Sessions at West 54th..."Return of the Grevious Angel",a Gram Parsons Tribute...As soon as I watched the show,I searched eBay until I found this awesome CD!
@jray5363 ...Exactly, I ordered it when it was released...I still get reactions when I put it on for a crowd..'.I know that song from somewhere', they say...
I knew my marriage was in it's last stages--that I didn't have a thing in common with my then-husband anymore--when I was listening to this loud one night in the bedroom and he came into make fun of the song.
Amazing.......the voice is so similar to Gram in these tribute songs. Whiskeytown was heavily influenced by Gram and Ryan pulls it off perfectly. This was Grams' love song for the south of which he was from. Gotta love Gram, the ramblin man!! Also, look at Ryans version of Return of the Grevious Angel in which Emmylou is actually accompanying him...Awesome!!!!!!
i totally didn't realize ryan covered this. fuck! i'm covering it!!!!!!!!!! it's miiiine!!! muhahaha!!!...ok i'm stopping now...i know i will never be a s good as ryan.
Is that James Iha in the blue shirt w/ the Les Paul? I know he worked on Pneumonia and a few other misc. sessions w/ Ryan Adams.
Either way, Iha has surprisingly appeared on more non-Smashing Pumpkins projects than I ever imagined would end up on my iPod. Very versatile musician.
He's wearing eye shadow, powder and lip color. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just having trouble imagining him being talked into stage makeup.
The title of the tribute CD is "The Return of the Grievous Angel". Emmylou Harris organized it, and sings on many of the tracks. Lots of great musicians on it. BTW, you might note that the bass player in this video is Buddy Miller.
I NEED TO DOWNLOAD THIS SONG...NOW. I have looked everywhere (iTunes, Amazon, ARES, Limewire) but not luck. If you have the song from the Gram Parsons Tribute CD, and you want to donate it, I would really appreciate it.
I've clicked the like button, but where's the "love" button... LOL... Nasty come backs (maybe "un-") welcome! LOL

Greg Leisz is also playing steel guitar. Not bad for a kid of 23? at the time. I count 10 people on stage. He's so crazy.

Definately is. James also helped produce and played on Whiskeytown's last cd, "pneumonia." Pretty cool to see him playing with the band.
