  • whats a DM5??

  • @kesillo627 The dm5 is the device that makes the drum sounds. It plays the sound when the pad is hit. It is programmable in that individual pads can trigger different sounds, i.e snare, tom etc, and you can even tune each sound. Its made by alesis. You can see it on the alesis website.

  • @BacardeSan thanks!!

  • This scares me. if i were you i would shoot myself in the head.

  • doesnt even sound like the drums in the song u missed half the crashes

  • is your cat deaf?..lol...

  • Get yourself a Roland HD-1 (Small footprint for your space situation) and work on getting tighter with the playing...then you may have something here!

  • do you think that ion sounds good? i was interested in buy them for study drums and to use it as a midi controller (for ez drummer)

what do you think about ion drum?

  • @ziotore well technically the ION drums are the drum pads, they dont make the sounds, the Alesis DM5 is what I use to make the sounds. I think it sounds fine.

  • @BacardeSan

can you plug it into the computer using the usb cable???

  • How do you remove the drums from a song and replace them with your own playing?

  • @Vank023

On this particular cover I used the soundtrack from RockBand, with out the drums. I set rock band to no fail mode and recorded that as a mp3. I then play that and mix it with my drumming on the ION/DM5 combo.

    Thanks for viewing.

  • Just wondering if you had any experience in playing drums prior to this.

  • @abraxen32

    Only High school band mostly.....

  • thats not a drum set man get a real one lol its a good cover

  • Very nice. Wish you lived nearby. Buddy and I have been playing a lot of Ratt lately. I have a pearl acoustic kit but I want to play geetar - not drums, lol. I've been recording the kit a lot and also have an ION kit with midi out and just ordered my first midi-usb cable. Never used midi before tho. I want to mic record and trigger acoustic kit same time. Already built homemade triggers. Wish me luck. Good job on cover of great song from great era in metal,

    Jim.

  • OK- Your wife totally thinks this is so much better of a way for you to go thru mid life crisis than a convertible car, and she knows right where you are, and she thinks your HOT !

  • Let me guess...Roland Kick Trigger? The cover wasn't THAT bad. I actually like it ^_^. Tell me...what is the cheapest module I can use for an ION drumkit?

  • Well actually it is pretty bad...lol.

You can get a kick pad/trigger and cymbal and DM502 or something like that for sigler music and others. I think tha tis what bigmasterjay below got. It was like 200 for the whole upgrade kit.

  • You sir have inspired me to pick up one of these kits. Grats on getting that cymbal for 30 dollars. I have seen several videos of people complaining about the Drum Rocker cymbals.

  • lmao......just horrible.....

  • *sigh* yes, I know.......

  • Dont take peoples crap BacardeSan. You do what you like, to upload videos to others to watch. Like I wanted to see how the Ions were as real drums and I would just like to say thank you for uploading this :D.

YouTube is a harsh world, about 75% of the comments are total bull.

  • Oh I will, but its true. This was one of my first vids with the drums and frankly I could do much better now. But that being said....no one has to be harsh in their critiques..lol, Thanks for commenting!

  • hi, are the drum heads changeable,im planning to change it with fiber ones.

  • I dont think so....I just got a alesis dual zone snare that I can change the head to a mesh head. But id don't think the standard ion drum heads are replaceable with standard ones. Could be wrong...but I haven't as yet found any....

  • hey man was it worth the money please respond

  • I think so. If you are talking about the Ion drums or the DM5 hard to beat the price. At least for cheap electronic drums that work for drumming and for rb. They are MUCH better than the standard RB drums...

  • The drums can be heard better in HQ. You might check out one of the more recent clips like the wizard of winter or the 30 sec clip of christmas canon rock. The drums DM5 is mixed alittle better there.

    THanks for dropping by.

  • did you get that hi-hat from sigler music?

  • No. The hi hat is a used dm5 pro kit cymbal, that I bought from a guy on ebay that had 3 of them. He also included the mounting arm and hardware with it. Got if for about 30 dollars not including the shipping.

  • how is that hi-hat cymbal? is it worth getting?

  • The Hi Hat is worth it. Any of them could be used as the high hat. I just like the small one because it has alittle more bounce. I am planning on getting the Alesis surge cymbals as they "feel" more like real cymbals. I would just go on ebay and find one, just about any model will work with the DM5. This one also works fine with the xbox controller that comes with the ION.
