  • En el lado argentino hay todavia más papeleras que en Uruguay y con peor tecnologia y contaminacion pero claro ellos solo protestan por la papelera uruguaya que no contamina y que tiene la mejor tecnologia del mundo.

  • this illlustrates what i mean with monoculture eucaliptus forrests: watch?v=Kn5tg1F6SMc

  • The problem is not merely the contamination that a pulp mill will cause. If you dig deeper into the issue, ask yourselfs why Botnia wants a pulpmill in a place with almost no natural forrests? Where is the tree to the mill gonna come from? is it to be transported from finland? No, they are going to get it by planting fastgrowing monoculture forrests of eukaliptus, right there on the beautiful surrounding praires of Argentina and Uruguay! This catastrophe is much bigger than what meets the eye!

  • Love to hear the rallying cries of the ¨environmentalists¨..NO TO MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS! PIRATES! THIEVES!.... that is except for the multinational UNILEVER, which functions in the industrail park of that city and ¨collaborates¨ with the ¨cause¨. Ridiculous delinquents is what they are.

  • Lamentably the Argentinians are like that ... in the whole world they are hated

  • Oh my goodness! People taking matters in their own hands? Cmon now! Whatever happened to civilized communities? I blame the president too!! That bitch should go put some order in her streets. These people should be charged. Ridiculos.

  • The Argentian president put order in the streets, no doubt, u just need to see how she sends police to sweep the "piqueteros" away from 9 de julio Av. But our bridge is something else, her husband encouraged these people to block the route to the bridge and now she is just allowing them to keep. But don't think this is the worst thing we Fraibentinean suffer, no. Much worse is the betrayal we experiment from the new elected president of our country, José Mujica.

  • Another pulp mill had interest to settle in here, but a few days ago José Mujica said "don't give me more troubles with Argentina" and "I will not allow another factory in Fray Bentos", "don't ask me what I cannot give". The point is, 24 hours after he said that, the company said they are not going to settle in Fray Bentos.

Again this man sells us for his friendship with the Kirschner.

  • The first time he betrayed Fray Bentos was when, months ago, he said if he wins the elections he was going to ask Botnia (the pulp mill already working) to give money to Argentina so they invest it on tourism. What happen? Fray Bentos, Uruguayos like him, don't need this help? We need it much more than the people who are doing all this, first of all because we are the victims in all this crime. But Mujica does not have moral to do the right thing.

  • Sad but true, a broken botherhood because of a paper mill.....lucky that 95% of argentinians now know that they have many paper mills in Argentina them self and only a minority do the harm by blocking one of the bridges that took so long to build.

In History...that same minority at Entre Rios had to thank the eastern side of the river for some big help.

Entre Rios....probably where argentinians are 100% equal in culture to uruguayans.....sad.....very sad.

  • if they legalized hemp, pulp mills would be put out of business

  • ...not really...there are more trees than hemp plants in the world...why would they not take advantage of the natural resources...

  • hemp is renewable, easy, and faster growing than trees. Save the Amazon rain forests, grow hemp.

  • yeahhh i agree with that...but i dont think tree companies do...i dont think that they would stop exploiting nature just because there are other ways of doing things...

    like the oil companies...

  • But....we need paper....we all do....what are we going to do?.....go back to write on rock ? or whipe our butt with leafs ?....Man....is sad but we just cant stop progress...sad man....sad.

  • i gotta go with the environmentalists here

just because something brings in money does not mean its good

A certain kind of economy that is based on frivilous consumption must end

if that causes temporary hardships ....so be it

  • @radicalGOD

that's not the case that outrages uruguayans here, mate. if these so called environmentalists truly cared about the environment, they'd be lobbying argentina to get rid of their pulp mills. argentina being over 10x larger than uruguay, has many more mills. 1 mill means more to uruguay than it does to argentina.

  • @radicalGOD

the only problem is that they are not ¨environmentalists¨. If they were, the first thing they would have gotten rid off would be the ¨industrial park¨ Parque Industrial Gualeguaychu ( PIG ...yeah that is its acronym! An OMEN! Since it is a contamination monster, that pollutes 100 times more than the Orion plant). They have a lead foundry there, it is one of the most contaminating industries in the world. What they are is paid hypocrites!
