Full-breasted actress in the Indian/squaw costume playing the Playmate dancer is a young, ultra-sexy and magnificently well-endowed, bosomy, busty Colleen Camp circa 1976 when this scene was shot. An underrated actress who never became a household name but has been in countless movies and tv shows like Wayne's World, The Swinging Cheerleaders, Police Academy 2, and played the voluptuous, busty, devious, magnificently large-breasted deep cleavage French maid Yvette in Clue.
In the MIECONG DELTA during the VN war Jeez what if one of those soldiers grabbed a girls butts or boob?? THEN WHAT? WHERE`S THE OVER SIGHT???? ahahahahahahah
This is not correct! The song is performed by Flash Cadillac And The Continental Kids!!!! They recorded it it in a studio then lip synched it for the film!!! Francis Ford used them in this movie since he worked with them in American Graffitti!!!
Memorial Day was created by the evil ILLUMINATI. It's their way of mocking all the military people that murdered and died for the ILLUMINATI causes! Memorial Day is disgustingly evil. The U.S. soldiers are not "defending" our freedoms here in America. The mind controlled U.S. soldiers are defending the evil interests of their true masters that rule from Rome (the synagogue of Satan)! I have evidence of this sad fact.

The song was originally by Dale Hawkins, but the group performing Suzy Q here is Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids - the same band that was the high school dance band in American Graffiti. They got very little screen time - and mostly just their backs - in Apocalypse as opposed to Graffiti. Their Zoetrope Films connection got them the gig. Interesting story about it on their website.
Did anything like this even ever happen? Just seem Oliver Stone hates the military and always paints them as animals. I mean look at full metal jacket.
@pilottim79 Oliver Stone? He wrote neither Apocalypse Now nor FMJ.
Also, what's wrong with portraying GIs like that? It's true, people on the war lose themselves, and unleash their primal instincts(that sounded corny, but i don't know how else to say it).
@pilottim79 Son, I'll tell you what. You go for a full year without anything resembling pussy within smelling distance, nothing but letters from home, 12-16 hour work days in the toilet and add high stress to the mix and you tell me that the first time you see WOMAN you ain't gonna be thinking HOW you can relieve your overloadeded balls into her? I mean, after that year, if you saw a lady who fell off the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, she'd be Miss Goddess to your dick!
I remember the American Forces Radio pleyed We are American band -Grand Funk at 12 :00Am one night right after American Anthem. That was powerful. It was in Viet Nam.
I'd been Viet Nam a year after TET I can tolally understand what the GI felt in those days. The power is how they organized the show. Even today the Commit can't understand the simple minded GI had brought so much joy to this world. 大陸人沒有Boomer , 不能体会40年前美国人是如此劳军的
the song in the video is actually performed by Flash Cadillac. it was originally written and performed by Dale Hawkins, but the version in Apocalypse Now is by FC, as noted in the credits (at least in the Redux version)
@julienbencze Francis F Coppola is a master of cinema. The one thing about this movie that I like is that every scene is memorable: the chopper attack on the village, the meeting with Col. Kurtz, the attack of the tiger in the jungle. Never a dull moment. I can't believe there's a director's cut. It's two and a half hours long!

Cynthia Wood where are they now (per wikipedia): While her role in the original 1979 release of the film was very brief, it was greatly expanded for the "Redux" re-release in 2001. She has also kept up her love of music and singing, and served as Casting Agent for the director Michael Lesner. Eventually she pursued a Ph.D. in psychology with the goal of helping emotionally disturbed children.
Nope. Vietnam was the fight against communism and the spread of consumerism and the American way (of war). Now it is the fight against Islamist faction and the spread of Muslim Sharia states. You could make a film like Apocalypse now about Iraq but not Afgahnistan.
What I meant Mr. Jools is the dollar is on the brink of crashing. So I am guessing the you are a war monger but only for the wars you find "just". And as only a Nancy Pelosi fan could have this type of ideological non-logic, I have therefore concluded that you are a left wing Democrat. Which... is ok for some I guess.
@cescymat Cynthia Wood never ever looked better than she did in this scene. She's considerably thinner here than she was in either of her Playmate shoots. I sure understand why Clean went bonkers. That made me the cutest bum I'm ever seen, and she sure knew how to move it.
"Charlie didn't get much USO..he was dug in to deep or moving to fast. His idea of R n' R was cold rice and a little rat meat. He had only two ways home..death..or victory"

Hawkins, Lewis, and Broadwater wrote the song. The version used in the movie was performed by Flash Cadillac, whose members can be seen in some shots (they're on each side of the helicopter's landing spot, behind the circle on the stage). They also performed at the dance in "American Graffiti," which Coppola produced. Guitarist Randy Hansen (not a group member) came up with some great atmospheric stuff at the end of the clip. The lyric captions are distracting. Otherwise, an incredible clip.

I like three chords intro, this cover follows rather CCR sound/arrangement than Dale Hawkins 'rockabilly' original.
