I am so happy to see this grand Lady looking and sounding so beautiful..I can't say in all the years I rode her she EVER looked so wonderful and honestly the band organ was PATHETIC .. the paint was dull and dirty ..nice to see they retained the colors I remember on the facade and rounding boards ect..on another site someone complained about the blonde floors..I like them..far better then the dull shabby
You can't please everyone. The restoration is beautiful. Carousel Works did an excellent job and the band organ sounds wonderful. The fact that people are complaining at all makes me sick. My only hope is that CF/WOF will take measures to maintain both carousel and band organ. They are both treasures and should be treated as such.
The only thing I can complain about is that they removed the slots and it used to be when the carousel was at full speed, the horses would slide out. No longer can it do that....
@anglerfly Assuming you are talking about the previous post, I believe it was just the bottoms. The attachment of the poles to the floor/platform actually had "slots" that the poles could slide back and forth in. From my understanding, the park could either a)keep the sliding feature an add seatbelts or b)go to standard mounting and have no seatbelts. Not an easy decision, but I can understand why they went the direction they went.
Man this is a great-sounding organ! The best Stinson organs can really sound good when they are built well, voiced well, and maintained! Having heard about a dozen Stinson organs by now, I personally think this is just about the best-sounding Stinson I've heard so far! I think he is a whiz at voicing trombone pipes!
Is this a Stinson band organ, or the organ that actually was with the carousel all the years at it's origonal location in OH? I believe the organ is European, I believe a Ruth or Bruder. It's a sign that maybe Cedar Fair will again take better care of it's antique carousels and band organs.
@koasterkav according to a post made by Bruce Pier today (August 13th 2011) on Facebook, "The organ was a Gebruder Bruder chassis fitted with a Illions carved facade. The organ was destroyed in a shop fire in the 1950's I believe. In the 1990's then owners Funtime bought a Stinson model 87 chassis to put behind the facade."

@Wurlitzer157 What do you mean they would slide out?
anglerfly 3 weeks ago
@anglerfly
The horses would literally slide out!
As the carousel increased in momentum, the horses slid out in their 'slots'
Wurlitzer157 3 weeks ago
@Wurlitzer157 just the top, or the bottom too?
