  • The above footage is reversed. Glen Buxton always played on stage left (the audience's right).

It's interesting to note that the bands in those days that came on stage and (sometimes) just made noise – e.g., Alice Cooper, MC5, Iggy & th Stooges, Pink Floyd – are the very same bands that we cherish and remember today, while the virtuoso musicians who played blues and pleasing tunes perfectly -- the Allman Brothers, Ten Years After, Cream -- are all forgotten.

I always favored the noise bands.

  • WHERE DID THEY GET A PIE IN THE FIRST PLACE lol

  • That is great! Alice is Master!!

If it was Iggy he would have thrown pieces of the pie back into the audience! hehe!

  • That's great! Alice is master!!

If it was Iggy he would have picked up the pieces of the pie and thrown it back into the crowd! hehe!

  • ...nobody knows i killed a fly... and i liked it!!!

  • I like how he didn't get mad and throw a tantrum. But instead incorporated the pie in some of the act. Shows he has good show man ship. And doesn't take his self too seriously.

  • 4:04...poor alice cooper

  • That was very disrespectful throwing that pie. That just shows you how many damn asses we have in this world. If you did not like alice then do not go !!!!DUMB ASS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Whatever jerk threw that pie was probably thinking at the time, "Take THAT!", thinking it'd discourage Alice or at least embarrass him. Not only did he power through it and use the pie as a prop, the Master's still rockin' it today! Nothing can keep this guy down.

  • HAHAHAH got ya....thats what the pie thrower would have said

  • Alice neil glen dennis the real bdb!

  • By the time he starts covering the musicians with blankets I had forgotten about the pie...that's good stage presence.

  • Well Cooper at least hypnotized the pie!!!

  • Queen of the pies. The joker tries to hypnotize on another level and the seriousness is abolished. Awesome! :D

  • Who brings a pie to a concert? I mean really.....a pie.

  • he carried on and even used the broken pie pieces as a prop...

  • 4:03 Why waste a perfectly good pie? I mean seriously.

    4 people got pie'd

  • 4:02 easy skip to the pie if anyone wants it.

  • too bad that cake thrower wasnt near below the 3rd row near the stage alice could've then took the mic stand and smashed the fucker's skull in now that would be the funniest moment in rock n' roll history

  • kick ass!

  • Who brings a pie to a concert? "I might get hungry during the concert" or what?

  • @lv426henke "Got my keys, got my chicken, got my pie.........."

  • I love AC, and in particular, Dennis Dunaway is mostly why I like them, but I feel as if I've just wasted 9 minutes 10 seconds of my day... Watched purely for educational reasons... X)

  • We All Need Rest... Sleep, Easy Sleep... Followed By A Quick Pie To The Face... Rest... ROFL !!! X) sleep...

  • Was there ever a better showman? NOPE!

  • This song sounds so Doors-ie to me :)

    ♥

  • this is classic cooper the original band and every thing that goes with it

sleep sleep but come back HARD

  • love it to death came out in 1971.easy action came out in 1970,an pretties for you came out in 69.

  • this is a great song.my dad use to wake me up at 3 in the morning party an rockin out to this.when i was young

  • very cool with the bed sheets! This has always been one of my fav 'jam' songs due to its percussion and heavy as all get out riff

thanks for posting this, I was unaware of the 'pie incident'

  • Wow, if I were Alice i would've been cussing that guy out! He's cool on keeping his cool!

  • grand funk

    mountain

    traffic

    alice cooper

    this fucking amazin festival!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That is how you gotta live life. Just keep swimming........

  • Anybody can get up on stage a play a song. Alice puts on a show.

  • My fave Alice Cooper song. I used to listen to this when I was 8 years old. I would go into my older brother's room at night while he was out getting stoned somewhere, turn off all the lights and crank up this tune. It scared the shit out of me, but I loved it!

  • Hello LuneyTune72. Spiderbaby99 says hello, and nice work.

  • Love it to Death wasn't out in 1970, was it just in prerecording?

  • @ListWritingMachine The band was playing Eighteen, Black Juju, and a couple of other songs before Love It To Death came out. Love It To Death came out in early 1971.

  • alice took that pie like a man he made it look like it should of happened

  • hard to believe he's a republican

  • apres avoir vu cette video, les incultes au moyen age ils seront bien!!!!!!!

  • Alice probably made a pie out of the thrower

  • Great song, I love it to death!!

  • Are you saying you didn't enjoy their performance?

  • Well I didn't understand what you were saying because of your bad grammar.

  • @LuneyTune72

    LOL

  • That wasn't a pie or cake, it was a loaf of bread that someone mashed together in the shape of a ball, the same person who brought peanut butter-which ended up on Iggy Pop. This is from the Cincinatti Pop Festival in 1970-Grand Funk & Mountain also played. Folks have come forward to say what that was after some mistook it for a huge cheeseball. Besides, pies and cakes don't come globe shaped. Get a clue !

  • Dude fucking relax!! It was a pie, I've heard it from the man himself! Goddamn, do you know who you're questioning? No. Alice's biggest fan.

  • Someone should have dropped that guy that tossed that pie

  • he kept on going, that took a lot to do that. He just went with it and I bet that pissed off the cake thrower worse than Alice losing his cool..

  • Wasn't this the very same concert with the Iggy Pop peanut butter incident?

  • bad weather coming , pie flying so low...

  • One inch of love is one inch of sha....oh wait

  • Who the hell brings a cake to an Alice Cooper show, Alice Cooper vs. Betty Crocker, film at 11

  • aw poor alice lol :(

  • Sounds a lot like set the controls for the heart of the sun

  • Wasn't it a cake?

  • Yup it was an upside down pineapple cake. I called it "pie incident" cus that's what most people remember it being. Also it sounds funnier.

  • Yeah, you're right, "cake incident" doesn't really roll off the tongue.

  • Neal is awesome. Is he saying what to the camera at the beginning?

  • I have no idea, probably just making faces at the camera.

  • @TheNightmare75 for a while it looks like Neal is saying "pussy" lmfao

  • LOL! (Pie hits) Alice's response? REST!!!!!

  • Eskimo pie??? wat that about... im a fan of his but i never heard of that.

  • Listen to "Cold Ethyl." It's in the lyrics.

  • Did anyone else catch someone putting a sticker on that guy's back at 7:25? lol

  • True professional, he just shook it off and kept going. These days some whiney prick would walk off the stage or jump out into the audeance looking for a fight.

  • Not only that, he never breaks character. He had an awesome shtick going there and someone tried to ruin it. He actually incorporates it into the act. This is a professional entertainer.

  • what is the song?

  • Title says it, Black Juju

  • What kind of pie was that? Hoodu Juju Mincemeat?

  • According to Alice it was pineapple but in my opinion it was an "Eskimo pie!" if anyone is a true Alice fan you'll get that hahaha.

  • Yeah, Cold Ethyl would laugh out loud ^^

  • this is srsly weird shit. i didnt even know what i was watching for the first 4 mins. anyway he hardly reacted to the pie; idk if he just didnt wanna ruin the show, or he was half-stoned at the time. :P

wow he's SO thin! i hardly recognized him

  • No Alice wasn't a pothead haha. On the other hand Glen and Mike (the guitarists) were big druggies...Mike supposedly still does them, which is really sad. But the reason Alice didn't react is because during that pause of him thinking he thought (he's said this in an interview) "What just happened? I'll have to work this into the show somehow" So he decided to make it seem like that was supposed to happen.

  • oh ok. thanks for the trivia!

  • Go 2 About 4:01 And You Get To The Pie Bit

  • i love this song and the album neal cracks me up

  • LOL i was just talking to him on my computer and he said that he was like NOT cool man NOT cool HAHA!!!!!

  • If you mean you were talking to Alice then that's an absolute lie:

    1) Alice doesn't touch computers (he has others that work for him use them, he's said so on his radio show)

    2) He's too busy to talk to people online (golfing, touring, and his radio show, Nights With Alice Cooper, take up almost everyday of his life)

  • I think that it's true

  • Well you're wrong. I doubt that guy was even talking about Alice but here's the another reason why...Alice would never say "Not cool man":

    1) Cus he doesn't talk like that

    2) Cus he has a sense of humor

  • I'm sorry. I didn't understand well that he did say because i don't speak english. I only thought that he spoke. Now, i don't think it. Thanks for the explication. Greetings from Madrid.

  • and cus in an interview ppl who know alice said he would have cracked up laughing from that if he wasnt concerntrating on his show, Cooper has the best humour and he is a loyal family man thats what makes him the ultimate rock god

  • Yeah, Ive Herd The Same Thing. Probably Trying To Look Cool....

  • Oh my gosh, that was so funny how the pie hit him and he jumped back and kept going eventhough he felt like bursting out laughing!! =D

  • he pie made some noise there!

  • I love how he just kept going.

  • lol alice cooper is so cool

  • WAKE UP! WAKE UP!

  • bodies need there rest.

  • This is so hilarious!!!!! :D lol rotflmao

  • i dont know if u realized but at some point he sarted picking up the pie and smering it on his face again

  • He also licks it, watch the VH1 things about it. Alice said that he was afraid after he took a bite because he didn't know if it was drugged, luckily it was not.

  • This is a great video, thanks for this and all your other fabulous AC vids. - I loved Alice back then and love him today. Wow, I'd have loved to spread that pie all over him and lick it off!! Best wishes XX

  • really ha thats funny

  • Must admit, it took so long to get going I'd have shoved something mushy in his face as well.

    What a showman though!!!

  • Took so long to get going? Anticipation adds to excitement, don't you think?! Yes, he was a real showman then and still is today. Fabulous to see this, brilliant piece of nostalgia. Bet Mr or Ms Pie Chucker had no idea Alice would still be amazing 38 years later! Sad the original band split so long ago .. love to all AC fans XX

  • wheres the pie scene? i cant see it?

  • At 4:04, you have to watch the whole thing.

  • thanks!

  • GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!!!

  • Wow thanks for upping this!!! its always great to see alice play live back in the days... also the way he took that pie and didnt even show any sign of anger or anything, just shows how great of a front man he is(you think axel would learn a thing or two from alice)

  • hey hey be nice! lol

  • I was a junior in high school when this festival took place at Crosley Field (previous home of the Cincinnati Reds). The lineup was freakin' amazing and even through the "pie in the face", Alice's show was great. Of course, he followed Iggy and the Stooges, so he had no choice but to bring the "A" game!
