Carl just dumped him, plain and simple. Now maybe Carl had reason to dump him from earlier in the race but he could have dumped him earlier or done it in such a way that it wasn't so dangerous.

The two times that Carl has blatantly dumped Brad he has nearly killed him.

He needs to think that through a bit. Taladega was a different situation as Brad had made is one and only move and was on the yellow line. Carl came down on him in a blocking maneuver and wrecked himself.
