I personally think that the theatrical version had more effect and less profanity. We got the awesomeness of his line without the fact that, "Oh, it's a curse word." That's just my opinion.

@TheFoilGuy The Die Hard series is known by many for it's hardcore violent action and strong language (Die Hard 3 being the most violent and curse filled). So having the fourth movie without those elements (And serveral other) made the film feel unrelatable to the rest of the series. Not that I don't like it's over-the-top and explosive action, but I don't consider it a true sequel to the series, IMO.

But if I were to go on a rant about it I would say something like this:

"'Die Hard 4' barely feels like a Die Hard movie. But rather just another Bruce Willis action-flick with the words Die Hard branded on it. If Die Hard 3 had gotten the alternate ending that it very well could have (but didn't, you can read about this alternate ending on the web) it would have made a little bit more sense. Where'd John Mclean go?

@epshot Your right, the McClane here was definetly not the same one from the previous films. The original McClane would only get involved in a terrorist situation if he had no other choice, he would never get involved in a huge national thing like this unless he HAD to. On DH4, McClane has several instances to leave the whole situation behind him but he decides to carry on. Plus the film is set over 3 days, losing the intense, claustrophobic atmosphere of the first three. It's just not a DH film

The fact that it didn't line up (should have gone through the bad guy's left as with the way they were standing) was a goof, but it wasn't the reason that the other guy died while McClane didn't.
