The Thirteenth Dalai Lama's youth and his friend Nyagtul, a Nyingma master, were accused of resorting to black magic against the Thirteenth Dalai Lama. Demo Rinpoche died in a prison cell so small, one could not lie down in it. Nyagtul had the skin torn from his chest, the chest ripped open while still alive, and tied to a post on the circular path for circumambulating Lhasa , he was left there exposed to people's mockery and to die a slow excruciating death.

Where was the state oracle at the crucial moment in 1959. Tt was thanks to Dorje Shugdens urging that HHDL escaped last minute, using a route that had been kept free by Khampa guerilla (as adviced by Dorje Shugden two years previously)? Apparently, Nechungs repeated advice was for His Holiness to stay in the land! Not only that, but a vengeful spirit is suspected to impersonate Nechung at times and give false advice.

It's a bit long but it's so nice to read about the one who was called "Lama Tsongkhapa himself" by the 13th Dalai Lama. It's a pity Ursula Bernis was never able to finish the biography of this great master. He must have made such an impact on the local area for people to recite his name alongside Chenrezig's mantra.

The invasion matches what's happening actually. Through great pain to Tibetans, the rest of the world benefited from the purest Buddhadharma. The only thing the ban has achieved is give the media a reason to bring up a spiritual topic in their news every single time they talk about HHDL. It is for that reason that DS's practice is spreading outside of Tibet...just like Buddhism spread outside of Tibet once the Chinese invaded. Without the invasion, many people would not have gained the benefits of the pure teachings of Tsongkhapa, or met beneficial lamas like Lama Yeshe who did much to spread Buddhism and was a DS practitioner.

I'm not suggesting that we follow our gurus blindly because we cannot judge their motivations, but we need to consider the bigger picture. What caused the ban? Supposedly DS is a spirit and will harm the Dalai Lama's life. But the Dalai Lama is an emanation of a Buddha, how can he be harmed by just a spirit? What is the result of the ban? Well, it's definitely not harming DS - so many lamas have tried since the time of the Fifth Dalai Lama, to kill DS and he still exists!

Hence it confuses me why people always says DS and Nechung are at odds with one another, or that Nechung is jealous of DS. If Nechung created DS, what's he got to be jealous about? Both are dharma protectors working towards the same thing...there is no competition! Consulting Nechung is consulting DS. How do we know he and Nechung aren't working hand-in-hand to orchestrate this whole thing?

Dragpa Gyaltsen said yes, he remembered the promise that he made but wondered how he could become a being of wrath when he had removed all anger from his mindstream. To me, it's a great example of how Protectors and enlightened beings work together to spread the dharma.

I read on dorjeshugden{DOT}com that DS was created by Nechung. When Duldzin Dragpa Gyaltsen was receiving teachings from Je Tsongkhapa, Nechung manifested as a white dove and requested him to become a protector. Later, as Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsen, Nechung reappeared and reminded Dragpa Gyaltsen of his promise.

"Exile from the Land of Snows" and read the chapter 'Wheel of protection' where it says clearly the origin of Nechung and that he was an evil spirit that did not want buddhism to take root in Tibet.

For the first time in the history of the line of 14 Dalai Lamas to appear, this current one must go to court in India.

There is a slight delay in the hearing because court wants Dalai Lama to appear in person. DL's lawyers wish to send a substitue to speak for DL.

So far a hearing has commenced by no verdict yet.

Dalai Lama should never ban/restrict any type of religious practice especially in his host country.

The Dalai Is being charged with banning religious freedom.

Dorje Shugden is an emanation of Manjushri.

Dorje Shugden is practiced by many high lamas for hundreds of years. Even the previous Panchen Rinpoche of Tibet practices and has a large chapel till now dedicated to Dorje Shugden in Tashilunpo Monastery Tibet.

I have asked the question before to Khensur Kangyurwa Rinpoche (ex-abbot of sera -je) that Buddha nature has been desrcibed before as inherent or permenant where as its is taught that everything is impermanent, why was there this seemingly contradictory statements? His reply was that the aggregates of Buddha nature themselves where impermanent and the inherentness of Buddha nature was its emptiness.
