@WatchmenDrManhattan The book is Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqist, it's a brilliant book. However, the book is not for the movie, the book came first and Let Me In changed a lot of aspects of it, such as the setting, which is Sweden in the book and not America.

@SuperDooper1999 I prefer the Scandinavian one also; it's a lot more like the original novel and it has the charm of beautiful Sweden! I was actually a bit angry when I heard about the remake...It's not THAT hard to read subtitles.

@JetScreamerJr The Swedish version is better because it wasn't made for a bunch of Americans who are too lazy to read subtitles and so geographically incompetent that they don't know where Sweden is. The scene with cats was horrifically poor, but the acting was excellent throughout and the beauty of Sweden far surpasses that of New Mexico. Plus, the original novel isn't twisted as much in Let The Right One In.

But this is money we're talking about here, that's all the film industry cares about and hey, you can't blame them for that. The new nightmare film was a snooze fest and almost everybody agrees on that. As far as LIM is concerned, it's acquired both critical and fan praise, because it's a quality production. And it also made almost no financial gain at the box office.

Not as good as the original by any means. Not bad but obviously changed the wrong things. Bully has a reason to Bully, the mom is nicer than she should be they try to pound the fact in that she is a vampire the scene in the tunnel and where she climbs the tree looks stupid and fake. I had hope for this but it falls short. The kids acting is ok but much souless Elly (ugh Abbi) is ok but compared to the originals nope . They ruined the final pool scene too. It's like less plot with more scenes.
Remakes like these make me feel a bit embarrassed on behalf on the US. XD I mean, seriously? Do you honestly have to remake every movie masterpiece just because they don't speak English? I don't know of a single European country that remakes American movies. Remakes like these are an insult to the original director and actors. At least we respect the creators, and use something very handy called "subtitles". The US should check that word up.
No i think its worse. Swedish version is full of emotion that we can feel. This version has the same emptyness like movie twilight has. Emotions are predicted to be there but you just cant feel them.
@N2ikola Actually, I think the Swedish version has LESS emotion, particularly since the director told the actors exactly how to act out the scene, how to say their lines, everything. There is so much emotion and layers here that you can't see it all at first glance. In fact, I'd argue that the Swedish version is closer to Twilight because of its hoaky acting and extreme melodrama. Don't get me wrong, it's a million times better than Twilight, but 'Let Me In' is the superior film.

@iamlobsterfist This movie was undeniably good, it's to the point where it can't even be argued. Now if you prefer the Swedish version, hey, that's just fine. But to call this "pure american garbage" is just ignorant. I can guarantee that you have NO valid reasons for disliking this film, NONE. Honestly, you're just a fucking cry baby.. And every cry baby needs something to whine about. Maybe if I fix you a warm bottle of milk, you might shut the fuck up, lol.

She took the candy because she saw how sad he got when she didn't take one. she ate it to make him happy even though it'd make her sick. I love this movie, I dont give a fuck what you're all saying about it. it was just perfect. so so much better than that garbage twilight.

Not as good as the original by any means. Not bad but obviously changed the wrong things. Bully has a reason to Bully, the mom is nicer than she should be they try to pound the fact in that she is a vampire the scene in the tunnel and where she climbs the tree looks stupid and fake. I had hope for this but it falls short. The kids acting is ok but much souless Elly (ugh Abbi) is ok but compared to the originals nope . They ruined the final pool scene too. It's like less plot with more scenes.

Remakes like these make me feel a bit embarrassed on behalf on the US. XD I mean, seriously? Do you honestly have to remake every movie masterpiece just because they don't speak English? I don't know of a single European country that remakes American movies. Remakes like these are an insult to the original director and actors. At least we respect the creators, and use something very handy called "subtitles". The US should check that word up.
And, uh... why the hell is Eli blonde? XD

No i think its worse. Swedish version is full of emotion that we can feel. This version has the same emptyness like movie twilight has. Emotions are predicted to be there but you just cant feel them.

@N2ikola Actually, I think the Swedish version has LESS emotion, particularly since the director told the actors exactly how to act out the scene, how to say their lines, everything. There is so much emotion and layers here that you can't see it all at first glance. In fact, I'd argue that the Swedish version is closer to Twilight because of its hoaky acting and extreme melodrama. Don't get me wrong, it's a million times better than Twilight, but 'Let Me In' is the superior film.

Chloe is just like Natalie Portman when she was young. Not your tipical hot babe but absolutely cute. And as far as i can tell incredibly talented!
And just look at how Natalie turned out to look in terms of hotness. Id take her in a heartbeat if i could :P
