I heard on the radio today that the director for this clip wasn't aware that Dave Gahan was the singer, he believed that was Alan Wilder.

So when he beginned to shoot he told Wilder "Ok you come from this way and you sing" and nobody from the band disagree.

One can say Anthony Corbijn really was what Depeche Mode needed from Black Celebration onwards.

Depeche Mode themselves refuse to watch many of their early videos and haven't even released them. The video to "Leave in Silence" is even worse.

I also remember a competition on Swedish tv channel ZTV, in the late 90s, where people could vote (by letter or post card?) the best and worst videos ever done. Sinead O'Conner's Nothing compares 2 U was in the top 5. Best video of all was was Enjoy the silence.. And worst video was this one. Depeche surely have lots of devoted fans.

I remember in like 1994 when I first visited Internet and searched for Depeche Mode. I found some interesting fansites and also a massive fan poll. This song got very high points, perhaps being the song of the 80s (only Depeche) with the highest points of all. Just sort of my first Internet memory, I just wanted to share. ;)
