I am glad that several years after the divorce they became good friends. He had a good thing with her, but the alcohol and drug use killed their relationship. I believe that his near-fatal car wreck, which took place a year after she died, may have finally broke him.

Tammy Wynette was married to George Jones and in a interview she said " That when ever George would get drunk he would beat the hell of her Tammy Wynette." George always had a drinking problem. She passed way a couple of years ago. Poor Tammy

@redwing46901 I agree but you can see why, he used to put her on the spot, on stage by saying tammy says one things for certain and in other performeces at the end of this song he would say 'Tammy can i ask you something, do you still love me. It was passive agressive, but he did his share of griping about tammy. They only became friends again when she nearly died in 1994 and then they did that album together and he stopped doing that. Nancy his has been a good influence on George.

it's true, he did spit on her during this particular performance twice. Tammy always said the way that Jones sang just drove her up the wall because he would sing through clenched teeth. It took ages during sessions with Billy Sherrill to finally get him to lower his pitch and to loosen up his jaw. Pure magic nonetheless.
