  • Awesome Video! Good Job!

  • Thanx so much for the creative video; luv the old pics. LUV LUV LUV this band

  • good.

  • Great job. Best fan-produced music video I've seen.

  • Brilliant vid. Re-interpreted the song for me. Going retro back to the birth of the modern era, back to the turn of the 20th century, putting us in the future, able to look back on how the story played out - awesome. I used to hear this song and think of our time as the present with the man from the future sort of sci-fi Klatu. Here, the true present, our now, is caste as the future and our past is the video's present -- we are the creature from the future visiting a present that is now past.

  • Wow thanks, you summed that up better than anyone has.

  • Video really deserves an essay. Really terrific. My fav bits: "we're not going to make it" played once as man reflects sun in glasses, once as Soviet field is reaped (failure of collectivist farming in 20s). There's a quick shot of what looks like a Holocaust boxcar. Haunting. Also love scene at 2:56 where tank & soldiers advance like automatons to a moving drum beat.Good use of WWI footage, Austro-Hungaria, etc. Poignant contrast of nuclear bomb/nuclear family. Could go on/on. Just brilliant.

  • Haha, I hate to admit it but I really more of those things by accident than you would think, but your interpretation is very compelling.

  • lol kermit the frog xD yeah a bit

    Cool song 5/5

  • It seems that the USSR is the main theme in this video.

  • Communism, Fascism and general Corporatism, and the consequences of the arms-race between those who subscribe to these seemingly dinstinct ideologies.

  • That was my first impression when I heard this early in a 2003 morning.

  • What the hell was that guys face that came up if you watched closely?

  • Yeah

  • That freaked the hell out of me.

  • What? You mean the happy looking kid near the end? Or was it more subtle?

  • It's distracting and somewhat disruptive (perhaps this is supposed to represent the mutant offspring of that tumultious century; ie, us?)

  • This song reminds me of Syd Barrett

  • this is a great song.....makes you think about many things...

  • te mamaste we esta chido

  • I absolutely wish I wrote this damn song.

  • Can you please send me embedding code to add to myspace. If you can check it out. You'll find it very informative and the flaming lips songs fits perfectly. Don't care about the sound. it's the message I seek.

  • it sounds really warped.

  • Very interesting video. I love this song.

But... the sound quality is really bad.

  • I agree with Owen, I always sort of thought of it as being more tragic, but this is still a really neat video. Well done. :)

It's only a shame the sound quality is so poor.

  • what are some good songs by the flaming lips?? e-mail me i want to no thanx

  • i love this song! nice video too!

  • wow!

    good work

  • in retrospect the genet aspect kind of fis how I feel about this and I doubt upon the fact that I could find any better way to portray it.

  • Thanks. I see what you mean about the tragic aspect.

  • i picture it as more tragic than destructive, but definitely open to interpretatiion. beautiful.

  • very cool - nice work!
