  • Hey bro where r u from?

  • Mom! Our dinner is giving birth

  • She's like "Hurry up and get out. I can't take much more of this!" Ha!

  • crystal reds are acutally the exact same species as cherry shrimp (Neocaridina Heteropoda) people have just specifcally bred them into different color variations, they are all still the same species, and have the same envirnomental requirements.

  • hi simontay78 !! im from the philippines and our local pet store sells those cherry shrimps.. but they dont sell live plants or moss whatsoever.. im planning to put fake plants and driftwood for hiding and climbing.. will they breed this way ?? pls reply asap coz im xcited to buy those shrimps.. anyway nice video !! :))

  • @kentrangel I believe they will breed as long as the water is clean, well fed (once a day not too much!) with either algae pellets or wafer. Cherry Red shrimps are the easiest to breed as they don't need too cold a environment to survive unlike Crystal red Shrimps.

Get about 20 shrimps & they will breed like no tomorrow, however do note don't put big fishes with shrimps or they will hide 24-7 from the fishes until all got eaten up! LOL

  • @simontay78 I thought they needed salt water for the eggs. I may be wrong, but that's what I've read.

  • @Pop12646Okami Hmmm I think cherry shrimps gave birth directly without eggs...maybe other types of shrimps lay eggs? hmm

  • im accualy from malaysia..batu pahat.,johore...

im really addiccted to shrimps now..ur nt going for crystal?

  • @pro194757 Crystal red need chiller...hehe expensive electricity leh

  • hello tey...errm the shrimp hor u catch from the main tnak and put inside what??it wont abbort the eggs"?

  • @pro194757 at first I thought the shrimp might eat the eggs that's why I put in a breeding tank specially for eggs laying but later I found out nope the small shrimps are lively enough to swim away from danger & hide in plants to avoid predators.

  • hey simon you talk just like me when my guppy gave birth

  • @TheXavierjeff really? :D It's one of those moment we should remember for the rest of our life! :D

  • Will they hatch on the glass floor like that?

  • @Deathofblades different shrimps give birth differently, for cherry shrimps they give birth straight from the mother shrimp :D

  • @simontay78 Soo the shrimp give birth to younglings right away?? Not lay eggs?

  • Hi, i live in singapore too.

Where do you buy the PSP Camera from? and how much?

  • @TheGrandJump bought from Sim Lim Sq but very expensive I rather you use iPhone or other

  • i live in singapore. Do you sell your shrimp

  • @wigglezhujun I sell small amount lol recently they hide very well LOL email me :D

    simontay78 @ gmail dot com

  • great video, how awesome to catch this on video ... my cherry shrimps vary in colour too :O)

  • why they aren't red , but orange ?? they aren't red cherry...

  • @mpestata They are orange sometimes...not sure why.

  • @simontay78 stress, irregular water quality

  • @simontay78 Cherry Shrimp Change there color depending on the temperature of the tank and fluorescent light. The more darker the more red. The more lighter the more pale or peach color. The more in between it should be either orangish or red.

  • @mpestata Because they arent breed selective. some are more red then others and if you breed bright red with another brigt red the babys will be red and if you do a bright red one with a not so red one they will be not so red.

  • Wow that's great. All my shrimp keep dying. Fucken shrimp!

  • @SuperGaryOak Its not easy at first for me too jia you! Try easy shrimps like cherry red shrimps :)

  • @simontay78 I had 10 glass shrimp but all other than one died. Theyre quite expensive in australia so might try the glass shrimp one more time.

  • Nice vid and you sound like that guy from the video "Uncle sam gets jacked" :D XD

  • Hey there!! Im Singaporean too!! would like to buy some shrimps from you...Are they still up for sale? I live at punggol btw Haha!

  • @934f hahaa email me at simontay78 @ gmail . com remove the spaces and we talk :D

  • What do u feed yr red cherry shrimp?

  • @Anamika2505 Algae Wafer :D

  • hey i apreciate you replying to my question i was wondering how the shrimp would do with baby zebras cause i could move those guys together :) also im interested in live plants im wondering how the maintnace and care required for them are.. also nice diy overflow & sump update its a sweet lil setup there also about them lobsters "crayfish" i seen a guppy swiming around wouldent it eat it ??subcribe ?

  • I suppose adult shrimps will be in no danger to be eaten by baby zebras as the mouth are small but when those zerbras grows up do watch the shrimps for egg carrying shrimps and put them in another "incubator" to raise the baby shrimps to a "safe" size before introducing them into the main tank.

  • Live plants are great, they don't really need ant maintance at all after planted. But you sometimes have to cut some of them off so they won't fill the tank when they grow. :]

  • Do you think zebra danios will eat baby shrimp ?

  • Zebra Danios are omnivorous, accepting almost any foods. Although undemanding in diet, they particularly enjoy small live or frozen inverts, and fresh vegetable matter.

That means...they do eat baby shrimps if they can find or catch it. If you planning to keep fishes in the tank, put lot's of plants for the shrimps to hide and multiply :D

  • @callmefrenchy I think they will

  • Thanks for you info. One more thing. What is the ph balance like in your tank and what kind of food do you use?

  • I have no idea on the ph balance I simply use a over flow system into a bigger plastic ikea box & use a simple sump that stacks multiple pails with holes as filter & sump holder.

The rest just add plenty of water with anti chlorine, Cherry Shrimps are the most adaptive to water conditions compared to other species like Crystal Red Shrimps...that need good water conditions & cooler temperature.

  • what's the water condition please?

  • Water is most favorable to between 28 to 30 deg C they can survive 30 deg C but not good.

Not expert on water conditions of other measurements other then temp but I do have enough plants & food for them.

  • holy shit, shut up !

  • if you mix cherry reds and blue pearls do you get purple shrimp :o)

  • why aren't they red? seriously mine look as red as cherries lol

  • hahah I'm not sure, that time using a PSP chotto camera to film this video.

But at that time I bought the cherry I mixed around some orange shrimps too so maybe these are hybrids :3

  • oo then they're peach cherry shrimps...?...

    lol

well mine were clearish when i bought them, then they turned red

  • LOL I guess when they are transparent probably the water condition, age, sex difference :3 ^_^

I kind of believe it's their happiness factor :3 more happy = more red :3

  • cherry shrimps usauly turn clearish when u just buy tem or bring them home cause they lolse colour when stressed but its ok theyll turn red again

  • where did you find the internal breeding tank, I think I'm going to need one soon!

  • I got it from the local fish shop at clementi blk 328 if you are in Singapore however don't worry if your tank dun have any fishes...if have then u need the breeding tank

  • I've got about a couple of prawn fry already. They're quite cute actually, but once during the water change, I accidentally sucked a fry out. Luckily I saw and removed it from the waste container before disposing off the waste, or else there'll be a "Creature in the sewer" [Muhahaha]!

  • It's hard to change water properly after you got a tank FULL of fry LOL I use a overflow pipes to suck water from the top with netting as well...it's in one of my video :D

  • Wow, fantastic recording. From your way of speaking, even our Malaysian's Manglish is more or less the same (Chinese mix mah...) My shrimps gave birth too, despite the fact that the water temperature rose to about 30-31 deg Celcius. However, I honestly don't know how to manage my Algae wafer. They became algae growth too fast...

  • hey, me too I think it's because the lights is too bright and on for too long.

But I think the shrimps love algae wafer...so no choice hehe

  • what is the tanks temperature?

    did they live?

HOw did you know when she was ganna give birth?

  • The temp is about 27,5 to 28.5 deg Celsius which is survivable by the cherry shrimps if the temp go any higher they might survive but not gd ...for any one thinking of crystal red...u need chiller to go colder instead very hard to survive in Singapore

  • Hey there once you said :"my father" at the begining, I know you are a chinese, am I right? If I am where do you stay? Malaysia?Singapore? Nice idea using the magnifying glass.... 5stars

  • Singapore! Muahaha you can identify me by my Singlish ah :D ^_^ cool bro!

  • wad do you feed them?

  • I feed them algae wafer :3

  • i like the yellow one! :)

  • yeah it's nicer then :D now it's all mixed breed until it's not golden yellow...more like dirty yellow now

  • lol! wait, u have a psp phone? when did they even start making them?

  • LOL nope it's a PSP Chotto Camera attachment and I'm using it to video the shrimp with magnifying glass and use my neck to grab a mobile phone a stunt that is tiring by the way :D lol but I enjoyed the process! :3

  • Yesss I carry my flag in my voice LOL :D

  • LOL ... nice reply :D

    congrats on the vid

  • How big do fresh water shrimp get?

  • hi simon , may i ask what should be done when u find out ya shrimps are pregnant ? do u seperate them with the others or can i jux leave them altogather ? will they survive ? will the other big ones eat the babies ?

  • initially I thought the big shrimps may eat the babies but later I found out no...the cherry shrimps won't eat their young if you feed them regularly (2 times a day)

Put some plants to boost the baby shrimps more places to hide from the real predator (e.g. fishes)

Do not to put predator fishes with shrimps...e.g. Tilapia (japanese fish) or those carnivorous aggressive types.

  • oic oic , so i think i need not worry to keep looking out for them ... cux i'm trying setup a whole tank of cherry onli ... thx for the attention

  • Hi! great video. I wonder what the shrimps feed on? what's the standard size of the shrimps ready for pregnancy? Thank you.

  • The shrimp feed on shrimp food bought at fish shops :)

If you cannot find or locate any use normal fish algae wafer will do...I get those big algae wafer for cat fish types....shrimps love it

Size of small shrimps start giving birth very early...research on wiki for more.

  • wow that is some impressive luck.....in all my years of shrimp keeping I've never witnessed that until now.

    Thanks for that simon!

  • You are welcome! :)
