It takes a few listens to work out exactly what is what. - when you do work it out then you find that it is a better episode than it first appears to be - but it is not up to it's usual exceptionally high standard & you cannot reasonably expect it to be that way every single week.

Mario tried to do something a little different & it didn't quite come off - BIG DEAL !. - I'm glad he tries to keep it fresh.

i think that's the point of the confusion. Jose doesn't want people talking about his Champion's League embarrassment. So, he would start up all this confusion as a distraction this way people don't talk about his loss. it at least worked in this show.
