  • ya u played sooo much better with the joy stick

  • how do you get the memory chips in there.

  • Yeah FBA-XXX can definitely play MvC without the ram upgrade. Maybe you're thinking of MameX and how there are lots of games that won't run on it without the 128mb. FBA-XXX has no memory problems like that.

I remember wanting to get the RAM upgrade so I could play SFIII Third Strike with Mameox 128. Never did though. Now I just use my PC for everything.

  • impressive!

  • Comment removed

  • CAPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELINHA !!!!!!

  • lol and you had it on easy haha.

  • Whats the point???

  • I'm kind of unsure what I'm seeing here. You've obviously upgraded the RAM, but what did it do? You say that you couldn't play Marvel VS Capcom before because it would run out of memory? I have the standard amount of memory in my modded XBOX, and I play MvC all the time. It runs perfectly on my machine. So what gives? Is it the dashboard you're using that takes advantage of the extra memory?

  • @pvtawol Lol can you not read, this video is 3 years old when emulators werent as good for Xbox.

  • It still lags! ( 0:25 )

  • Can you watch videos of women making stool on it?

  • my xbox can buffer more stool than it will ever need to

  • @rudenoodle wtf

  • what emulator are you using

  • I've got xbox running XBMC to stream Web/LAN media, i play quake 3 arena on it the homebrew 1, some of the mods will play ok, and some will not, when i load the URBAN TERROR4.1mod the game starts, i can even pick the server i want to join, click on connect the map/level starts to load, then about half way in it stop loading, because the xbox has run out of memory, WOULD THE 128MB RAM UPGRADE SOLVE THIS PROBLEM

  • The Xbox has a place on the mobo for the extra chips for devkit systems.

  • where can i get the ram??

  • google that shit!!

  • The point of upgrading is the whole point of experimenting, hacking, and making the xbox do things it wasn't made too...

Shit people fill their xboxs with leds and spend lots of time doing so with no actually benefit. It looks cool and you had fun making it.. thats the point of hacking/modding

  • Could you tell me if with 128MB is possible to run MPEG-4 H.264 videos in 1280x720 or 1920x1080 resolutions w/o lag?

    thnx

  • i would also like to know if it rns without lag ?

  • barely

  • too bad =(

    so it's better me get a 360

  • yes

  • "goddamn what a cheap bastard" HAHAHAHA.

  • hello that so a greeting now that you have the ram of 128 you could put ultimate mortal kombat and revolution x in emuladro mameox to see if with but ram works well since they only run to me deactivating the good serious sound that you raised to the video running those games with sound thanks

  • Video is not about making combos.. is about showing off 128 Mb improvement on the xbox...

  • so, you can add Mb on Xbox?

  • The only advantage I can see (or in this case hear) is the sound is running at the right speed with the extra ram, otherwise, alot of work (extra ram chips) for very little benefit.......my xbox stock runs KAWA-X and MvsC (etc etc) full speed but lags in the sound, oh well, I'll survive........

  • That's weird, I'm always able to start Marvel VS Capcom on my FBA XXX emulator on the Xbox without any memory upgrades at all...the only games that needed more memory for me were Mortal Kombat (none of them load, you run out of memory) and a few others...otherwise I don't see the point to upgrade since xbox games don't usually take advantage of it.

  • so what??? what is the diference???

  • which emulator were you using it looks great, i use the mame 128 plus and and don't look nothing like that

  • The emulator was kawa-x

  • @DetroitBankhead KAWA - X

  • "Gettin owned. God damit cheap ass...." hahaha. I speak that language also when i'm gettin owned. Anyways my xbox has 64 mb Ram and Marvel vs Capcom works just fine. Maybe that memory thing is like for bigger emulators like playstaion or N64.

  • yes.. the 128 memory is only really handy for XBMC and some emulators.. you can patch games to accept the full 128 but I heard they run too fast.. I wasnt using the right emu at the time to demonstrate its full power.. and right now my xbox needs a new psu. to use all the memory I should have ran the emulator called mame0x. later

  • What? XBMC runs slower on 64MB?!?

    WTF?

  • what mod chip do you have on there?i got the executer peice of shit and want to upgrade

  • lol why not just play this on pc with emulator with gigs of ram

  • Because there are no xbox emulators that actually works.

  • I think he means the arcade games them selves not the xbox

  • why not just throw my 46" lcd in the garbage then. idiot.

  • I can play Marvel VS Capcom perfectly on my box and it has stock Ram...it plays just as fast as here. But I'm using FBA XXX...don't know which one you're using.

  • yeah same

  • Where do you buy memory for the xbox ?

  • you have to get the memory from another xbox.. ;)

  • Er.. sorry to talk so much, I just got excited.

I have a question, I have all the important emulators on my xbox and also have Mame. I don't remember even Mortal Kombat running at full speed with mame on my xbox. It's not a ram thing as it easily loads

Unless they have faster ports. Mame itself is pretty inefficent but the compatibility is great.

Have you tried something as simple as Mortal Kombat? It has to be much simpler than Marven vs. Capcom even without using as much ram.

  • I use FBA XXX and Marvel VS Capcom has always loaded at full speed on my Xbox which has no memory upgrades, I also run Metal Slug 3 and other games like Samurai Showdown V special which all ran perfectly at full speed. I think the ram upgrade would be better for Surreal64 specially for Golden Eye.

  • Ram WILL make a diffence with mame mortal kombat. it will load anyway but the ram will be resourcefull for helping run full speed.

  • Not only does no system do it as good as the xbox but no system is as EASY to mod as an xbox.

Back in the day, the knowledge was all scrambled. If you didn't know anyone personally who had done it, starting from scratch could seem daunting to most people.

No one wanted to nuke a new xbox. These days they are so cheap, XBMC is honestly worth it alone.

Hotswapping + Softmod FTW, they work just as good. I tsopped mine, but you can even upgrade the HD without that if you are careful and pay attn.

  • Yeah, I just upgraded to 500gb...I was going to upgrade to 750gb but ran a little short on the green so I bought a 500gb instead which should satisfy most of my needs. Unfortunately it has 8MB cache instead of 16MB but it's still way better than the default 2MB on the stock hard drive.

  • The dreamcast is a farcry from the xbox but it does emulation quite easily.

  • I love my xbox.

I've modded 21 now for various friends. Not illegal, put cromwell on but let them reflash it if they want, but did everything needed.

Regardless, I never liked xboxs years ago before I modded mine. In fact, I didn't really like that generation of consoles in general.

I was using my Dreamcast for emulation, I can't even think I ever thought it was good at this point.

People say if you want home brew to use dreamcast or ps2. I don't understand why, no system does it like xbox.

  • Hmmm. the emulator I used Is Kawa x and it runs full speed with the default 64mb memory...

  • Wow I posted this so long ago.. I cant believe people are still commenting but.. to answer your question meshflesh yes I believe kawa-x will run it at full speed. I should have used a better emu for an example like MameOX.. mameox is setup to use the full 128 mb.. Im sure Ive got some roms that arent possible for 64mb xboxs to load.. Maybe Ill find some free time and make a better demo if people still care :) I still have my 128mb xbox .. incase you would like me to make a better video sometime

  • Yes it would be cool to see if killer instinct or mortal combat will load on mameox.

  • hay can i take ram off of a broken xbox to put on my modded one?

  • it be cool if you could put 2 gigs on there

  • dude, nice job on the xbox but you suck at MvsC :P

btw, it doesn't do anything for normal xbox games because they are capped at 64mb of ram so it will only improve homebrew stuff (emulators, etc.)

  • coolio

  • So what does that extra ram do for normal xbox games?

  • I'd like to know this too. When you boot to the XBox dashboard can you still play your xbox games? Cool vid btw, favourited.

  • Excluding using a linux-only bios, when you mod, you still retain original xbox functionality, plus the ability to run non-microsoft certified programs on it.

I.E Yes you can still play xbox games.

The extra RAM won't really do anything for the original games since they were programmed with 64mb of RAM in mind. They normally won't stray above that. However, homebrew software can utilize this extra memory and make the app run faster/better.

So there you have it! =]

  • Thanks for your reply deadlokIV. Since my last comment I purchased an XBox, installed a modchip (Xecuter 3 CE), upgraded the HD (750GB) and bought some RAM to install (need to buy some more, one chip has missing pins). In other words my XBox mod project is developing nicely! Looking forward to when I've got the hardware finished (going to upgrade the fan too) so I can get on with pimping out the software side! Thanks for your video which gave me some inspiration.

  • Your welcome, and it's good to hear that you're really going for this.

Btw you do know this isn't my video, right? =D

Do you live in the US? I'm finding it hard to source xbox stuff nowadays and wanted to ask where you've been dealing!

    Cya inabit

  • Nice job!
