I wish VW would have brought back this classic beetle for one year to the U.S.right before VW killed it world wide, i would have bought one in a heartbeat.
only downside is the build quality on later Mexican Beetles was not up to par with the German originals. However, I was tempted to have one imported to the USA that last year. The conversion to an old pan was considered a "rebuilt" car, so it was possible to do. 8 grand was not too bad either. I was concerned with parts on this odd (by USA standards) "newer" VW fuel injected engine I thought it safer to rebuild an older sedan.
The last classic VW BUG in the world was assembled at Puebla, Mexico the 30th of July 2003! See "The last Beetle leaves the VW factory in Puebla, Mexico (2003)"
What's incredible to think that somewhere in Mexico or Brazil there could be a guy who bought the last Ultimate Edition Beetle in the world (and therefore the second to last Beetle in the world; the last one is in the VW Museum.) brand new, and drives it everyday to work, takes trips in it, maybe accidently dents it or what not. And he might not even know. It's a shame that most of these final editions are kept in storage and never driven.

@brunovinazza aun es posible conseguirlos en México. Claro, nuevos es imposible pero hay varios en muy buen estado que, aunque no lo creas, están en venta. Seria cuestión de ver cuánto estarías dispuesto a dar tanto por el coche como por el traslado. Saludos y suerte.

Rear bumper was hit and looks odd, I think you also need the back license plate holder, If I were you I would replace the whole bumper for a new one they´re still available in Mexico....take care of that car only 3000 Ultima Edicion were made.
yep but after they finished producing the last edition, they started making bad quality but expensive bumpers, they last only a year befoer they start rusting. I had to re-chrome my bumpers.
Apoyo lo que te comenta Luis Manuel. Las defensas puedes conseguirlas por menos de 50 USD. Son marca Cadenza, pero OJO, el cromo es de mala calidad. Debes cromarla (y pintar la parte interna -en gris como la original- con pintura automotriz) antes de montarla. Y te recomiendo también limpiar (a mano) las llantas, con un desengrasante para manos (como los que huelen a naranja). Cuídalo mucho, las refacciones ya empiezan a desaparecer también!!!!

Rear bumper was hit and looks odd, I think you also need the back license plate holder, If I were you I would replace the whole bumper for a new one they´re still available in Mexico....take care of that car only 3000 Ultima Edicion were made.
