@timothyln12 I bought the Wi-Fi model mainly because I live in the city and should I need to access the internet or the book store (which is very rare anyway), Wi-Fi's only a few blocks away. I've honestly never met an instance where I needed the 3g functionality. In my eyes Wi-Fi connectivity is more than convenient enough for my needs (reading!) because at the end of the day, it's nothing more than an e-reader. Just doesn't seem worth 50 bucks to me. Also, I have a smartphone ;p

i think they quote 41 f but last weekend it sucked a new kindle 3 battery dry in temperatures of 46 f was gutted ! totally inoperable until hit a battery source i30 mins in the warmth, ouch!

I dropped my paperback book and the REFRESH rate to pick it up and know it WASN'T broken and TURN PAGING ABILITY still functioned as well as the words not becoming DIS-PIXELATED was about less than 3 seconds

@SlytherinDarkArts They are for true book lovers. They are made so it looks like you are reading books. I have dry eyes and they are light sensitive. This is perfect for people who want to carry it around and be able to read it for long periods of time. I can't read technology with back lit screens without some uncomfortably...in that sense I'm very much glad it doesn't look like a regular computer.
@theicaruss My friend said that you could plug the Kindle to your PC with the USB, and an icon will show (probably in My Computer) that indicates different folders like "Music" or "Documents". You could probably just copy/paste the document or music to the folder then read it on the Kindle :D
My only concern is that most of my documents and ebooks on in Ereader format and I do not know if any of these eink readers will allow me to use this format at all. If not I hope I can convert them pretty easily.
Amazon Kindle is adorable. It' ultimate reading device, which is combination of comfort and usability. You can take wherever you want to, and ultimate battery life will never make you sorry you have forgot plug. I'll having one during June.

Cool! Very nice! But IMO, smaller doesn't necessarily/automatically = better. @theicaruss My friend said that you could plug the Kindle to your PC with the USB, and an icon will show (probably in My Computer) that indicates different folders like "Music" or "Documents". You could probably just copy/paste the document or music to the folder then read it on the Kindle :D

My only concern is that most of my documents and ebooks on in Ereader format and I do not know if any of these eink readers will allow me to use this format at all. If not I hope I can convert them pretty easily.

Amazon Kindle is adorable. It' ultimate reading device, which is combination of comfort and usability. You can take wherever you want to, and ultimate battery life will never make you sorry you have forgot plug. I'll having one during June.

My kindle doesn't have that load pic... (I'm using the same Kindle, Kindle 3) instead, when I set it on sleep/off it puts a picture of some random thing that you may see in a book or whatever you whatever. It took me a while for me to figure out what to do

Cool! Very nice! But IMO, smaller doesn't necessarily/automatically = better. There are enough micro sized display screens on phones, blackberries, etc. I wouldn't want the screen to be too small, on something I might be staring at for potentially hours on end. Also, & this is just my personal opinion, but I really think a "2 page" Kindle/reader (like a laptop turned 90°/opens in the middle, like a book) would be really cool. I prefer books, & that would give it more of a book feel/look.

Did they fix the problem, I read where Amazon had trouble with publishers & literally removed, all ready paid for books, from kindles (THAT, I don't like!, it's akin to a store breaking into your home to retrieve/steal, paid for merchandise). 3. How does it differ from other "e-readers/vice-versa?

And...I really don't understand the need to compare the Kindle to the iPad. The two serve entirely different purposes. Of course a dedicated eReader is going to be better at the ONE thing it does.
Is anyone really spending $500 for an eReader? No, they're spending it for the bunch of other things that the iPad does - like web browsing, playing games, watching movies, etc. The only rightful comparison is between Kindle, Nook, and other dedicated eReaders. Anything else is silly.

I've heard that the "iPad causing eyestrain" has been disproven - that is, it's no different from staring at book pages (or Kindle) for a long period of time. But who knows, maybe that came from Apple's marketing department.

@mauro623623 It should probably work, from what I've heard so far. I'm getting mine tomorrow and I'll check, but it's quite possible. Look for .mobi files anyway, there's tons of free ones out there
