  • -That's a really neat school story. Hooray!

-UC Davis has put trans insurance into the undergrad student plan, which is awesome! Strict Benjamin standards, and they might require hormones before surgery, and two letters. But it's a start!

-It's great that you have such a good relationship with your parents. :)

-So my conclusion from this week is, I think parents first have to understand what genderqueer is before any medical option discussion or else it'd be really confusing. Gotta work on that.

  • holy crap. this couldn't be more validating for me right now.

i just saw brownstein yesterday and to my surprise i totally freaked afterwards and must accept im just not ready. as many very helpful vids out there, it's still a big deal.

its so cool your relationship with your parents and school peers.

and i still have my eyes peeled to run into you around town.

  • yeah its hard to listen to what your body says when it speaks up. do you know what you are going to do? did you like his giant purple and yellow fuzzy chair?

  • the entire experience was surreal. . . that pointy boob sculpture, the chair, frank and esp dr b with his dry humor.

i gotta admit we had a communication snag. i think he forgot it was sept 1, and kept saying the surgery date will be NEXT month on the 24th. i thought he meant oct. when i realized he meant sept 24, it hit me too fast. and i was already committed.

  • the next day a deposit was due and i couldn't do it. getting the ekg (because im older) and securing all the home care felt overwhelming.

but moreso is the surprising feeling of doubt.

i've actually been working with two therapists and had reached a pretty strong confidence. til that moment. now i really do not know.

its such an individual issue. i guess no one can really know but ourselves, and hopefully we can get good advise and support when we need it.

  • yeah i completely hear you. nobody can know except us. and even then, sometimes people aren't 100% sure but after going back and forth and back and forth for years the pros start to outweigh the cons. at least that's a pattern i have noticed. and more than that, sometimes you think you know something for sure and then your body tells you how you really feel. tricky stuff for sure...

  • I was totally the first one to watch this.

  • hehe.
