I like this and all, and it's a deep song, but there is no "death" in this "melodic death metal". It's not even heavy. It makes much more sense to me if you remove the "death" tag so you're left with melodic metal. Again, I'm not bashing the band, I just don't know why nobody else sees this.

Agreed. I really like his vocals; they are very emotional and fitting for the music. It still puzzles me that people call this death metal, just because the vocals are somewhat harsh. There isn't even a single death metal riff in here. They kind of created their own genre, as the sound here is much different from even other pioneering Gothenburg artists. It's quite beautiful really, and the change is welcomed by me.

Oh no, I understand it completely. But death metal is death metal, and if you compare this to a Stockholm band from the same time, or even At the Gates or In Flames… it's not really on the same level. This is beautiful music with raspy vocals packed with Iron Maiden esque riffs… not death metal riffs. Scandinavian death metal has more in common with American death metal than this has in common with any of it.

Plus with all the folklore that Mikael reads and the way Niklas and Mikael write lyrics it just seems to make more sense about forgetfulness, atleast to me
