  • exelente, era lo que estaba buscando.

  • one way I've learned to defend really well is to use my back and legs, and when I'm a good distance out of the box, fight really hard for the ball by using my shoulder, and again, my legs to try and kick the ball out and away, but making sure they won't turn on me.

  • LOOL American playing football and calling it soccer, ha ha.

  • dont forget to keep ur distance and keep ur legs close together and a low stance.

go for the tackle when they least suspect it or when they take theyr eyes off u

  • It's really important to close in quickly and not let them turn on you...

  • always run up hard on the player and try to make the offensive player fumble the ball(don't give them time to think or react). never commit and be able to turn quickly and step into the offensive players lane and get the ball when they try to turn. fake lunges or stabs at the ball can also make the offensive player fumble or commit to a side.

  • the "offensive players lane" what sport are you talking about

a fake lunge to wrong foot yourself great idea.

fumble? pretend to tackle the player to try and make him drop the ball your not a very good defender are you.

you stand your ground watch the ball and wait til theres an opportunity and poke the ball out or if the player isn't of the skillful nature and your not last man go in hard ball and player

  • Dude you're an asshole haha

And you don't stand your ground dumbass... there's no "standing" at all in defense

Always on your toes, retard, always on your toes

  • stand your ground means you don't dive in

not staying rigid and upright waiting to be walked past

bit of i retard yourself id say

  • Everything you just tried to explain goes without saying you stupid asshole

Go learn how to play soccer you stupid fuck face

  • maybe you don't have agility thats why you can't do it. did'nt i say don't commit. you stay on your toes which you said, but you fake a short step, your arms sell the fake.

  • Im also a defender but when I move up to defend I have this habit of stabing when he makes a mistake and i end up missing. gay.

  • yea just watch the ball and be patient, and dont stab!! dont dive in. it pisses me off when people do that. just watch the ball and wait till they give it up.

  • Word!

  • @gunsroses idiot

  • true

  • In most cases it's recommended to patiently wait for the opponent to either pass or choose a side.

But...if ur agile enough to erroneously dive in and get back up in enough time to apply pressure again then ...going in for the steal could actually be a good idea.

However, I agree with u, I also tend to favor using team tactics that put more emphasis in containing than in pressuring, mainly because of how easier they are to apply and practice, as far as fatigue goes.

  • @gunsnrosesguy19

true dat. it's human nature to dive in though, you do it wihtout even thinking... it takes training and practice haha

Defense isn't easy. I love it when you switch and cover with another defender... that powerful feeling of teamwork..

  • the most important thing to do is apply pressure and patience, and keep ur eye on the ball, not the striker's foot

  • im also defender, in Barcelona talent team...

  • i'm a defender, great dribbling you say? how well can you dribble with a damaged ankle? your fast you say? how fast can you run with a limp? accuracy? whats accurate when you got a defender right in front of you? and Power? i dont care how big you are or how strong i'll take you down with a nice chop to the back of your knees.

  • loool some rabid guy but thats true - say that to your opponents before a game and thats will psych them out

  • Doubt it.

  • why don't you go and play for real madrid then !!

  • i am also a deffender. dont ever watch the upper body thats what a forward wants you to do. insted when hes doing all his little step overs and shit just be patient and wait for him to mess up like leaving the ball to far in front him then rush in.

  • yea im also a defender, and instead of watching the players upper body and leaning a certian way, cuase ull get beat almost everytime. u just gotta watch the ball and the second u see him even touch the ball you gotta rush in and have total confidence. you cant just rush in half ass or it probably wont work.

  • or u can drive him in to the side and close in

  • i always catch them on the dribble. i see them coming into a one on one and wait till they get close then i tell myself, next dribble rush in. lots of forwards misjudge how much time they have before they get to the defender.

  • I think that's also good advice for a keeper in a 1 v. 1 situation.

  • i play as a defender.. n ya th main thing is to be patient but u have to be clever when to takle th ball or else ur left behind..!! =P

  • Yeah, I see sooo many players rush in and the attacker dribbles right by (left behind). I teach sprint to 5 yrds then close down to 2 yrds. Stay in their face and put pressure to delay until you get cover. Make a front toe poke to tackle (if you miss you can try again or even fake it to make them commit) when the attackers foot is off the ball (timing just as you pointed out).

  • bullshit about that american comment man. everyone knows this, atleast if you play soccer that is.

  • if u play Defence and don't know this rule than ur worse in soccer than my 6 yr old sister

  • good advice but u r tought that when u r 5 need to tell brazil that.

  • nice advice .. but I play as a defender and I already knew it .. americans need to know it
