Practically any Suzuki car (not the korean rebadges) will get you the same reliability and easy to work on, that people who have owned Geo Metro's have become accustomed to. The Geo Metro was just a rebadged Suzuki Swift, although the Swift came with a 4 cylinder engine but still got mpg's of 40+. Although Suzuki no longer builds or imports 3 cylinder cars like the Metro for the U.S. market they do still sell them in other countries.
@darcam123 They were considering the 1.0l 3 cylinder for the new volt for the generator. But went with a stripped version of the 1.4 that shall be in the Cruze!
@KronicKillaz For sure you will fit in it, the seats go back pretty far, I'm about 6 feet and I fit comfortably. I would say the cap is 6'4 ...maybe a bit more. Super reliable, super cheap on gas. Just watch for rust
@1pinchipendejo Seriously! I love my Chevy Metro! Had it for 10 years and plan to keep it going for another 10!!!! It's an awsomely, FUN, little car to drive! :-)
@orangejulius072 I got 3 of them in the past and to be honest those engines are adorables. Very fuel efficient, reliables, easy and cheap to fix. I miss them...ahhhh 3cyl sound...miss it...:(
I just bought a 1992 Geo Metro 2dr because my beretta blew up i can't wait to fix the Geo up. All it needs is a cv axle and a starter parts are cheap for these cars.
Ummm... I went to fix it and when i put a jack underneath the car the frame broke in two lol that is why the cv axle was broke lol now im junking it. Time to get a Crown Victoria haha.
My 1.0 Metro does 0-60 in 12 seconds, maybe 11when i fix my tach. Gotta love the Geo Metro. I am working on having a custom turbo set-up done for mine, i'm shooting for high 14s. Does anyone take their Metro to the dragstrip? I am wondering what a good running one will run stock, compared to mine when it was stock.
Well mine is stock and and runs pretty good, but I didn't REALLY give 'er if you know what I mean. Lots of room left to play, But the frame has completely let go now, and my new Geo is a 1.3, not really fair comparison. I think the 1.0L could probably do it in 15sec if you really pushed. I don't know about the drag strip...
Thanks, Which version doyou have? (if metro how many cylinders and how much HP? and better yet what mpg are you getting?) I have to post another vid soon I can get much better, all stock just a well maintained 1994 geo metro 3 cyl. standard.
Yes this car is seriously underpowered, but i don't drive it for the HP, I don't need to make up for anything :D. But now that gas is 1.25 a Litre here getting 60mpg isn't bad...So go ahead and pass me in the end my wallet is bigger
bigger then it would be if I where to drive a gas guzzler Dumb Ass. You have no clue about the upcomming depression and world energy needs do you? when gas is 25$ a gallon I want to see your 0-60 test- ON A BICYCLE!
not everyone is poor like you. family has great business and i dont wanna brag but yeah were rich. i wouldnt ride a bike my parents could afford 100 dollars per gallon if they needed.
will do, little busy with work and my cam was burnt along with the rest of my house :S, but will have one in a week, I hac my 150lbs brother in the car with in this one so I am sure I can do much better.
Very well and personally, your sensor is your mpg killer, also make sure your air filter is nice and clean and you have the tires at 37-40psi. I change my oil with the cheapest synthetic I can find, I use oil treatment and I use the fuel injection cleaner once a season.
The wires is what put me in the 35-40 MPG range over the 29 MPG I was getting when I first got the car. My Air filter is also new and I'm not running any tubing at all.
I hope changing the O2 Sensor will get me into the 50's =)
I also try try good driving habits, so when I'm driving in fuel saving mode I can hit 65-70+mpg on a tank but mixing it up with doing stupid things like in my video and super driving I achieve 55-60mpg. Even when my brakes where sticking last spring I was getting 45-50mpg.
LOL, maybe, It's actually going back on the road this friday, but I don't think I will drive it mean right away. I think you commented once saying you got 35-40mpg no matter how you drive it? I normally get solidly inbetween 50-60 mpg, and higher with more HWY driving. go to metrompg(dot)com to see how other metro drivers are able to get the higher mpgs
I know that you don't have an RPM gauge but these engines redline at 6500 RPM, so you're actually shifting quite early. You can stay in 1st until 35-km/h and shift from 2nd to 3rd at 75-km/h.
Thats probably true, but I normally drive this for effeciency, 55-60mpg is regular for me. To get that mileage I regularly shift early, accelerate real slow, and keep a slow top speed(90km is my usually my max). So this test really was hard for me to do, Thanks for the advice, I will try it again spring time.
Its a 55hp 3cyl, 1994 2 door hatch back...I didn't even fully push it in this video, maybe i could shave another 2 or 3 seconds. Doesn't matter in the long run since I drive it for MPG

I see it's the 55 hp version.
You can shift to 2nd gear at 40 kmh, and to 3rd around 90.
Sheppards1984 3 years ago
err 2nd at 40km?? When I am just normaly driving I'm in 3/4th by then. What kind of RPM would I be hitting?
darcam123 3 years ago
hmm. I don't have an rpm gauge (yet:)), I only know the end of the gears...
Anyway in 3rd gear at 40 km/h I'd say around 1800-2000, but that's a guess, I could be far off.
