  • thank you very much!

  • 6 people don't know what is the Bass

  • Some commentors seemed doomed to the world of the mundane - nothing special about this use of harmonics??? Jaw dropping.

  • @fashiznit123 Your point? No one here can convince you of anything. I"m not going to be rude to your or anything, but when you say stuff like what you just said you stir up shit. THAT is impolite. Post your dislike, tell us why you don't like it and then be on your way. Youtube doesn't haven't to be a battleground, it can be a discussion board.

  • @fashiznit123 You just proved how little talent you have - This is without ANY doubt the most original line ever created on the bass. If you can't see what's special, you either don't know anything about music OR you're a hater of Jaco.

It's a fact not an opinion.

@m6r10 And how can the uploader of this video (you) agree with him? I'd rather have you delete this video, so Jaco's music is uploaded with respect.

I'm icecold, you can block me or whatever you want, but you are both IGNORANT!

  • Amaizing... thanks for adding this video...

  • Nice! Thank you! (I've a version of bass guitar sheet too :-).

  • sometimes... i just listen to this when things get really bad in my life... then i realize, theres so much more than going to work, school, or anything like that. lifes too short to watch it fly by, make something of it, just as jaco did with his beautiful music.

  • That last chord is impossible to play without overdub

  • @ZuckerBruecke have you considered basses with more strings?

i don't think jaco ever used a five string, but still.

  • @jimjamkillsnerds

    He didn't used :D

  • thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • do u have the actualy site for the sheet music?

  • have never figured out how to play the last harmonic at all.

  • @schwarzblatt you barre the bottom 3 strings at the 9th and use your pinky to make a false harmonic at the 13th. But it never sounds as good as when Jaco did it. I think he overdubbed that on the record.

  • I just discovered this song last year. I probably heard in it in my youth.......my Father was a Weater Report album listener before he split when I was five. Its really something.......it just inspires you with its intimacy and use of harmonics. I play guitar.....maybe I shuold get a bass. There is a live version of this in a white shirt...check it out.

  • some chord symbols would be cool too

  • ...This might sound cool on piano, especially since it's written in treble and bass cleff)

  • Love the flexible meter, almost reminds me of Stravinsky or Bartok's early 20th century classical music ( the lyrical stuff, probably not the rite of spring!)

  • Jaco...a true genius

  • well done... wonderful~!

  • speechless.

  • I feel so noob for not being able to understand this notation =(

  • Astonishing....this is what i meant by perfection. Jaco is a GOD. Thanks for sharing

  • The song seems even more complex when you look at the sheet music. I spent much time trying to determine the meter. Little did I know it changed so often

  • Yeah, I feel like even in the notation the changing meters fails to truly embody the way it's played. It's meant to be rubato, it might even be better and sound more convincing to disregard the meters and just feel it.

  • Que buen video che!

  • im not trying to do anything... i do it for fun.

And your version for the song is ...

    well done

    thanks for comment

  • @KRPjazz LOL, you are the last one to talk. Maybe the acoustics in the room were better live?

  • @hhohn yeah.. maybe. greetings

  • Hola no lo habia pensado en 2 voces! es como bach, pensaba en varias voces, como en las suites para cello, exelente definitivamente hay que pensar en la voz grave no solo en los armónicos, pues agregue un video a ver que te parece, saludos!

  • some of this transcription is actually a little off from the recording.

  • that last harmonic is impossible. it never sounds the way it does when jaco does it.

  • i'm guessing you need a certain type of fretless bass, the fender j is the one Jaco used

  • the back pick up is best for getting those rich harmonic tones - personally i prefer it have to tone on full - but for that jaco-esque sound - turn the tone off

roundwound or pressurewound strings work best, in opinion - they have a lot more sustain than flatwounds :)

  • @jacobi117 Yeah, he has amazing tone.

Every time I play this, I always get disappointed in the lack of sound I get out of it.

  • @jacobi117 because he overdubbed himself several times;you can hear him do it on the instructional vid with Jerry Jemmott and it doesn't sound as magic as in the original recording.

  • Excelente tema del más grande bajista en la historia.

  • El Gran JACO.

  • Muchas gracias...You help me with this. Thank you!!

  • Learn.

  • dude, there's tab all over the internet. I like it the way it is.

  • couldn't you jsut learn how to read music

  • how about you start taking music more seriously and learn to read sheet music....instead of looking at tabs....they don't actually benefit you...

  • sensacional!!!

    muy buen laburo loco!!!

    suerte!!!

  • I really enjoyed that hehe

  • that was cool. Thanks for sharing

  • copié exactamente las partituras del original.. El simbolo es un pequeño circulo encima de las notas, tambien se suelen simbolizar armonicos haciendo el punto de la nota con forma d rombo

  • que simbolo le pusiste arriba para señalizar los armónicos?

  • woow this is a really great video and an even greater song. i'm practising it, but i don't have a good tablature. can you also put on the whole tablature on at once, so i can print it? that would be great!

  • Jaco had a understanding of the music out of this world. Each note seems get out from his soul.

  • @efergarmx Well said mate.

  • How did you make this? Was there a special program you used?

  • i used the flash 6.0 of adobe

  • jaco is from a small town outside of philly ,know as norristown pa man theres something in the water up herethere are many great bassist from around here lots of true players, you just wont beleive it !!!!!1

  • thank you okicu! as you say it was a great job but so hard really!

this is my humble tribute to this genius of the bass
