crystal reds are acutally the exact same species as cherry shrimp (Neocaridina Heteropoda) people have just specifcally bred them into different color variations, they are all still the same species, and have the same envirnomental requirements.

hi simontay78 !! im from the philippines and our local pet store sells those cherry shrimps.. but they dont sell live plants or moss whatsoever.. im planning to put fake plants and driftwood for hiding and climbing.. will they breed this way ?? pls reply asap coz im xcited to buy those shrimps.. anyway nice video !! :))
@kentrangel I believe they will breed as long as the water is clean, well fed (once a day not too much!) with either algae pellets or wafer. Cherry Red shrimps are the easiest to breed as they don't need too cold a environment to survive unlike Crystal red Shrimps.
Get about 20 shrimps & they will breed like no tomorrow, however do note don't put big fishes with shrimps or they will hide 24-7 from the fishes until all got eaten up! LOL
@pro194757 at first I thought the shrimp might eat the eggs that's why I put in a breeding tank specially for eggs laying but later I found out nope the small shrimps are lively enough to swim away from danger & hide in plants to avoid predators.
@simontay78 Cherry Shrimp Change there color depending on the temperature of the tank and fluorescent light. The more darker the more red. The more lighter the more pale or peach color. The more in between it should be either orangish or red.
@mpestata Because they arent breed selective. some are more red then others and if you breed bright red with another brigt red the babys will be red and if you do a bright red one with a not so red one they will be not so red.
hey i apreciate you replying to my question i was wondering how the shrimp would do with baby zebras cause i could move those guys together :) also im interested in live plants im wondering how the maintnace and care required for them are.. also nice diy overflow & sump update its a sweet lil setup there also about them lobsters "crayfish" i seen a guppy swiming around wouldent it eat it ??subcribe ?
I suppose adult shrimps will be in no danger to be eaten by baby zebras as the mouth are small but when those zerbras grows up do watch the shrimps for egg carrying shrimps and put them in another "incubator" to raise the baby shrimps to a "safe" size before introducing them into the main tank.
Live plants are great, they don't really need ant maintance at all after planted. But you sometimes have to cut some of them off so they won't fill the tank when they grow. :]
Zebra Danios are omnivorous, accepting almost any foods. Although undemanding in diet, they particularly enjoy small live or frozen inverts, and fresh vegetable matter.
That means...they do eat baby shrimps if they can find or catch it. If you planning to keep fishes in the tank, put lot's of plants for the shrimps to hide and multiply :D
I have no idea on the ph balance I simply use a over flow system into a bigger plastic ikea box & use a simple sump that stacks multiple pails with holes as filter & sump holder.
The rest just add plenty of water with anti chlorine, Cherry Shrimps are the most adaptive to water conditions compared to other species like Crystal Red Shrimps...that need good water conditions & cooler temperature.
I got it from the local fish shop at clementi blk 328 if you are in Singapore however don't worry if your tank dun have any fishes...if have then u need the breeding tank
I've got about a couple of prawn fry already. They're quite cute actually, but once during the water change, I accidentally sucked a fry out. Luckily I saw and removed it from the waste container before disposing off the waste, or else there'll be a "Creature in the sewer" [Muhahaha]!
It's hard to change water properly after you got a tank FULL of fry LOL I use a overflow pipes to suck water from the top with netting as well...it's in one of my video :D
Wow, fantastic recording. From your way of speaking, even our Malaysian's Manglish is more or less the same (Chinese mix mah...) My shrimps gave birth too, despite the fact that the water temperature rose to about 30-31 deg Celcius. However, I honestly don't know how to manage my Algae wafer. They became algae growth too fast...
The temp is about 27,5 to 28.5 deg Celsius which is survivable by the cherry shrimps if the temp go any higher they might survive but not gd ...for any one thinking of crystal red...u need chiller to go colder instead very hard to survive in Singapore
Hey there once you said :"my father" at the begining, I know you are a chinese, am I right? If I am where do you stay? Malaysia?Singapore? Nice idea using the magnifying glass.... 5stars
LOL nope it's a PSP Chotto Camera attachment and I'm using it to video the shrimp with magnifying glass and use my neck to grab a mobile phone a stunt that is tiring by the way :D lol but I enjoyed the process! :3

The shrimp feed on shrimp food bought at fish shops :)
If you cannot find or locate any use normal fish algae wafer will do...I get those big algae wafer for cat fish types....shrimps love it
Size of small shrimps start giving birth very early...research on wiki for more.
