedded diamonds around the end. I have seen commercial plades (in marble shops) that are several feet across and have "teeth" much like a wood saw blade, in that case, I would agree with you, that a finger could be lobbed off, especially at the rpm a blade that big spins. No one in my dads business injured themselves, and my dads favorite trick was stopping the blade with his hand to scare old ladies
Yeah, it will cut through a rock but not cut your fingers off....?
