Nice flick, Don. You guys are nutty. I love it. I'm trying to catch up on my YouTube videos after Christmas and the New Year. Between Matt and you I have thirteen videos to watch. Matt said that I should just get something to eat and camp out in front of the computer.
@CASSCOMOSURVEYOR Oh, my. Welcome back. I have to check as often as possible as the subscriber vids pile up quickly and I'll be camped out as well. Not a bad hobby for a cold and snowy day, though! I knew the warm weather was going to halt abruptly!
Nice electronics on the rainbow ranger. Just got 2 lowrance units for a steal, an hds5 and a x135 for the bow, what are you running on your tracker don?
@GameFishermen Yes, he's got some terrific electronics on that Ranger. Congratulations on your getting some good units, too! I'm using somewhat low-end Hummingbirds on my Tracker; the 590HD something on the front is barely tolerable. Besides, I catch more fish in my pontoon and belly boat with a "fishin' buddy" depth finder! :) Tight lines, Don
@Winkiedoodles Can't beat the "fishin buddy" for a belly boat. My HDS 5 is pretty nice, but I don't like the fact that you have to buy the Downscan Box for $600 with the special transducer in order to use it. Oh well, got the HDS for only $35 anyways.
@GameFishermen Ouch. What the heck, with gas, boat, insurance, and equipment, the average 1 lb fish (if you kept it) would cost right about $100 a pound. That's a bargain, right? :) Have fun with your HDS. Don
@Winkiedoodles Yeah, I was at an auction in SE WI that was selling a lot of fishing equipment, probably an out of business sporting good store. I bought a box full of electronics, the condition was unknown, and it ended up being brand new in the box. Its a win, win for me.
@rickydbasser1 Thanks, Ricky! I've been fishing with my friend Barry for many years and we both believe fishing should be an enjoyable experience. Since we're not tournament anglers, the time on the water is spent outwitting the fish and telling lies. Appreciate your watching and commenting!
"Off Ya Go!" I love it! Nice hat, too, Don! How is that for a "Nose Wiper?" LOL! Watch out for falling rods! Thanks for the laughs, Don! Have a goodun!
@DLSings It is an honor that a REAL performing artist would watch and comment on my fishing video, Miss Lowe. Barry and I are also performers (clowns)....... :) All the best to you and your family in Edmonton and Merry Christmas from Brenda and I. Oh, by the way, Table Rock Lake is adjacent to Branson where other fabulous singers and performers have their venues.
@bloodknot101 Thanks, Skip. Hmmm. Double W Shad Flutter Spoon might work in your waters. They make a big 1-oz one (variety of colors). Deadly lures In Kansas lakes-fairly shallow, lots of hybrid "Wiper" bass. On long lake points they throw them out a mile (heavy gear), let them sink to the bottom, and then lift/drop and reel; repeat the process. The big Wipers hit them on the drop; maybe something like that would work over sandy beaches. I'm sure having fun testing them! Don
@BillGoudy Bill, Very chilly, but bearable. We might have to borrow some of your wood and build a campfire on the front deck next time though. Sadly (?), we've launched with temps in the low 20's.....I think the funnest one on Table Rock was last New Year's Day in the snow. Have to be careful that the launch ramps aren't iced up (strong winds) and if they are we don't go. I'll be testing some other FishTech lures in future excursions; thanks for watching! Don
I don't dare fast-forward your videos. I would hate to miss ANY of the fine witticisms contained within. It looked like the double dub-ya worked well. Another fun video! Thank you Don, and of course Barry and the widder maker.
@chihuahuabulldog Ah, yes indeed. These videos are like fine wine. The cork must be slowly extracted, the vintage allowed to breathe, slowly poured and swirled, and then each measure savored for the rich subtleties and pleasing aromatic nuances. And just as with imbibing wine, In the end you get a headache and diarrhea. :) Thanks, Anne.
@Winkiedoodles Okay, I just had to be patient. I was beginning to wonder when you were going to be talking about YOUR videos! LOL Great response Don. I really did/do like it!
@DJFishinman I appreciate that, Derrick. I "composed" a few...whatever they are...a while back and some aren't too bad. Time to open the software again and have another go at it unless a REAL MUSICIAN has some new songs..........please, pretty please? Merry Christmas to you and your family, Don and Brenda
@DJFishinman Lots of R's, DJ. Air temp was around 30 when we launched so long johns and insulated layers were a must. It wasn't the coldest day we've ever fished down there, we're waiting anxiously for really wonderful arctic conditions. If you have to wear a rubber mouthpiece to keep your teeth from chattering together so hard the fillings fall out, that's a great day on the lake! Are you iced in?
@fishingmaster13 I think the blade bait worked well for you this year, but don't know if anybody uses them on this lake. The key seems to be stay directly on top of them with precision electronics. We're following the advice of a Pro guide (and so were the other tournament anglers that day) for success on Table Rock. Keep after those smallies up there!
@pelletgun12 The former; the latter is a given this time of the year! We're in a crazy warm spell; almost 60 today........middle of December......? Couldn't go fishing, though, because the winds almost matched the temp. Maybe later this week. Happy holidays!
Great video! This shows what spoons can do for winter bass fishing. Vic liked the views of the fish finders. He thought it was interesting how you could see the spoon. Keep at it Don!
@Fishtechlures Thanks and hope it represented FishTech well! Next time out I'll give the Bubbas, the larger Double W's and a Square Deal a try on those Spots and Smallies. Yes, "video fishing" is really something. First, the fish appear to be like snakes, and then you watch your spoon go right down to them. Often you'll see a fish, or group of them, "explode" up off the botttom and come rushing up to hit the lure. Amazing technology.
@LiLJohn71088 I can't understand what all the fuss is about when someone owns a Ranger, do you? After all, with the built in carpet shampooer and central vac system clean up shouldn't have been of much concern..........ha!
@FishermanKansas Thanks, Ethan. As soon as the water hits around 50 they will really get gorging on shad and start hitting swimming grubs, too. As we like to say, the Big Boys come out, too.
