  • Hi Miyabi! I'm learning Japanese for fun (and on the hope of visiting soon!) and I find it kind-of funny that there is a formal "I" --since you are referring to yourself, would it seem pompous if you are not some high-ranking individual? It it more of a context thing, as in you may use it at a formal gathering? Thanks!

  • I always love your funky music! :D

  • I think those who use sessha have probably watched too many samurai anime :P

  • i like using あたし :)

  • Sessha wa samurai de gozaru

  • Very good! Thank you!

  • @ScottyM9991 Thank you very much! :D

  • Yay, I wonder which one would make my sensei most surprised when I use it ^^ thanks for the vids!

  • @kawaiijack I think teachers would be surprised if you use any words for males! Haha! ^0^ Thank you for watching, take care!! :)

  • I think I replied to everyone...IF I didn't do that to you, please let me know!

Anyway, take care and have a safe/great weekend! ^-^

  • oh... nothing to do with my explanation.

I"ll try to get that novel in English or Spansh to read it. I really want to know how that unlucky cat got drunk and died. Is a sad end.

    See you.

  • which one could be an example for 我輩?

If you say that it usef to be a pretencious expression of oneself and put those pictures, mmmm....

is the case of a drunk guy who pretends being professional at drinking?

    and what about the cat?

    Greetings Miyabi.

  • @Bjorkit I posted those pictures, a cat and beer, because of the Japanese very famous novel "我輩は猫である[Wagahai wa neko de aru]" by Sōseki Natsume. A cat is the main character of it, and at the end the cat sadly drowned because of getting drunk on beer! I was waiting to explain that till some people asked me why I posted those pictures, sorry! ^0^

  • very interesting and helpful video, thanks! Doesn't "uchi" mean also "home"? So a woman refers to herself as "home"? Sounds a bit strange to a western mind...

  • @ottovoss1 Hahaha. I'm going to make another video to explain that. Please give me the time to make it!

  • @ottovoss1 Hi! Now I just uploaded a video for you.^^

  • Did you remove your facebook fanpage or just me since I didn't talk much? Because I never see any updates hehe... -_-'

  • @Lilamente Hi! I haven't had my facebook FAN page. Maybe you mean just my facebook page? I stopped using it several months before because I wanted to use my time for making my videos more! So recently I upload new videos more frequently, do I? ^-^ But I'm really sorry I closed there without any explanations to you guys! ^0^

  • @JustMiyabi Yeah haha it seems like you have videos more often now which I enjoy. I was just wondering though so it's fine. I thought you had deleted me hehe. >.>

  • @Lilamente Never! >< Haha! I never removed you! ^0^ I'm going to keep on making better videos! ^ー^

  • Thank you Miyabi san for the lesson ^_^

Is this an video you posted before? I favourite it anyway, yaaiiiih for favourite videos ^_^

Have a great day now with your family

  • @pekinobo Hi Pekinobo. Thank you for your support always! I'm going to keep on making useful videos for you guys!^^

  • wow! I only knew about Boku, Watashi, and Ore!!! I never knew there was so many ways to say "I" in Japanese!!! :D!!! awesome!!!

  • @MANNY100123 Thank you very much! ^-^ You seem to like this video!

  • How do I say chicken sandwich in Japan?

  • @norxcontacts I think it is チキンサンド. I hope this helps you!

  • Why did she put a picture of a cat and beer?

Let me guess.... something to do with america. Sounds like america, lol

  • @Animefestify I posted those pictures, a cat and beer, because of a famous Japanese novel 我輩はネコである[wagahai wa neko dearu] by Sōseki Natsume! The main character is a cat, and sadly it did drown by getting drunk on beer.

  • what about わっち? is it just another way of saying わし?

  • @RetroGamerDBK わっち? I haven't heard it bit before. Maybe it is a kind of dialects?

  • @andremoreira20 Haha! (^0^) Yeah! I posted those pictures, a cat and beer, because of the famous Japanese novel 我輩はネコである[wagahai wa neko dearu] by Sōseki Natsume!

  • Great lesson! Ur editing is getting so professional! Good job!

  • @ozzy78 Hi Oz! Thank you for your nice comment! ^-^

    Happy Halloween to youu~

  • @chiisarin Thank you very much! I hope you enjoyed Halloween! ^-^

  • Wow, nice. So many ways to say it, but at least it seems safe to use watashi or boku. Thank you

  • @Motouyuu Yeah, I think that is safe to use boku in informal situations and watashi in formal situations if you are male. ^^ I'm glad this video is useful for you! :)

  • Comment removed

  • Man, if a guy goes around referring to himself as "watashi" at all times, it just feels so horribly feminine. Granted, I have very "slangy" Japanese, but I would never refer to myself (nor do I know anyone who would) as "Watashi" outside of strictly formal situations.

  • @TokyoZeplin

That's cuz you're a punk and speak trash Japanese. Just saying....

    (Come back to Japan!)

  • @Gimmeabreakman hey, I totally did say my keigo wasn't exactly decent! :P But again though, none of my Japanese friends say "watashi" either :S Maybe it's a social circle thing?

And I'll be back next week actually, for 3 months!

  • @TokyoZeplin So what do you use then?

  • @Tenshouification I use ore in informal situations, and watashi in formal situations.

  • @TokyoZeplin Ah nice thanks.

  • @Tenshouification if you don't really know the surroundings or situation or people your with though, do note that "ore" can be seen as a little rude. It's all in context :)

  • @TokyoZeplin Hello! Thank you for your comments! I enjoyed reading them! haha! (^0^)♥ Oh, you are going to get back Japan for a months? Have a good time!

  • i love your videos i find them extrmely helpfull and informative thank you so much miyabi-san

  • @124ivonne Thank you very much! :D

  • Very informative!

  • @CxplorerV2 Thank you very much! :)

  • cool this is very helpful Miyabe :D I'm taking japanese next semester at my college, so when I start ill have a lot of stuff learned. thanks :)

  • @TulsaIzMiiHood Thank you for the comment! I'm really glad this is useful for you! :D

  • your videos are so cute

  • @myanime101 Thank you very much!! :)

  • hmmm, forgive my ignorance, if one addresses oneself as "watashi" is one being humble/subordinate?

  • @TruthatCearcie No, no. Using the word "watashi" for oneself is just polite (I think it doesn't mean "humble"). Females use watashi both in formal/informal situations very often. Males often/sometimes use it in formal situations. When males use it in informal situations too, I feel that they are a bit feminine or very polite!

  • @JustMiyabi Perhaps I did not ask my question correctly, let me try again. modern English lacks eloquence and grace. it is difficult to express oneself using English because we only have one standard, we do not have polite or harsh and masculine or feminine variations. so my question is more like this, is it polite to be passive, subordinate, humble, meek, etc.? I do not consider myself to be particularly aggressive and I don't want to offend anyone...

  • My dear friend I know it is a little late but could you do a Vid on Halloween in Japan for us ...I would really like to see what the little ones do....

  • @47justme Hi Fred! Thank you for your comment! ^-^ Actually the custom of celebrating it is not popular in Japan yet. But I heard young people in Tokyo walked streets in Shibuya on Halloween day this year! I was a bit surprised and thought "We have the custom in near future!" ^0^

  • @DirtyRatBastards Hi Koki! Thank you for your comment always! (^
